Pray for my wallet, friends! 💖✨💪🏻😆📚
This year‘s festival was earlier, smaller, and maybe a little subdued compared to previous years. That‘s not bad, just different. I had fun not being a volunteer, and I enjoyed the presentations I attended. The program is typically a little light on mystery writers, but they usually do have at least one “heavy hitter.”
SA Cosby is a fantastic storyteller and a worthwhile representative of the genre.
Next year: AUGUST 24 #setyourcalendar
I have some serious personal things going on and strongly considered not going- but my son and mom insisted- and I am glad they did. So i hope some of you like the next few posts and if you enjoy book festivals consider adding this one. It was smaller- and much less crowded so honestly a very pleasant experience. I also enjoyed the chat with litsy friends throughout our different experiences.
Fantastic day at the National Book Festival. I met so many awesome authors.
#NationalBookFestival
Also, for all Littens in the DMV, we‘re planning a Litsy Meetup on Sept 16. Stay tuned for details!!! 🎉
THE Librarian!
I also found Waldo and saw Clifford. So far, a good day. 😀
#NationalBookFestival
I am here & in line to meet Joy Harjo, former U.S. Poet Laureate.
#NationalBookFestival
The Library of Congress #NationalBookFestival is nearly here! Yes, for some reason, this year it‘s August 12.
Who‘s attending? Anyone want to meet-up?
#NatBookFest recap: fantastic panels; signed (originally didn‘t get Goliath as I tried to have some restraint, but after hearing his & Leslye‘s panel had to get it too); added ~2 dozen TBR books; got tons of bookmarks; met neat people, one of whom told me about the b2weird IG book club focused on SFF authors of color + she gave me her extra ARC of Janelle Monáe‘s book.
Bonus! I got to have dinner with @Chrissyreadit & @Susanita ❤️ #littenmeetup
And my TBR has grow exponentially this morning. Plus all the bookmarks & stickers I have gotten.
Plus, they have tables set up for every state showcasing the books from that state. ❤️❤️❤️

Also I‘m excited to go to the National Book Festival Sat! I am vaxed and double boosted, and unfortunately also had COVID. I will add a mask to my safety protocol and carry hand sanitizer- and am excited to go hear all the book talks! (And see @wanderinglynn too) anyone else excited to go? If you can‘t make it it sounds like there will be live-streaming going on too!
I‘ll need to be at least 3 people to get to all the sessions & signings I want to attend! 😆😆😆
These are all the #NatBookFest books I plan to read. I hope to purchase at least a couple of these at the festival & get them signed. The question remains: which ones?!?
We‘re also planning a Litsy meet-up on Sep 3. Sign-up so we can coordinate a time & location to meet:

It Runs September 17-26. It actually kicks off a bit this sunday as PBS and LaVar Burton will be hosting Open a Book Open the world. Find out more Here: https://www.loc.gov/events/2021-national-book-festival/schedule/
Or ask me.
The National Book Festival is one of my favorite events every year. By pure chance, it falls on a weekend that's near my birthday, and so my mother's gift is always a weekend of babysitting services (yes, she's amazing!). This event, put on by the Library of Congress, is FREE for the public. (Yes, it's free!!!!!!) If you've never been, you MUST put this on your calendar for next year--August 29, 2020. (continued in comments)
The UVa book club of DC meets the National Librarian! Great start to the day at the National Book Festival. 📚
Those that can‘t go & even those going: Check out CSPSN2 Book TV interviews of the National Book Festival this weekend. There‘s tons of stuff to record!
If you don‘t have CSPAN2 channel, you can watch shows online at CSPAN2 Book TV
Last year this helped me figure out who I should see in person or who should I watch when I went back home! #NationalBookFestival

Someone tagged me on a post about this year‘s NBF, but I can‘t find the post now. Also, desktop Litsy seems to be down at the moment. 😠
Anyway, I just found out I‘ll be an usher at the main stage from 12:30 to close. If you‘re going, I strongly recommend you get the app so you‘re not wrestling with the paper schedule.
The list of authors is swoonworthy. I will try to see more authors than last time. Anyone else planning to go? https://www.loc.gov/events/2019-national-book-festival/about-this-event/
@TimSpalding can we buy Litsy shirts yet? I would love to have one to wear for this event! Plus easier to connect with other Littens.
Who else is considering attending the National Book Festival? August 31,2019 https://www.loc.gov/events/2019-national-book-festival
It is hard to show in pictures just how big this book festival in the UAE is. Seven halls, each bigger than a football field filled with book sellers and publishers from all over the world. 2,000,000 titles available for purchase, from 1500 vendors. Continuous programming, panels and lectures, all free to the public. Everything from antiquarian books to the latest manga. An unbelievable event.
I'm so excited! I just purchased my ticket for next weeks Festival of the Book in Harbor Springs MI! I'll be running all over the place, so many great presenters and panels to choose from! 🤓📚🎉

Here‘s my summary collage of our day yesterday at the National Book Festival. The authors (clockwise, from top left) are Meg Wolitzer, Celeste Ng (interviewed by Rumaan Alam), Ellen Hopkins, Jacqueline Woodson (with Carla Hayden, Librarian of Congress), Leigh Bardugo, David Levithan, Tara Westover, Roxane Gay, Dave Eggers (with Mokhtar Alkhanshali), Sonia Sotomayor, and (center) Penelope Bagieu and Tillie Walden.
Louise Penny was gracious and so friendly! The audience adored her and gave her a standing ovation! I also loved seeing NPR‘s Maureen Corrigan in person! #NatBookFest #NatBookFest2018 #NationalBookFest #NationalBookFest2018

@Bookworm83 @tpixie I feel so dense. This is what my home screen looks like. I don‘t see any messages...or hashtags! How do I get to the messages on this platform. It is only giving me customization settings links.
Anyone else going? I plan to be racing around from speaker to speaker. I don't do book signings at the NBF because there's too much to see and I don't want to miss any of it. 😋
I'll be there allllllllll day, because this is my favorite holiday of the year.
