Such a brilliant read, a tender story told over the last few years of the life of Jesus Christ, narrated by Ana his wife. SMK has imagined a story in which Jesus had a wife & how it was for her to live in this time as woman with her own hopes, dreams and needs. Incredibly well researched story in which she paints a feminist journey that leaves you sitting up in bed at night feeling a tad guilty that you may have fallen in love with the son of god!

I‘m surprisingly impressed of this (audio)book even though I thought it dragged in some places. Additionally, I sometimes thought there‘s too few Jesus in it. (I now see why.)

But, you know, I am not very religious but I‘m thinking of occupying myself with that newly published Bible edition in Germany (🇩🇪 „Basisbibel“). It‘s written in contemporary language so that it hopefully is being more reading than text work.

Interesting. Recommend.

It‘s #Two4Tuesday-time. @TheSpineView
Thanks for tagging me @RamsFan1963 even though you didn‘t see much of me those past weeks.

1️⃣ I needed to look at that up but I indeed already bailed on four books this year funny event I already have forgotten about all of them.

2️⃣ Yeah. 🙄 I would love to get rid of glancing at how many pages are left every time that I read an e-book.

RamsFan1963 @Buechersuechtling Well, even if I don't see you around as often as usual, you're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you're doing well and we'll see you back regularly soon. 4y
Buechersuechtling @RamsFan1963 🤗 My dear friend. Thank you. Life is still not as it was before. Which I‘m sure it never will be. But it‘s really shocking how teachers, school, university and society in large parts fail in “teaching” you or giving you advice or use- and helpful information on life lessons. It‘s like even consoling is something most people are incapable of. But I feel like I‘m slowly settling in my new life. I‘m reading again, a good thing. 🧡 4y

Posting this #ThisOrThat #WouldYouRather by @DarkMina under my current audiobook. Thanks @RamsFan1963 for the tag – even if I am indecisive on the last question.

“My name is Ana, I was the wife of Jesus of Nazareth” – that‘s how the new novel by Sue Monk Kidd begins. It‘s the fictional life story of Ana, the companion of Jesus.

And it exactly that made me check this audiobook out. Only 30 minutes left but it was good entertainment so far.

DarkMina Thanks for playing! 4y

Imaginative telling of the story of Jesus‘ wife—not in the Dan Brown mold, but carefully placed in the political and religious matrix of the day. Ana is a compelling character. I wish there was a rating between so-so and pick, however—I enjoyed it, Kidd is a good writer, etc—but pick, to me, should be reserved for the very best books. More than so-so, but not a pick.

A book chronicling the fictional wife of Jesus. Impressively, Jesus is actually a supporting character to Ana and her life story. Dialogue was forced, historical anecdotes were interesting, and I do enjoy a strong female lead....but this missed a mark for me.

Ok, so I loved the idea of this book, and it definitely kept me reading. But I found Ana and Jesus...well, boring. This is the first book I‘ve read by Sue Monk Kids 😬, and cant wait to read more by her. Unfortunately, this didn‘t quite land for me.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was very strange to read a novel portraying Jesus as a married man, but it worked. The strength of the women alone makes this a worthwhile read. The story has a modern twist in its handling of the desires, struggles, and triumphs that the characters face. She brings biblical characters to life while still creating intrigue around such well-known figures and stories. If Jesus had a wife, I'd like to think she was someone like Kidd's, Ana.

Please, do not let the fact it's got Jesus in it deter you from at least trying this out. It's a phenomenal book... Ms. Kidd brings new breath into not only Jesus, but Ana, his wife. She (Ana) is a voice. She refuses to be silent. She ensures she, and her words, live on after Jesus' death. She's a force to be reckoned with.
This is one of my highest rated books of the year, and I'll be recommending it a lot.

This one was so good, even better than I expected. I love it when a book lives up to the hype. This book tells the story of Ana, who is a spirited and intelligent woman who lives to write stories, and who also happens to be the wife of a very human version of Jesus. I love stories like this that explore the lives of women from history. So often, those stories have been marginalized and forgotten altogether. Ana‘s story is fascinating and told well

I absolutely adored this book. I almost didn't get it, but I'm so glad I did. It was heartwarming and I loved to think that Jesus had a wife that he called "Little Thunder" as a way to show that he accepted and loved her inner rumbling.

Ana reminded me a lot of myself. She was feisty, strong, and smart. It was refreshing to read true feminist main characters. Highly recommend this one. ❤

This book was fantastic! While the story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his wife Anna. I love the whole back story of her life and what she had to go through in that life. Wonderful woven story of life, love and friendship.

Good morning! I woke up to find my Book of the Month box on the porch, and I'm really excited about this month's choices. I have been in such a ridiculously awful reading slump lately, and I'm hoping a YA & a thriller might pull me out of that.

Featuring a lemon donut and Pike Place roast 😋

Rachel.Rencher @sharread That's the one I'm reading first! 👏 4y
Librariana I ordered The Book of Longings from my local indie, but it'll be a couple of days before I can pick it up 😊 Hope you enjoy all three of these and that The Knockout Queen helps get you out of your slump! 4y

Shhhh ... don‘t tell Mr. B ... I spent money on books ...

Finally got this unboxed. Are you leaving things untouched for a few days because of the virus too? I‘m excited for my BFF status and the new tote, which I will make good use of once I start working again! I‘m anxious to read this book as well. #bookhaul #botmbff #botm

Velvetfur That bag looks lovely! What does it say on the front? 💙 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Velvetfur It says Book Pocket. The other side says Book of the Month. 4y
Librariana My husband is my link to the outside world, so he kindly disinfects groceries for us and I wait before putting them away 😊 Other than that, I haven't thought about leaving the books out for a couple of days... But since I just got a package from one of my local indies today, I may give that suggestion a try 💜 4y

This is a beautiful story about a women living during the time of Jesus. The historical detail is amazing and the storyline pulled me in with rich thoughtful words. The main character Ana is strong willed and feisty which made for an interesting tale. You follow her life in this story beginning from twelve years old. 5 stars, loved it.

After two months of skipping, I'm so happy to fill my #botm box this month! I've heard some great things about Kidd's new one from a pretty diverse pool of reviewers I follow (some who are self-acclaimed devout Christians, as well as some who have other faith affiliations/no faith affiliation), so I'm expecting big things! Also saw some great reviews for The Paris Hours and I've been dying to get a new thriller in my hands 🤗
