It‘s time for this month‘s #BookishMonopoly! I rolled a nine again and landed on “Read By Candlelight.” Not sure where I found this prompt! 🤓📖🕯️I thought I‘d go with more wisdom from Jim Henson and The Muppets. It‘s been on my TBR for awhile. Thanks again to @AkashaVampie for inspiring me to take on this challenge and to fellow player @Jari-chan
Now I need to search around for some candles!

AkashaVampie Oh fun... and u are so welcome. I love to inspire people to read. Also, let me know what scent u use for the candle. Hope it smells wonderful. 1w
Jari-chan What a lovely prompt! Let us know how it's going 😀❤️🕯️ 1w
UwannaPublishme @AkashaVampie I just found one with a gardenia scent. I may start with that and then maybe try some different ones. 7d
UwannaPublishme @Jari-chan Thx! Will keep you posted. Maybe I should have picked a dusty old classic written before there was electricity. 🤓✒️📜 7d
Jari-chan @UwannaPublishme Oh, that would've been so fitting! 🤭 7d

It‘s been a rough day, so I checked this out from library and read it to Bailey who likes to chase bees. She didn‘t seem impressed, but I found it delightful. 🤣🤣🐝🐝

Smrloomis Sorry about the rough day but this looks like a good distraction 💕 1mo

Like her memoir, Dolly‘s responses to her readers are very conversational. Reading them feels like talking to an old friend. Her advice is very practical and real, but she‘s never judgmental. She seems to really understand what her readers are asking and gives relatable advice.

I have never read the Dear Sugar column before. I find it annoying that people are apparently writing to her with real problems, and she always responds with some long rambling story about her own life, and no real advice. The book started to feel repetitive after just a few short chapters.

Kitta I gave it a so-so, I used to read Dear Sugar when I was younger and liked it then but reading it now I‘m like what kind of advice is this?? 😂 2mo

For #ThreeListThursday, I‘m sharing my 3 favorite nonfiction books and explaining their impact on me. I tagged one of the books that I mentioned. I didn‘t realize these books had such an impact on me but once I started sharing about these books, I couldn‘t stop. I still have regrets about how I behaved during my breakup and I‘ve had a hard time forgiving myself for it but it was a long time ago so I‘m moving forward and trying to forget about it.

dabbe I am completely humbled by your willingness to share with us your heartfelt struggles. I'm also so glad that you are now in a good place of peace! Thanks so much for sharing. 💚💙💚 2mo

Almost 4⭐️
~
This equally humorous and heartbreaking memoir is told in the format of Questions & Answers (essays) supposedly taken from the author's job as a queer advice columnist. Flashbacks to Brammer's youth in rural Oklahoma and his early experiences as a gay man serve as the packaging for most of his advice. I was quite moved by his honesty, vulnerability, and insight, but I think a more standard format would have served his story better.
