Funny how a lot has happened while reading, but I found the book lacking. It was well-written but the story seemed a little shallow. Loved it still because of its historical references. Finished it fast enough also.

I am so disappointed. I liked how the synopsis made the book seem, and then I read it. Two stars ⭐️ and both of them are for the only character with any sense and who holds my entire heart: Ishraq.
This was a great start to a series. Not the usual fantasy. @PuddleJumper #roll100 #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks #thesupernaturalyear changeling @AkashaVampie
During my first hiatus back in September/October I binged the Order of Darkness series by Philippa Gregory. The first book is Changeling but I was able to get bind up with books 1-3 a few years ago and then just never picked up a copy of the final book, Dark tracks.
While this series is not Gregory‘s best work I still enjoyed my time in this world and she is still one of my favorite authors of all time.

A couple young adult medieval 🏰 novels of Philippa Gregory‘s to try.
Love love the show Merlin 🧙♂️; sad it no longer runs. It was a good wholesome show, featuring the friendship between Merlin and King Arthur!

Picked these beauties up today!
I tried Gregory‘s Wideacre novel and couldn‘t stomach the content, so I gave her up for lost. But when I spotted these and read the back cover, well, I think they‘ll redeem Gregory for me. Can‘t wait to give these a go!
For Philippa Gregory this somehow is not as great as her other historical fiction. Luca was an interesting and inquisitive man in Church, but the main star is of course Lady Abbess, who is the suspect/ victim in the book.
I like it, but not as much.
Just finished book 1, so I am counting each book as a separate one. I love the fact that the adventures so far are disputing religious “mysteries” by solving the mysteries to be explainable events. You have to put yourself into the 15th century mindset and remember that most everything was explained as God willed or due to sin.
This turned out to be a bit of an ordeal to get through. The storyline felt completely weak and disjointed, especially towards the end when it took a very unbelievable route that seemed completely unrelated to the rest of the story. I was hoping to finish the series before seeing Philippa Gregory talk but I don‘t know if I can do that to myself. #changeling #philippagregory #orderofdarkness
In preparation for seeing Philippa Gregory talk as part of her Dark Tracks tour at the start of February, I have begun my quest to read the first 3 instalments of the Order of Darkness series. I am a massive fan of her Tudor/War of the Roses series‘ so I am looking forward to finding out how her own stories compare to her historical fiction #Philippagregory #Darktracks #Orderofdarkness #Changeling #Stormbringers #Foolsgold #Sheffield
I shall use this one for multiple challenges. #seductiveshakespeare - #puck according to all tales, is one of the more powerful fae. This book is about a supernatural being, quite probably of the fae family . @jenniferw8
#septembowie challenge, the main character truly embodies #rebelrebel . @Cinfhen & @Marchpane
#fallintobooks challenge - few books in my collection which have any #cursive on them. @RealLifeReading
I love Gregory's historical fiction (despite the heavy romance angle she takes), but this one was kind of flat. It's the first in a series, so it might pick up, but it's not to her usual level of storytelling.
