Summer read 📚
So far it‘s keeping me enough intrigued ..
Taking a break from the Weather Warden series to read my book club's pick for March.
I should have known how this was going to be from the cover. Million dollar? Million books? Million what exactly? While the idea was interesting, the writing fell flat. She could use a better editor. For a book with the word gender in the title I was also expecting more gendered characters, not stereotypes. There were a few interesting twists. I didn't completely hate it but I will not be continuing with the series.
My sister-in-law recommended this book to me. While the concept of this book seemed interesting (two nations divided by gender), I never felt like the world was real. I think the books I‘ve read in the dystopian genre that are most successful are because there are enough differences that you know you‘re not in today‘s world, but enough similarities that you can identify with it. I didn‘t expect the ending, but not enough to read the next book.
The party believed that if men were allowed to prevail again, they were simply creating a replica of the former testosterone-driven regime that had led everything to ruin. #thegendergame #bellaforrest
Better to remain always self-reliant. Self-reliance means you're in control. Don't ever think you need a man for happiness. #thegendergame #belladorrest
Thank you to @nerdymsft for my #funinthesunsummerbookswap just remembered to post pictures (been so busy at work) 😃📚💝💝

I really enjoyed this story and found myself incredibly intrigued with the characters! I thought the story idea was rather unique as well. I am anxious to read the next book in the series!
Rainy, windy, messy day calls for a new book! Tackling that 150 book reading challenge this year!
Didn‘t like this at first — the MC is obnoxious and she keeps making the same mistakes over and over, which makes for very frustrating reading, as she is also the narrator. However I like how the world building takes shape around the events the MC is involved in, and I liked how much the action speeds up in the last 1/3 of the book. The romantic lead was too obvious, but the gradually increasing tension was well executed. Just made it over so-so.
So good when you find a book you‘ve been wanting to read on Kindle Unlimited. Hopefully it‘s not a dud, the premise is really intriguing!
Has anybody else read this?? I have been looking forward to it for quite a while!
Good beginning, dull middle, and unbelievable ending. I have to say, her writing style is manipulative!
Looks like Autumn is finally arriving, sans the crisp weather.
This book was an entertaining & quick read, exactly what I needed after wrapping Empire of Storms. #bookhangover #autumnreads
Morning commute isn't so bad when your enjoying the view and a good audio book. #audiobook #autumnreads 🍃🌾🍂
I was sceptical about this. First it's the name and then the comparison to The Hunger Games, which seems to be the case with every YA fiction released these days, but I was plesantly surprised. Only 28% in, so ample opportunity to change my mind. That said I would recommend bases on what I've read so far. My only wish is that the author picked a better name, maybe I'm wrong, it did catch my eye after all. #thegendergame #ya #bellaforest
An interesting twist on post-apocalyptic America. I liked the true feminist perspective as well as the story told with two societies that have no gender equality. The writing seemed fairly simple and although telling a unique tale and creating empathy and love for one character in particular, I didn't feel as connected to this community or plot.
A little reading while camping. Thought I would try this one since I liked the Hunger Games and Divergent series.
I'm looking for some sanity! I read the first two books of Gender Game series, they were just awful. Bad writing, bad characters ruined what could have been a good story. All I keep hearing and seeing everywhere is how good they are and they are the next big series.
Is there anyone out there who agrees with me?

I was unsure how I get about this book but there must have been something keeping me hooked because I'm desperate to get started on the next book in the series now. Some may say it's a little cliché but it's twists and turns will keep you guessing.
Haven't read a book on my Kindle in ages! At first, I thought #TheGenderGame was a bit cliche, but it turned out to be the complete opposite and I loved it ❤
For the last day of #MarchIntoReading - my #bestofmarch!
I read 19 books this month, and these 6 got my highest ratings. No 5 star books this month, but there's always hope for next month!
I had not one that I DNF this month. 🤓👍 Bring on April - Happy Friday!
I got this book through #kindleunlimited - once I started to read it (when I know I shouldn't start another book while I'm in the middle of my book club book😒) I didn't want to stop. I loved the main character, Violet, and was rooting for her from the get-go! There were some sketchy parts that didn't exactly make logical sense, but all in all its a great read.
Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a little crazy #YAdystopian excitement!
A fantastic series so far, very different to the shade. But equally good in its own right!
Dear Litsy, I'm not ignoring you. Well maybe I am a little. I'm on a push to finish 10 more books before the end of the year. If I manage that I'll have completed 200 books, which is a record I think. Gotta go!
Anyone read this book? I stumbled across it whilst completely ignoring my resolution of not adding anymore books to my TBR pile 🤓
If you like the Hunger Games and Divergent then this is a good read alike. What happens if the world is divided into two factions? Matrus, where women rule and men are subservient, and Patrus, where men rule and women are subservient, are at odds with each other. Violet makes a deal to save herself from execution in Matrus by going undercover in Patrus and discovers more danger than she even thought she would face. #netgalleyreads
