Okay, so I'm on page 300 of my Rhythm of War reread, and considering I have the whole rest of the month to finish it - I think it's safe to say that I'm in the home stretch! 🥳🎉🎉🎉 There are a couple of touch and go moments there, where I was unsure about whether I would really be able to finish rereading this whole series before the next book comes out in early December! But I've totally got this! 💕🥳 And it has been such a fun adventure! 🥰
"The most important step a man can take. It's not the first one, is it?"
"It's the next one. Always the next step."
???
I'm almost done with my Stormlight Archive reread! I just have to finish this last book! I'm really excited about Book 5 which comes out early next month! The quote above is one of my favorites from the series, and has brought me a lot of comfort this week.
Just started book #4 of the #StormlightArchive series. 💫
I highly recommend this immersive, epic series for fantasy lovers!
🙋♀️ Drop me a comment if you‘re a fan of this series too!
The fifth book will be released later this year 👏.

I finally have a Sanderson shelf! Hopefully with enough space for the 5th book in The Stormlight Archive series (I doubt it) .😄 I have read all of these with the exception of Arcanum Unbounded that still has some short stories left unread.
The thick paperbacks have the disadvantage of easily getting the spines damaged if you open the books. I might one day get the hardcovers if I feel like upgrading my physical library, but not for now...
Time for another monthly wrap up. May was a good month. I finally finished up Rhythm of War, which took most of my month. But I listened to some really great audiobooks along the way too. I‘m glad to finally have finished The Stormlight Archives, but I can‘t wait for the next book to come out.
What did you read this month?

I‘ve done it! I finally finished Rhythm of War. Overall, I mostly loved it but I did find that it dragged in a few places.
I think it was because more of Venli‘s pov was thrown in the mix. I found myself wanting to get back to the characters that I know and loved. But I eventually warmed up to Venli and the story picked back up.
Sanderson closed a lot of plot points in this story but opened up so many more. I‘m interested to see where it goes.
The stars aligned and Cj and I finally had three days off together. So, we packed up the truck and headed to Dekalb County Lake in Sylvania to camp for the first time this year.
We had a ton of fun! I wasn‘t ready to leave. It was a weekend full of food, family, and good books.

I don‘t have a big tbr this month. I just want to finish Rhythm of War
What are you reading this month?
https://wildwoodreads.com/2023/05/01/may-2023-tbr/
Remember that nice tbr that I had planned for April?
Yeah, me either, apparently. 🤷♀️ Rhythm of War keeps calling my name. I can‘t focus on anything else so I might as well dive into this one. Wish me luck.
Also, look how cute this mug is. My husband got it for me for Easter. He‘s the best.
Just started Rhythm of War. I bought this when it was first published and it has sat on my shelf ever since. I was just not in the mood to tackle the 1232 pages. Finally feeling up to the challenge.

1️⃣ Shallan from “The Stormlight Archives”. Shallan started as a con artist, so she‘s experienced in pretending to be other people. And now that she can cast illusions, she could even bring her own CGI effects to Hollywood!
2️⃣ “Orphan Black”. Shallan could play an entire Clone Club almost as well as Tatiana Maslany did! Sorry, Shallan, but NO ONE could be better at playing clones than Tatiana was!
I really enjoyed this. Sanderson has quickly become an all time favorite author. Though not my favorite in the series (hands down Words of Radiance), it is still an amazing world with fantastic characters. Now the wait for book 5! 4.5⭐️
All the books in this series so far are #600+pages 😬… emphasis on the plus ➕➕➕

4 out of five wind sprites! 🧚🏻♀️🧚🏻♀️🧚🏻♀️🧚🏻♀️
It‘s a few days since I finished this buddy read with the wonderful @Branwen and I‘m still processing my feelings. While I enjoyed the book, it is my least favorite of the series so far, as I felt the heroes stories went in unsatisfying directions. But while the protagonists got short-changed, the villains shined brighter than ever, thanks to the introduction of the fascinating Raboniel!
Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😀
I just realized I still haven‘t posted a review of this book! 😳
1. Raboniel. She‘s everything a book villain should be: charismatic, clever, formidable, and usually at least three steps ahead of the heroes. She‘s so good at being bad, I almost started rooting for her!
2. I‘d like to see the main characters all get happy endings, but since it will be a Sanderson book, that ain‘t happening! 😭
Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView
1. I‘m hoping to finish both the tagged book and “Frankenstein” this month! I only have 50 pages left in Rhythm of War!
2. As someone who reads a lot of fantasy, I am so sick of everything being described as smelling of “jasmine”! C‘mon, fantasy authors, there are other scents out there! Also, like many readers, I‘m so sick of characters releasing breaths they didn‘t know they were holding! 🤦🏻♂️
Where do I even start reviewing a book like Rhythm of War?
Brandon Sanderson bores me rigid for 600 pages and then blows my mind for another 600.
At the start, I was ready to bail on the whole series, by the end he's got me craving the next instalment.
There are things I love about the series, there are things I intensely dislike.
When is the next one coming out?
"You told me it would get worse."
"It will," Wit said, "but then it will get better. Then it will get worse again. Then better. This is life, and I will not lie by saying every day will be sunshine. But there will be sunshine again, and that is a very different thing to say. That is truth. I promise you, Kaladin: You will be warm again."
"We need both heart and mind," Lirin said. "The heart might provide the purpose, but the head provides the method, the path. Passion is nothing without a plan. Wanting something doesn't make it happen."
@tokorowilliamwallace Taking your advice and teaming RoW with some chili mead 🌶🍯🍸 (In my personalised chalice, just to be fancy 😁)
The story actually seems to be picking up a bit now 🤞🤞so @Branwen & @DaveGreen7777 don't have to disown me just yet 😉😂
Happy Friday to you all!
(Look away now Sanderson-superfans. I don't want to make you sad. 💕 )
I'm on page 369.
There are 1222 pages.
1222 - 369 = 853 pages to go.
853 pages is about 28.5 hours more of my life.
The fact that I am calculating this is probably a sign that I'm not enjoying myself any more. I never usually DNF books though, so I'm committed.
Please get better, Book!
Apparently there is a new TikTok trend...
- Pick up the nearest book to you
- Turn to Page 30
- Read the first sentence
- This is supposed to describe your love life
My sister, Annis': "You've been faking it." ?
Me: "What lay before her seemed an impossibility" ??
Dad: "Sir, the animal salesman said, our asking price is already $1000 under book" ???
LET ME KNOW YOURS!!!! ❤?❤?❤?
I did it! It took about a month, but I finished this book. It features mental health a lot, including suicidal thoughts. It begins one year after the end of the last book. We get to travel through Shadesmar again, which I find absolutely fascinating. Amazing worldbuilding and I'm very much invested in these characters. Sanderson is writing the next book this year, so I have a bit of a wait to find out what happens next.
This book is taking me longer than I hoped. But I did just get to part 3 (of 5) and am about half way through. I do love this series very much.
Thanks for the tag @Yuki_Onna 💕

💫 I have (as usual) signed up to way more reading challenges than I can possibly achieve 😳 but that's OK because they're great fun.
💫 So far I've spent most of 2022 in hibernation, so difficult to pick a word yet.
💫 Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I'm not really sure what I think about this series anymore! Mostly I feel guilty for not adoring it.
Here's my January #BookSpin list. I've only gotten 200 pages into Rhythm of War the last two weeks, so I'm including it on the list in two spots since I have over a 1000 pages left.
Sanderson somehow keeps raising the stakes - book #4 and it just gets more intense. I really appreciated Navani's character arc in this one. And it's impressive how everything starts to tie together and reveal more about how the world of Roshar (and the Cosmere) works without compromising character development or plot. It doesn't drag, despite the length - if anything, sometimes there's almost too much going on to keep track of it.
Instead of reading ARCs or what's on my December bingo card, I decided to end 2021 with the behemoth 1232 page book. I'm in the mood for some epic fantasy.
Reading Rhythm of War with my dragon pals. Still quarantined off and bored stiff, although Mum has been keeping me supplied with hot drinks! ☕💕
I've been really enjoying reading your posts today. Litsy is wonderful and I love being a part of such a warm, friendly, funny, wholesome, supportive community, full of people as book-obsessed as me ❤ Thanks for keeping me entertained!!

Finishing this was the culmination of a year-long reading of all 4,574 pgs of the series so far. I‘ve grown attached to the characters though this one became repetitive. I also missed the dynamic of certain characters‘ interactions as they were mainly split up in the 2nd half of this book. I loved seeing Navani grow as an inventor. Shallan‘s & Kaladin‘s stories were exhausting as they battled inner demons. Wit provides some of my favorite moments.
“‘Extinction is the natural escalation of this war,‘ Leshwi whispered. ‘If you forget why you are fighting, then victory itself becomes the goal. The longer we fight, the more detached we become. Both from our own minds, and from our original Passions.‘”
“He stepped softly through the library. Honorspren liked their books, judging by the extensive collection—but he rarely saw them in here. They seemed to enjoy owning the books, treating them like relics to be hoarded.”
Hoarding books but not getting around to reading them? Apparently if I were a creature from a fantasy novel, I‘d be an Honorspren! 🤦🏻♂️
It's finally time! I finished Oathbringer last night and am finally moving on to Rhythm of War today.
Couldn't have come at a better time. Repairs on my car are taking longer than expected, which killed my holiday weekend plans. But at least I should get to really dig into reading.

Book Outlet sale … 9 books! Amazon … 1 book.
The HC of RoW was $8! The map on the reversible dust jacket was worth the $!
I like Cussler‘s Oregon Files! There wasn‘t a picture on the website but it was $3. I took it out of the box to find that it‘s SIGNED by Cussler!
25 books/audiobooks purchased in July! (1 hasn‘t been delivered yet)
OK I‘ll stop gushing … I obviously have a book problem …. Oh well … at least I‘m enjoying it! 🙌
He stepped away from the wall. Syl stood in the air beside him, inspecting the fabrial.
“So?” Kaladin asked her. “What do you think?”
“I think you‘re going to look extremely silly using it. I can‘t wait.”
Syl is THAT friend who enjoys her friends‘ embarrassment just a little too much! 😂🤣
“The various humans continued their packing, storing everything in wagons for the day‘s storms. The humans were good at judging the arrival of those - though they were often wrong on the hour, they were usually right on the day.”
We‘re good at predicting the weather?! This book really is high fantasy! 😂🤣
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 141.

Thank you for this #ThoughtfulThursday @MoonWitch94 and thank you for the tag @Branwen 😀
1️⃣ “That” death from “Mistborn: The Final Empire”. If you read the book, you know the one I mean! 😢
2️⃣ “The Inheritance” by Tom Savage. I have a problem with twist endings that make no sense or don‘t hold up under scrutiny, but this was a twist ending done right! It blew me away, and it made perfect sense when I looked back at the story. 😱
3️⃣ Done! 😁
I have my sunny weather reading space set up for lunch time reading and couldn't be happier. Grad school has been burning me out on reading but I have finally gotten into Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson which I bought on the release date in November and left on my bookshelf until I had the will to read again.
“That is the most ridiculous thing I‘ve ever heard! Robbing Jasnah.”
“Isn‘t it though?”
“Robbing JASNAH?!”
“I know!”
“She‘s never mentioned this, so I bet you did it, didn‘t you? At least, you fooled her for a little while.”
“I totally did! I almost escaped. Except, you know, she‘s Jasnah!”
Rule #1 of the Stormlight Archive... Never EVER mess with Jasnah Kholin! 😳
4.75⭐What a roller coaster ride! This book had a slower pace than the other books in the series due to the themes of politics and war, but it had all of the heart, air of mystery, grandiose world-building, and even humor that I've come to expect from this series. This is a book that you don't dare spoil, so my review is brief. ⬇
