Beautiful books 🤩
I read The Graveyard Book a few years back and found it unique and delightful. When I found that it was adapted to a Graphic Novel, I couldn‘t resist.
This has all the charm of the book, with the added bonus of a visual guide. Each chapter is illustrated by different illustrators, whom kept to the same theme. But the individuality is there; making this again something so very unique that comparison is absurd and impossible.
I adore Gaiman's work!
As always, with all Neil Gaiman books I've read: I loved it. I have to admit that I bought this ebook a while back by accident thinking is the actual book not the illustrated version but I am happy I did. Loved the drawings, loved the way the “real“ book was “translated“ to comic book format. A definite pick - in fact, I am now getting ready to buy the full illustrated version, I gotta have the book in my hands.
@the_magicreader is supposed to do his homework, but he found a book.

Third book for #MrBook1InAMillion done 👻
I really enjoyed this book. It's about a boy named Nobody, Bod for short, whose family is murdered and he ends up being raised in a graveyard by ghosts and a vampire.

This book was interesting. It's about a boy who escaped death when he was a baby and was raised in a graveyard by ghosts and a vampire. 95% of the illustrations were great! 5% of the one story made the boy look weird but I digress. I liked reading about the adventures of Bod and looking forward to reading the next volume.

Well, sure I've read it a bazillion times. The thing is, it never fails to entertain. 🤷♂️
If it has Neil Gaiman‘s name on it, I will read it. And I think publishers are figuring out that I am not alone. So they adapt EVERYTHING of his into graphic novel form. Even when it doesn‘t add anything. I LOVE The Graveyard Book. It is amazing. This is just okay. It is missing the nuance and language that make the book so special. If the art were perfection, that might still work. But the art doesn‘t add to the story here. Stick with the novel.
I finished the readathon with this beauty and more audio, totaling 16 hours. Thanks to @Jilly6183, for the goodies! I loved revisiting this world!! #24b4monday #bookandsocks #riotgrams #screamathon
#BlackCatChallenge Day 5: For those who may not be in the know, there is a 2-volume graphic novel adaptation of The Graveyard Book, the first book that came to mind with the #Cemetery prompt. As Silas, the undead pointed out, the Owenses can not be left on their own to raise Nobody Owens: it will take a graveyard. My full review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-ajZ
3.5 stars
Interesting graphic novel story. I thought it was neat how each chapter was illustrated by different artists; though I liked Kevin Nowlan‘s (Chapter 1) the best. Story wise, I didn‘t care for the lose ends left dangling, but I know there‘s a follow up book that hopefully takes care of those.
Should be interesting. Volume 2 awaits me in the other room, so we shall see. 👻 #CurrentRead
Volume one? Vol. 1. Where is vol. 2, Libby!?! I discovered, after finishing vol. 1 of the graphic novel, that there is no vol. 2 in my Libby or my CloudLibrary reader. I feel like all three of The Three Stooges (slapping myself and poking my own eyes out). I am not buying books, no matter how charming, due to mounting veterinary bills. Maybe I'll read the real book. IDK.
I.. haven't actually read the original book. But now I really need to because this is SUCH interesting mythology and I gotta see what happens to Bod. Really pretty art (though, I admit, I didn't realize it was a different artist per chapter 😅).
Library field trip success! Group 1 went this morning. I'll take group 2 this afternoon. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't take my library card because I already have a lot to read -- nah, that's crazy talk. 😜
And now onto my very first graphic novel!! Let's see if I'm onto something new and addicting 😈
ANNNDDD ALSO! Since I've been a bad little bookworm lately, I totally neglected to share my mini Amazon Prime book haul!! TADA! It came late 😒but I wasn't getting much reading done with my bestie in town anyway...very excited to read this graphic novel, as it will be my first! Any other graphic novel recommendations?!? Horror-esque things are my jam, but I'll take whatever you've got! :)
What can I say...the amazon prime sale got me. Not bad though, it's a pretty small haul featuring two books I've been dying to read. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the new cover of My Best Friend's Exorcism!! Can't wait to see it in person!!!! And of course read it...
"School library . . . where he read books as enthusiastically as some children eat."
5⭐( actually read both volumes in one book). Wow, what a wonderful book. At times it was slow and it took me six weeks to read, but overall I really enjoyed this story. Looking foreword to reading more of Gaiman's books!
Though I really dislike when graphic novels have different artists illustrate each chapter, this graphic novel was an absolute treat! I highly recommend this regardless of whether or not you have read the book.

The graphic novel version of a favorite book!
Well, not really a #chillyreads #chillyread but I couldn't find any wintery-sounding titles except A Christmas Carol and The Graveyard Book does have the Danse Macabray scene and snow. #photoadaynov16 #day29 @LibrarianRyan
Basically this is me today as it's raining outside. #readathon
#readathon pile, probably starting with graphic novel adaptations of The Graveyard Book: Saturday morning cartoons. @DeweysReadathon
Ein entspannter Feiertag mit Neil Gaiman. 😏
2.5-3/5 stars. So many illustrators, not enough continuity among the work as a whole. Really shallow characters. I liked the Hounds of God storyline the best.
Being really new to graphic novels I decided to make my first and only one my #laidbackbook. I've realized that I really unwind at night when I read this one in bed. Can't wait to go get some more 💸💸💸 #augustphotochallenge
So, I knew that I would be back at the comic store before the weekend is over. After taking forever to make a choice I decided on this one. I haven't read any Neil Gaiman yet (I know shame on me) so I'm quite excited to get this one started.
