pickThis was a good mystery with several twists. An 8 year old boy goes missing & this one had me suspecting several characters. Well written even if it did drag a bit in places.

I have read all of Nita Prose's Maid books, and this one is my favorite! Molly the Maid takes some things to work to get appraised because there is an antique show filming there, and the workers can bering something. She takes an egg at the last minute. Prose uses this egg to tell the backstory of Molly's Gran. We get to learn her history, which I loved. Prose does this through a dairy left for Molly. There is a mystery to solve ⬇️
pickOh my goodness, this was soooo good! Haymitch‘s backstory is great, but it‘s so heartbreaking, and I‘m emotionally wrecked. I loved all the connections made to other characters in the series and thought they totally worked. Just a fabulous read and a great addition to the series!

pickI absolutely love the more modern storyline in the book. The author has a style of writing that really pulled me in. However, there‘s a story within the story that almost ruined the entire thing for me. It‘s basically about the legend and folklore about this particular fishing spot the the town that used to exist around it. The owner of a local diner tells the tale to two fisherman in an attempt to scare them away….and he drones on for hours!!!
pickI listened to this while my stepdaughter reads it for English class….I was shocked that I loved it. There was a lot more compassion and tenderness than I anticipated for a book about a gang of teenage boys. I see why this is considered to be the start of YA fiction, even though most of what I‘ve read in the genre pales in comparison. My stepdaughter, she‘s still working on it, but she read ahead to the ending (what‘s with young people today?).
pickMy daughter goes to school about an hour from where these take place & a friend of mine lives there. It makes them even more entertaining to me. I found myself laughing throughout this book. Such a great escape.
