This was such a fun fantasy tale!
The strongest part of the book were the two lead characters, Cinna and Hokuren. I absolutely loved their friendship and the found family nature of it. They have both been through a lot and it was so heartwarming to see them act and care for each other like family.

This was a wild ride…got very twisty near the end! Four female friends in an affluent Australian town make up The Running Club, and their comfortable lives are upended when one of them is found murdered on the running track.

I really enjoyed this memoir of lessons learned while learning the way of tea. I feel like I gained a greater appreciation of Japanese tea, and the lessons (life lessons, not tea) felt very timely. I also would like to try a bunch of traditional Japanese sweets now too!
A quick and inspiring book, best enjoyed with matcha 🍵

These books are highly entertaining, tense and adventurous. This is the second in this part of the series.

Not my favorite Conroy. The descriptions of Charleston were long-winded and boring; and quite frankly, annoying. But the story, oh man, what a story! It was compelling, ugly, thought provoking, gripping, and worth reading.

I read the first three volumes of The Girl from the Other Side. It‘s still early in the story, but I‘m intrigued and picked up the next three installments from my local library. The general plot involves a curse that is passed by touch and which turns typical humans into huge, dark, antelope-like creatures. Which would cool for death-metal bands, but the “insiders” seem to want to avoid such a transformation at all costs

This author has some interesting ideas. Def worth a listen. This gorgeous cover caught my attention and this was a book club pick.
