It was pretty meh to be honest. It could've been so good, I just don't think the story delivered. I absolutely hated the lead character Sarah, couldn't get to grips with her or empathise with her. Could've been creepier.

Interesting premise but, between plot points, a bit of a snoozefest.

Characters behaved in really implausible ways and were either unconvincing or unlikeable.

Not my cup of tea, sadly.

Latest book started... this one has an interesting premise... a couple heartbroken by the loss of one of their twins decides to move to the inner Hebrides - just as they are about to start their new life, their daughter claims that she is the twin that passed away.

Not sure where the story will go, but an intriguing start.

This was a very unrealistic psychological thriller with a very unrealistic mother as the main character. One of het daughters dies, her twin sister is grieving and the mother keeps making all the wrong choices. Annoying and unrealistic. Oh and the father? Annoying too.

I am looking forward to making a start with the Lahiri for #CampToB. I have heard many good things. The one in the middle (titled The Crossing in English) is for Timor Leste in #ReadingAsia2021, I am glad to have found a book set there. The tagged one has been on my shelves forever, I thought it‘s time to get rid of it.

Wow! That was a wild ride. I finished it up today and totally lost myself in it. Coming back to reality was not so much fun. This was a thrilling and at times scary ride.

Told from differing perspectives. Identical twins are separated by death. The grief and confusion that comes after causes the family to be torn apart. Which twin lived What are the secrets hiding behind her death?

So I was reading on my phone when this happened. My phone was in the had now holding Baby Tiger. He‘s adorable but needy! 💙💙🐾🥰

December 2019 - Book 10

I really enjoyed this book, which was full of twists and turns, and was a real page turner! Definitely a good pick for fans of psychological thrillers. The characters are flawed and the story is like nothing I had read previously. A really good read!

It‘s only just gone 6am over here and I‘m sat in Guernsey (Channel Islands) airport waiting for a flight for a medical appointment in London - it‘s going to be a very long day, but a good excuse to start a new book! Have a great day everyone 😊 x

At first this #playaway kept crapping out on me, but I switched the triple A battery & it started working! Yay! I‘m eager to listen to this one!

My little book haul for the next months commute to work... Gosh do I love a psychological thriller

Good scary story but only a man would write some of the sex scenes!😩. There aren‘t many of those scenes but they don‘t seem to make or break this story about identical twins . One twin dies, the question is which one really does die!😬

This book was ok. Weird in parts but in the long run not bad

Non book related, but my school did theme days for Teacher Appreciation Week. Today we had twin day. My oldest friend and I wore shirts we got made, inspired by so many people confusing us over the years. We ended up teaching together by chance, but we‘ve known each other since we were five.

#StopPublishingShittyAuthors2k18. This book was shit. No mystery, no suspense, no atmosphere, no development, nothing. For a 300 page book, I expect a lot more. The last page was the best thing in the whole fucking story.

There‘s something creepy about twins in thriller/horror stories, like the popular Grady twins. Another is Lydia and Kirstie, the identical twins in the tagged book - when one of the twins died in an accident, the surviving twin terrified the parents by claiming she is the dead twin.

I went to my GR read list and found this book, which was suitably creepy and it's not clear if the mother is imagining a haunting or its a child who is the spook.
I remember enjoying the story.

This was a fast-paced, creepy book! The basic idea is that a year before the book starts, one of this couple‘s 6-year-old identical twin daughters died in an accident. Now, the living daughter is starting to say and do unsettling things and the parents aren‘t sure which daughter actually died. Spooky premise! If you don‘t overthink some of the less realistic plot points, you will probably enjoy the ride!

Started a new audiobook today. Creepy twin alert! 👯‍♀️ The narrator‘s creepy child voice is 👌🏻

I enjoyed this book and thought the plot was something different. Like others have said I was a bit disappointed with the ending but overall the book was gripping enough to keep you reading. The landscape and atmosphere were described very well

It seems funny to be discussing ice in a heatwave, but then again it's the only that ice seems to be more appealing. #ice #sizzlinsummerbooks

One of the greatest thrillers I've read 😃

Whatever I said or felt about this book initially, I take it all back.
I went looking for new reading material because I was bored with my usual, and I picked this up because it looked interesting and something out of the ordinary. As I began reading, I started expecting a lame take on the "Mistaken Identity" trope. I was also miffed beacuse I felt that the author didn't differentiate enough between the POV's personalities.
I love being mistaken.

"Josh was the only man who had seen Angus really cry about his dead daughter; one dark, terrifying evening, when the nightflower of anguish had opened, and bloomed."

I'm glad I like the story, because this kind of writing is a bit over the top for me when it's as unconsistent as it is in this book. But the story is intriguing and the landscape is interesting, so I'm gonna see it through?

Some of the books I am hoping to read this month.

Hmm, an interesting concept that never quite gave me the chills that I was expecting and wanting. The twins connection was, as ever, intriguing but there were so many subplots and suppositions that I did become a little bemused by it all. I didn't feel much for either parent but Lydia and Kirstie had my whole-hearted attention and sympathy.

Listened on audio. Should have done print bc the Scottish accents and weird place names were difficult for me. I was hooked on the story of these mysterious twins; one of which is dead, but which one? I did feel misled purposefully several times by the author. And I didn't like either of the parents; they both made really bad decisions. Some bad grammar drove me crazy too. ⭐⭐⭐

#Seasonsreadings2016 and this was the only book that popped into my head that Ive read recently and was #setonanisland. I did not love it. The big reveal left me kind of shrugging.

I'm a twin and I'm always intrigued by twinnian stories. Looking forward to starting this one.

I do not read psychological thrillers often, however, when I do, I enjoy them and 'The Ice Twins' is one of the best thrillers I have read. The style of writing is engrossing, the characters well written, so much so, I went through different emotions concerning Sarah and Angus, who was lying and who was telling truth? The isolation of cottage is vividly shown, you feel like you are there with the family. I could not stop reading this book.
