This is definitely one of those cases in the Discworld series where reading at least one other book in publishing order helps. The first half is a lot more fun when you've read Going Postal, and can view it as the continued adventures of Moist von Lipwig, who I would never characterize as 'up to his usual tricks' because he's far too unpredictable, as are the things that happen to him and those around him. 1/2
Chock-full of absurd characters and perennially relevant social commentary. Of course, now I want to reread Raising Steam to complete the reread trilogy. And as usually happens, with the later books for Vimes or Lipwig, I get a little sad that Terry never had the chance to dive into further adventures with this character. 😔
