My red cover book for #ChristmasCrimeChallenge
I went in sceptical, but really enjoyed this. When Jane‘s beloved brother Georgy is suspected of murder, the only way to prove his innocence is to find the real killer. So that‘s what Jane must do! There‘s wit (especially in the letters to her sister), there‘s hotheadedness, there‘s mystery - and (shockingly) our heroine isn‘t perfect, and makes mistakes!
Definitely up for the next in the series.

Well look at this! Anyone would think I‘d actually been reading books! Remarkable!
Sabotage… is a middle grade crime thriller, set on a runaway solar-powered train, north of Alice Springs. It turned out to be more thriller than crime (think Speed meets Scooby Doo), but there was a Christie-esque ‘let me tell you who dunnit‘ at the end. Loads of fun, enough train facts to keep any young train fans happy, and really quite page-turnery! Fab!

A soft pick.
1st my quibbles. A strained set-up. Lots of telling not showing what an oddball detective Merivale is. Women are mousey bores or sirens. The only sign of Xmas is a dusting of snow.
And yet, I spent the whole day engrossed, reading to find out who did it.
☑️ Chimney prompt for #ChristmasCrimeChallenge

I don't love a locked room mystery - it feels like they're so focused on the puzzle and being clever, that the characterization seems to suffer? All brain and no heart which is not my bag. So I mostly only read them when prompted by something like the #christmascrimechallenge 😅. After reading this one, my feelings haven't changed. It's more than competent, if not entirely satisfying. A begrudging pick @Ruthiella @RaeLovesToRead

I am so enjoying Julie Bird, the amateur sleuth in this cozy. Series #8 #ChristmasCrimeChallenge #prompt6 #setduringwinterinsnow

This is fun! Your enjoyment may vary, I found the 4th Wall breaks quirky but it seems divisive in the reviews lol it was had lots of author and fan drama with a scenic backdrop & plenty of Aperol spritz‘s as they try to solve a (possible) attempted murder & then an actual murder.
#ChristmasCrimeChallenge “Cozy” (it‘s cozy adjacent)
Spoilers for Murder of Roger Ackroyd which I also read this month

Themes: Classic Agatha Christie Murder mystery, Family drama, Christmas-ish
A delightful Poirot book, I enjoyed all the twists and turns that Agatha sends us on. I wish there was more Christmas in it, but oh well. Checking off the “Locked Room” square on my #christmascrimechallenge board hosted by @RaeLovesToRead and @Ruthiella

I'm really enjoying Tommy & Tuppence! I was surprised by the long time gap from their first adventure but glad they are still happily married, although a bit bored. The detective agency was such a fun way for them to spend their time & great for the short story format here. I admit, most of the references to famous detectives went over my head as I'm not familiar with most of them. But it didn't hinder my understanding or enjoyment
