Book 3 down for my #GNReadathon and it‘s a good one! This graphic novel is brimming with cheese & cheese puns. It‘s a sapphic story about “Count” Camembert who is really a girl but has to dress as a boy because girls can‘t inherit their father‘s fortune. She falls in love with Princess Brie & is pals with Lady Gorgonzola & Lady Ricotta. 😁 The artwork is great & it‘s a story about friendship, love, gender & acceptance. And. So. Much. Cheese! 🧀5⭐️
With that title I didn‘t know what to expect about this graphic novel😳Well, I was surprised!😃 I found a lovely sapphic graphic novel. I loved the topics: family support, friendship, identity, acceptance, relationships.. So nice, cute, lovely story. It has funny parts. 3⭐️ Book was part of #LGBTBookClub 2023 @AbigailJaneBlog

….everything is cheese 🧀
The amount of cute this story is, I mean all the names are cheese, come on!
This is sapphic, it‘s adorable, it is amazing friends. It is cheesy and so freaking cute
Happy Pride month! 🏳️🌈
Came along this for a challenge and I just couldn't stop reading. Not that I wanted to. Finished it in one sitting. I laughed and had such a good time with these characters and loved the afterword, where Muniz states that this story is loosely based on her own love story ❤
THIS BOOK STARTS OUT FRICKIN ADORABLE WITH THE CHARACTERS BOUNCING OFF EACH OTHER ABOUT CHEESE AND FASHION AND DOGS AND FRIENDSHIP, AND THEN IT GETS HEARTBREAKING WITH BRIE PROCESSING FEELINGS AND IDEAS HER SOCIETY HAS TOLD HER ARE IMPOSSIBLE, AND THE ART IS SO GREAT, AND THE WORLD IS SO COOL, AND I LOVED IT SO DAMNED MUCH I WANNA SCREAM ABOUT IT ALL DAY. 5 STARS. #gaymay
A heartwarming read with great artwork. The cheese theme had me cackling (Guoda is a great name for a dog). I finished it and then promptly read it again.
A big thank you to @sebrittainclark for her glowing review of this book.
This graphic novel was so fun! The artwork was fantastic. Loved how the author incorporated bits of her and her wife‘s lives into the story. A bit cheesy (see what I did there?) but made me smile a lot which is just what I needed at the moment. 5/5⭐️

4.5/5
In order to inherit her father's estate, Cam has two choices: marry a man or disguise herself as a man so that she can inherit as his son. Cam disguises herself as a man and moves to the capital, but quickly runs into issues keeping a low profile when she enters Princess Brie's inner circle.
This is cute read about love, identity, unjust laws, and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Thanks @peanutnine for putting this on my radar!
physical book: The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich by Deya Muniz
audiobook: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

Loved the non-traditional take on princesses, the punny humor was great, I thought the illustrations were terrfic; this just illustrates that authors and readers both really love cheese in every way. 🧀🤣👍
Top four graphic novels of 2023 (one offs, series will be in next post). And of course, I had to shout out all the Tom Gauld collections of comics I read. Always winners. 🤌🏼

Muniz has a great way of telling a story and with The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich she had me hooked within the first few panels. I loved the choice of a modern day setting and the choice of names. It was very cheese themed and I loved it.
This was a complete joy from start to finish and I could have easily finished it in a single night but I really was trying to pace myself because I didn't want it to end.
This was such an incredibly cute YA graphic novel about the daughter of a dying count whose father concocts a plan for her to move to the capital city after his death and live as a man in order to inherit without marrying. Unfortunately, Cam's plans to lay low go out the window immediately upon meeting the crown princess. A 5 star graphic novel for sure.
Love, Love, LOVED IT! Easily a new favourite. The representation, the messaging, the humour, the fashion, the romance, the sweetness, UGH. Delicious, start to finish. 🥰
Teen graphic novel. Fairy tale romance between a young woman who has to pretend to be a man in order to inherit her father's money and the princess of the kingdom (where everything/everyone is named after cheese). Cute story. Odd mix of typical old-fashioned fairy tale setting and modern stuff, like video games. And the cheese thing was odd too (and made me crave a grilled cheese).
Not a #scarathlon type of read but I did find 60 word search points plus 10 for general book read.
This was fine, cute but not very impactful. I loved that every character even the dog was named for a type of cheese, and that it convinced me to make myself a grilled cheese sandwich (how can you not). A great book for youngsters but I doubt it will be one I remember much of recommend.
This was so odd but in a great way. 💗 Not what I was expecting but I‘m glad I read it. I might even want to read it again some time!
Super duper cute graphic novel! This was funny and punny and lovely 😍 I came for the cheese puns and stayed for the amazing found family. I loved the exploration of societal norms and gender expression. And the fashion!! Gorgeous outfits and images in general. Cannot recommend this more!

Not sure which is better - the artwork or the cheesy puns? #graphicnovels
This was such a fun read. Over the top, with manga inspired art, anachronisms out the wazoo, and full of cheesy puns. It was the perfect read for a stressful day. What a great pick for #LGBTbookclub !
Perfect lunch/reading combo for this #LGBTbookclub pick. I‘m enjoying the story so far. It‘s the first book club pick I‘ve been able to get to in any sort of timely way so I‘m pleased with myself today. @AbigailJaneBlog
BONUS QUESTION!
What was your favourite cheese pun?
#LGBTbookclub
The theme of secrets is essential to the plot, but how did that work for you? Do you think Camembert should have come clean earlier?
#LGBTbookclub
TPATGCS is a very sweet romance, but it also brings ideas of gender into question. How do you think it's handled? And how do you think Muniz links this to Fashion?
#LGBTbookclub
There are lots of relationships present in this month's read; frienships, romances, familial links etc. Which ones stood out the most to you? Are there any that you felt didn't work so well?

I think this is the first time I‘ve picked a graphic novel since I‘ve been doing these brackets (this is year 2). I couldn‘t help this—this story was just wonderful. I loved the art, all the puns, and it made me feel happy. I love love! I also loved the blurb at the end by the author, along with their wedding photo. 🥰🥰🥰
I loved this book! ❤️❤️❤️ The story was fun—a woman poses as man so she can inherit her late father‘s estate, only to fall in love with the princess. The cheese puns were AMAZING. Cheese puns for days, and I‘m here for them all. Plus the art was beautiful. I love love!!
Lolol this book is so cute and funny
"No, Ricotta. That's absurd." ...or is it?? ?
To get around her country‘s restrictions on inheritance, Cam dresses as a man & moves to the bustling capitol. There, she gains the attention of the princess when she should be lying low.
This was an absolute delight! Such gorgeously colored & adorable art. A cast diverse in skin colors, body types, & ages. The romance was fluffy & charming, & built up enough for me. & I loved all of the cheese puns. Definitely going to be a favorite. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
#BookHaul including the #LGBTbookclub pick for this month. Which is good, because my library hold still says six weeks. 😂
A more restrained haul, because I still have to walk fifteen minutes back to the hotel.
Our July pick is in! I've recently read this one and it's great! I definitely recommend for something light and silly.
Discussion for this will be around the 30th. I'm still planning on getting back to June's pick, so keep an eye out for posts about that!
As always, tag me in your posts and let me know what you think! #LGBTbookclub is open to everyone!
First #Booked2023 for “Summer“ (our winter) done!
The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich was written by a nonbinary author who has said the gender fluid main character is based on them. They have also since expressed a wish that they'd explored the gender situation in more depth, but I quite enjoyed the lightish touch in this one - Cam's gender just is what it is.
@BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen @alisiakae
Just a delightful, pretty, lowish-angst queer confection. Full of cheese pun names.

This has to be the most fun story I‘ve read in a long time. I loved this graphic novel. The art, the cheese puns, the story, it was amazing. One of the best LGBTQ+ graphic novels I‘ve read.
