I liked the characters, &it was quite an imaginative twist on a Cinderella retelling, full of female empowerment.
The pacing was a bit off, the resolution fell together too cleanly but I may pick up the sequel at some point

I love a twisted fairytale, and this one is no exception. There were times that I thought I had it all figured out, but I was still surprised more than once.
I hope that #cinderellaisdead does not end boring. If it has a good ending it is definitely a 5-star read!
Oh I LOVED this. Such an inventive retelling, it gave me all the feels, especially the final paragraph. Rocketed to my list of all time favorites. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of the best books I ever read. It has a super LGBTQ+ representation. It is so interesting and it is written extremely nice (so good that I sometimes cried even if nothing bad happened). I would recommend this book also for people (like me) who don‘t really like typical princes stories because this gives a extremely nice new and unexpected view to this fairytales. I also wold recommend it for people who didn‘t read much English books. #LGBT
The tale of Cinderella is done. 200 years later, it‘s been used to create a culture where women are powerless & forced to attend yearly balls. Sophia just wants to escape. Until she discovers the truth of Cinderella.
This was charming & obviously a debut. Shallow world building, an uneven pace, & an abrupt ending. But it was also a fresh, QPOC reimagining of one of my favorite fairy tales with little references to the Grimm story. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Despite LOVING this book when I read it on my kindle last summer, I am really struggling with my audio re-read. I can't tell if it just landed at the right time for me last year, or if the narrator is the issue. But I'm pretty sure the MC was just less bratty/whiny in my own head-voice 😅
#BookFormatMatters 🙁
A good twist on the classic tale. Was it perfect? No. Was it bad? No. Generally meh.
Went to town and came back with these. I have no regrets hehe. Thank you @TheWolfbehindTheEyes for the books you got me too. Super excited to read these #cinderella #fairytale #retellings #dragons #magic #series
I love the idea of this book, the blurb makes it sound sooo good. A queer, BIPOC, feminist, patriarchy-smashing Cinderella. However the execution just leaves things to be desired, the world building is kinda sparse, most things are told instead of shown so it‘s hard to connect. But I love the representation and the idea of it, and the disconnect may be just me personally so give it a try if it sounds remotely intriguing to you.
I have not managed to read a book since my son was born (almost 6 months ago), but this week I read Cinderella is Dead cover to cover and loved every word. My soul is full again 🥰
50 pages into this book and getting real taylor swift ivy vibes 🥰 does anyones associate books with songs 😊
Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈
Couldn't believe this beauty was on the banned book table at Barnes & Noble! I will never rid my copy because I love the Love this book teaches. What's normal for some doesn't mean it's right for everyone. Let's love unconditionally!

Excuse my pale legs as I post this from the backseat of my friend‘s car. Brought this with me on my first ever camping trip! It kept me occupied as we drove. A QPOC romance with tough heroines that fight the patriarchy! 200 years after Cinderella, women are forced to go to balls to get married off in a kingdom with zero rights. Sofia runs away from the ball to escape this fate, but unknowingly embarks on a journey that could change everything.
This book is SOOOOO good. If you like fairytale retelling a and badass girls and lgbtqia representation. Y‘all this book tho. I had heard it was good but 🤯🤯🤯🤯 I think I‘m in love
Just finished this book and I absolutely adored it! This retelling of the classic Cinderella story had me hooked from the beginning and it makes me want to dive into more Cinderella related material! I cannot wait to read more from this author!
If you like feminist or queer retellings of fairy tales, or dystopian reads, you might enjoy this! I'm disappointed that I hated it, because it's a fun story (and the author is from my area), but there were a few things that didn't work for me. Maybe it's because I'm a-spec, but I felt like Sophia's immediate attraction to and fixation on Constance was unbelievable. Sophia's so smitten with her right away that she can't focus on anything as...
I loved this book! Granted I haven‘t read a lot of fairytale retellings but this one is AMAZING. I loved the fight for equality and the LGBTQ+ representation. The characters were great and overall, the book was quite emotional. Highly recommended by me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Do not be silent.
Raise your voice.
Be a light in the dark.
“For Liv,“ I say. “For Lille. For Cinderella.“
“You may rule this land,“ I say, pushing down the swell of terror that threatens to consume me. “But you do not rule me.“
"Do you even know how to use a sword? Women aren‘t permitted to-"
"The pointy end goes in your neck," Constance snaps.
“Why did you change your mind?“ I ask.
“You, Sohpia,“ says Amina. “You're a damn sharp sword. A wildfire.“
“We all make choices that we wish we could take back. But we can't change what has already happened. The only thing we can do is try to make things better now.“
Finished! This book was really good, and probably one of the best cinderella retellings I‘ve ever read! It‘s obviously getting: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“The palace underestimates the resourcefulness of women forced into a dark and dangerous place.“
“Something small. A choice we make because, in the moment, we need to make it. But that doesn't mean it's any less important. I believe that things happen for a reason, Sophia. If you hadn't left the ball when you did, we never would have met.“
“Must be fate.“
“Maybe don‘t try to stab every man you see,” Amina shoots back.
Constance looks at me and shrugs. “It‘s a habit.”

Excited to join the Book Spin challenge! (I hope I did this right... 😅)
Loved this book. I kept this one in my purse and took everywhere. Finally finished it this morning so I can start the rest of my November reads. The retelling of The Cinderella story was amazing. There was action, plot twist, and kept me engaged. This book is very relatable. Great POC female lead and LGBTQ story. This is a book I recommend for everyone to feel empowered. 8/10 #paperback #woc #poc #lgbtq #femalelead #fantasy #ya
#LexieCat is enjoying this book much more than I did! We already have one book biter, #ChipmunkCat , and it looks like we adopted another!
I started reading this one a handful of times and bailed. However, I borrowed the audiobook from the library when I saw it was narrated by the incomparable Bahni Turpin and ended up listening to it in one day!
I wanted so much to love this. It has all the right ingredients but everything was surface level, and rushed. I had zero feelings for any of the characters at the end, and was confused or annoyed by most of the relationships. Instant love is rarely done right (not done well here) I have no clue what Sophia sees in Erin.
Great concept poor execution

The number 1 reason to stay in bed on a Sunday morning, ignoring chores and other responsibilities... reading the last 5% of a book 😊
