It may be menopause, but Mandy has made emotional. A realistic look of an orphan who experienced bitterness and frustration because she doesn't understand the feelings of desiring something of her own. She thinks it's a cottage she needs, but it's a family.

It just reminds me of the peace and joy of reading my wonderful books as a child. The font, the yellowing pages, the smell, all make me forget I am an adult and I back to simpler times.

Butterfinger @TheBookHippie thank you for this challenge. As a child, I would have preferred Sara Crewe or Mary Lenox to Mandy, but in this time of my life, Mandy is more realistic of children. Wanting more than life offers. Whew, Mary Poppins, I didn't know you could write. #ChildrensClassicRead2025 2d

I just remembered to pull this off my shelves, @Centique , after I mentioned it on your time travel post. This is the American edition; does it look like it matches the ‘70s TV show at all? 😄

Centique Oh yes it does! In the show it is all because of the mirror she finds at her cousins house I think? I am going to a secondhand bookshop next week that specialises in children‘s books so I am going to look for this! 3w
Centique Thanks for showing me your version! I love that art style too 😍 3w
LeahBergen @Centique I hope you find it! Buddy read? 😄 3w

It was this tv show in the late 70s that made me love time travel - being able to visit your grandparents as children in the early 1900s! Time travel novels for me can be escapist fantasy or dystopian sci fi - sometimes a delight, sometimes a disaster - and my tastes have moved from fantasy towards dystopia lately #timetraveltop5 @Ruthiella
1 - The Time Travellers Wife
2 - Outlander
3 - Doomsday Book
4 - Black Out/All Clear
5 - Kindred

Centique If you have some time travel faves, feel free to make a list too! @Dragon @LeahBergen @Ruthiella 4w
Centique And then there are the kids time travel books like 4w
Luke-XVX I recently re-bought Toms Midnight Garden. I remember reading the school libraries copy a lot 4w

AlaMich I also recommend this one by Neal Stephenson and Nicole Galland. It‘s a bit of a chunkster but worth it. (edited) 4w
LeahBergen I have a copy of the tagged book! I must get to it soon! 4w
julesG @AlaMich the audiobook of D.O.D.O. is good 4w
AlaMich @julesG I know! I listened and read the print edition. Have you read the sequel? (edited) 4w
julesG @AlaMich Yes. Like you, book+audiobook. 4w
Centique @Luke-XVX I remember it being so good, I must re-read it! 4w
Centique @AlaMich @julesG I have that on my TBR but I must move it up! I will look for the audiobook. 4w
Centique @LeahBergen oh wow! I only found out it was also a book yesterday. I will look for a copy too 😍 4w
Centique @Dragon ooh that looks really good too! I have such a good TBR of time travel books now 🙌 4w
Dragon I think you‘re going to enjoy it. I just finished another time travel book that I enjoyed 4w

4.5⭐️ I really liked the book, but I didn‘t really enjoy the Molly sections as much as the Vivian sections simply because I felt that Molly was a little too fiesty for my taste. #2025 #bookreview #historicalfiction #reread #fiction

Such a great read! It was on my TBR forever and I‘m so glad I finally got to it, and a little mad at myself for waiting so long to read it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This poor girl had to endure so much at a young age. Heartbreaking but well written and intriguing story that will stick with me for awhile.❤️
