As recommended I listened to this and for me it‘s was one of my favourite audiobooks. Hats off to Ray Porter for an excellent rendition. Lots of science but well explained so not inaccessible. Full of drama and humour and what ifs. Highly recommend.
I absolutely loved loved loved this book! This book had me laughing, crying, and feeling all of the emotions. Andy is a very good storyteller and is also able to put things in a way that even someone without a science background can understand. There is just so much in this book that is amaze. Friendship, humor, heartbreak, and so much more. I will be thinking about this book for a long time. 5/5
Movie/Book news!!
Currently reading this / listening on audio 😍 Already loving it. The audiobook really brings the story to life.
Andy Weir's last book, The Martin was fantastic!
Thank you for taggig me @The_Penniless_Author ❤ We've had an important appoinment yesterday, that's why I only can answer the questions now.
1) Usually, we just have a lovely dinner at home and enjoy each other's company. For this upcoming Valentine's Day I only wish for my wife to be back home as safe and sound as possible.
2) Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I love the friendship in this book.

#SciBreakthrough OK, the science breakthroughs in this book may be fiction, but between the scientists of Earth & Erid, there were lots of breakthroughs to save the planets. 🪐 🌍 This is a relatively new book for me, finished in November & one of my favorites in 2023. 🖤
My husband and I started Project Hail Mary as our road trip book. It‘s a lot of science, but he‘s a physicist, so if I need anything explained, I‘ve got a ready resource. It was warm enough today to walk in a short sleeved shirt, so I continued with The Fairytale Life of Dorothy Gale. #audiowalk

Rounding out my top 10 is the last book I read in 2023
I love the hard science, and the humor.
And this is why I wait for the last moment to pick my top books of the year!!
I LOVED this book! Yes things were a bit too convenient from time to time, but I completely feel for Grace, Rocky, and even the rock hard emotionless get it done Stratt.
This book was so funny, and unlike other "lit" books it doesn't over explain STEM to the reader so the reading experience is more pleasant.

My 2021 book of the year!
Amazing audiobook!! This is a signed Easton Press edition. Gilded edges! ♥️
And that is a wrap on 2023!
(I really have about 70 pages left of Hail Mary, but I am going to find time today to tackle it, and I am in love with it so far!)

Used my gift card and bought PHM for my collection. I've already read it but didn't own it, so now I do ☺🤓 I will give it a reread in 2024
I really have a hard time with this guy‘s writing style, but he is a master storyteller and I‘m a sucker for solid science. I loved this. A Ppesent day threat to earth propels at least one unlikely astronaut into space to look for a solution. Fun read! Coming out as a movie with Ryan Gosling as the hero!
I think I've found a new favorite author. 😍
All of the regular print was checked out. Lol

Finished earlier in the week, I finally made the time to listen to the audiobook & I LOVED it! The narration was stellar (despite my being slightly weirded out that the narrator sounded EXACTLY like an old coworker of mine) & it drew me into the story. Loved the humor, heart, science & humanity combination & it even had me all teary at the end. For sure on my top reads of 2023. 🖤💛🖤
I managed to finish it before discussion day! I was surprised how quickly and completely I got sucked into this story, especially as it has components I don‘t usually like: being dropped into the story with no idea what‘s going on, lots of flashbacks, and present tense narration. But they all had a point and made the story so great! #LitsySciFiBookClub #lsfbc
“You poked it with a stick?”
“No!” I said. “Well. Yes. But it was a scientific poke with a very scientific stick.”

Such a great story. The perfect balance between science and story that drew me in. It was absorbing and fast paced. Ryland, the MC, was well developed but I really loved Rocky. Sci-Fi like this just doesn't come around often and I need more like this.
I listened to this as the September selection for the #LitsySciFiBookClub but I didn‘t finish until October 1st. Oh, well. I am so glad I listened to this book! It was entertaining and compelling. The narrator WAS Ryland Grace. And he is one of the few male narrators, probably the best I‘ve heard, who does women‘s voices well. Run to your library or book store and pick up this book now, if you haven‘t already. I‘m behind most of you.
Absolutely loved this! Fairly similar to The Martian in some ways but think you can how Andy Weir has developed as a writer. Made me properly emotional at a few points as well as being very very funny in parts. Up there with some of my favourite sci-fi novels!
I hadn‘t read The Martian but enjoyed the movie. This book came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was not what I expected but better than I could have hoped for. The great story telling and thorough science explanations along the way made this feel real instead of just a story. Looking forward to checking out more of his work. Fist Bump.
Imagine you are a middle school science teacher and one day you wake up you are on a spaceship and you don't know why, you don't even know your name and as your memories slowly return you understand the improbability of your task, you are on a mission to save the Earth from an extinction-level event.
I won't spoil too much.
Not only this book had me on a chokehold (can't breathe with the twists and turns) 👇
I would recommend this if you enjoy science and engineering. Math and science are used to describe details in a way to up the ante for those who can understand the language. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people and I found myself missing out on more physical based action and tension. However, Project Hail Mary is a good book, it just isn't the book for me.

i didn‘t love the martian, to technical. but this one has a great story and heart. definitely worth a read!
So finally got my hands on that book in paperback. Not much work to do today so I could read a lot but I am feeling guilty of not at least taking a walk...
Fast-paced book that will turn out to be an even better movie. A little dense with the scientific material but the physics constant is not overwhelming. Loved the Martian and love this book as well. 4.5/5

📘 Project Hail Mary
🖊 Terry Pratchett
🎬 Pretty Woman
🎤 Paul McCartney
🎶 Penny Lane, Papa Was a Rolling Stone, and Pretty Woman are all so good. Not sure I can choose just one.
This book pulled me in quickly. It was compelling —the science was believable and so was the storyline. Great twists and hopeful!
Listen to the audiobook, I tell you, it‘s so much better that way. Saying why exactly would be a spoiler, so I won‘t, but there‘s an in-universe reason; also, great production value.
This book is all I wished The Martian to be.

If you haven't read this yet, now's the time to get it. Only $2.99 for one of the best books of 2021!
This one is a bit of a ham, both in size and execution. There are parts that are really good and gripping, but plenty that reads like a grade eight science project; (review continues in comments)
What makes this #letterp special is that it was a buddy read for me and my 14 year old son! We both loved it!

I loved Projecy Hail Mary by AndyWeir, especially the character Rocky. A notable mention is The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.
Another perfect hard sci-fi adventure by Andy Weir. For the full review, please visit http://benjamin-m-weilert.com/index.php/2022/07/27/book-project-hail-mary-2021/
Starting the #ReverseReadathon with the tagged book. It‘s good! #Deweys
I really like this author's writing, it's humorous, fun and fast paced. I loved 'The Martian' but this one was too deep into the science for me to understand the value. The story itself was good and enjoyable. If you can get beyond the science (or enjoy it) you will like this book.
#BookReport
Managed to finish not only my last audio hold but also the chunkster I was working on. I even managed to sneak in a third book while I was at it. Highlight was definitely the tagged.
#WeeklyForecast
My goal this week is to finish or at least make good headway into Watership Down. I need to step up my BookSpin backlog game before it gets unmanageable.
