From the acclaimed author of the ripping good (The New York Times) debut novel Three Graves Full comes a new thriller hailed as superbwill entrance readers from page one. Sly, poignant, and beautifully written (Library Journal, starred review). Dee Aldrich rebelled against her off-center upbringing when she married the most conventional man she could imagine: Patrick, her college sweetheart. But now, years later, her marriage is falling apart and shes starting to believe that her husband has his eye on a new life...a life without her, one way or another. Haunted by memories of her late mother Annette, a former covert operations asset, Dee reaches back into her childhood to resurrect her mothers lessons and the spy games they played together, in which Dee learned memory tricks and, most importantly, how and when to lie. But just as she begins determining the course of the future, she makes a discovery that will change her life: her mother left her a lot of money and her own husband seems to know more about it than Dee does. Now, before its too late, she must investigate her suspicions and untangle conspiracy from coincidence, using her mothers advice to steer her through the blind spots. The trick, in the end, will be in deciding if a normal life is really what she wants at all. With pulse-pounding prose and atmospheric settings, Mondays Lie is a thriller that delivers more of the Hitchcockian menace (Peter Straub) that made Three Graves Full a critical hit. For fans of the Coen brothers or Gillian Flynn, this is a book you wont want to miss.

1. I have 4 meals out and a wedding this week 😳 lots of food ahead, and an author event with @JenReadsAlot
2. The trio singing Hakuna Matata in Lion King as no worries and take it easy is good advice.
3. Warm weather for enjoying nature, sprucing up my yard.

slategreyskies When I was in Botswana years ago, a group of my friends and I were singing songs from musicals to pass the time on a bus journey. When we sang Hakuna Matata, our African friends were shocked, saying “Where did you hear that!?” Apparently, it‘s an actual phrase in the language. I‘d always assumed it was made up for the movie, but it‘s genuine. Cool, huh? 😎 10mo
Cupcake12 Enjoy all the food. I saw The Lion King in London last year and I loved it. Can‘t wait for spring. Have a good week x 10mo
peaKnit @slategreyskies what a neat experience for you, and yes, it‘s Swahili, how cool is that? Hakuna Matata! It should be a universal saying lol. 10mo
BethM What author event are you guys doing? 10mo

Thanks to the #bibliophilebookexchange run by @collegecatlady , I had the opportunity to read this fun thriller. This was such a quick and fun read on a woman finding what exactly her mother used to do, while also investigating her husband. While some things got neatly tied up, it was hard to put down. A good thriller.

I devoured Mason's first book and jumped right into this one (her second). The stories were very different, but I enjoyed both. Very fast paced. The best bits of this one were how her mother, a former government agent, cleverly trained the narrator and her brother in spy craft. Fun read!!!!

Tnovo That sounds like a fun read! Stacked this one 📚 8y
