This is my current bookclub read which I have absolutely no hope of finishing before Thursday. But I like what I‘ve read so far - very atmospheric, almost nostalgic for me, and a bit odd - and I love the #leaves on the cover. #gratefulharvest

I‘m not saying these are the most well-written books of the past decade (though some of them are), but they‘re the ones I‘ve enjoyed the most.
(I‘ve tagged the most obscure title.)
I know we all have them: that one book that you LOVED, that you wish you could read again for the first time, the one that struck all the right chords & that feels absolutely singular. You look for echoes of it in other titles, in other writers, in other plots, but it eludes you. You cannot find anything like it.

Not that I have time to add more books to my TBR, what with my book club commitments & the quickly approaching #freakyfriday event (so excited! 🙌🏻), but I need to ask now, while I‘m thinking of it: what‘s your favorite ghost story? I have a weakness for a spot of haunting (especially when it‘s a novel that doesn‘t fall into the “horror” genre & isn‘t actually scary, at all). One of my favorites is tagged. 💞👻
pickWeathering is a beautifully written quiet, quirky magical tale of three generations of women. Two alive, one somewhere in between. Her ashes may be in the river but Pearl hasn‘t quite left it or her home & as Ada tries to put her mothers house to rights but keep her past, before the birth of her daughter Pepper, in her hometown behind her she finds that some places, people and memories haunt you and drive you back more than you could bargain for.
so-soI didn't relate to the characters but honestly the three generations of women had a hard time relating to each other. I thought there would be more resolution to the ghost story but neither character is bothered at all.
Guys this book is weird.... I'm fairly far along and whenever somebody asks me how I like it I respond I'm not sure yet ...
This book has at least one unreliable narrator...could be closer to two or three...bound to happen with Ghost 👻 stories. Actually kinda reminds me of #wehavealwayslivedinthecastle #mercat
pickBeautifully evocative writing, fabulous imagery. Nothing bad happens. No one is raped or murdered or abused. It was a pleasure to enjoy a book so thoroughly. Great water metaphors. Totally worth my scarce reading time.
