My ILL finally came in!
My ILL finally came in!
Continuing my WWI reading with a 550+ page book on what led to the outbreak.
5/5 stars. Well researched, great storytelling, and a fresh perspective on the topic of WWI. Highly recommend!
I just finished Part 1 and I think I have found my new favorite history writer.
The exact opposite weather we are forecasted for this bank holiday.
3/5 stars. Got to preachy in the last 15%.
2.5/5 stars. Started slowly, but got a strong middle that drew me in, then it fell into the typical contemporary romance pattern that felt over the top.
My Sunday read. Nice to see Italian immigrants and Italian-American families in a historical romance set in America!
3.5/5 stars. An easy, fun beach read to go with the heatwave the UK has been experiencing this past week.
After finishing two novels, I wanted something short. Another spin with Lt Eve Dallas sounded good.
I always love spending time in South Cove with Jill and the gang. Needed more page time spent on the mystery and less with Jill‘s staffing issues. At least I‘m all caught up...for now.
I enjoyed reading about Deanna and Boston, but Andi‘s arc was over the top nonsense. Not as good as the first book, but good enough to read the third and final book in the series.
2.5/5 stars. Not recommending unless you really really really love dry as dust history writing or you have a deep need to know more about a few Rush-Americans. Took me 8 weeks to read through this book.
5/5 stars. So good I read it in a day. Luckily I planned ahead and got books two and three already so I can spend more time on Blackberry Island.
4.5/5 stars. Looking forward to the second book in the series!
In my defense, I was left unsupervised in a library- I have four more coming to me via ILL. Happy Spring Break for mommy!
3/5 stars. I like Shalvis‘ writing but too many sex scenes bloated the story.
After a lackluster month of reading, I‘m ending March on a high note. This was a great small town contemporary romance I picked up on OverDrive.
35/5. You have to be a big military history buff to enjoy this. But a worthwhile endeavor and useful if you need primary sources from the Great War for academics.
2.5/5 stars. Didn‘t have the same punch that the movie had.
Reading this for 2018 Pop Sugar Challenge prompt “book made into a movie you have seen already”. The movie was done by Disney and stars Eric Bana and Chris Pine. I picked the YA version because I didn‘t want to read about boat specs.
3/5 stars. I liked most of it, Meg was too annoying to connect with and that ending was an anti-climax. But I‘m eagerly awaiting the movie because there is a great story here.
My next read. Just got the notice that school is closed for the second day due to The Beast from the East.
4/5 stars. Good Reading for all ages, especially MG and early YA.
While the kids are in ju-jitsu class, I decided to get a head start on my March TBR. First up is this book.
Dear Vera,
You‘re at a 12 and we need you at a 4. Thanks.
3.5/5 stars. There was a lot of good stuff, like little known stuff about the war and UK life. However, one chapter had no use or connection to the war or the survivors and was completely useless. It was titled “Hope” and was about two wealthy women who were unhappy in their marriages so they had affairs.
3.5/5. Well written and thought-provoking.
4/5 stars. A page turner!
Because if you can‘t blame women, blame the gays. Oh Freud.
I feel like burning everything down to the ground when Aunt Flow comes to town sometimes
Just can‘t get into a fiction groove. Throwing out my prescribed list of books to read this month and going on a non-fiction binge. First up is this “love story”.
Official end time for #24in48 us 17:00:30. 2 books completed, one book 30% read, and one book 20% read. Can‘t wait to do it again in the summer!
Going to work a short story anthology among the remaining hours of #24in48
Book three of #24in48 - this time a contemporary romance. Borrowed from OverDrive.
Childhood favorites I just can‘t part with. I was a huge Sweet Valley High fan but these family sagas are the only ones I kept, even through multiple military moves. #24in48
Book number two of #24in48. Will start after getting a snack and making more tea.
