⭐️⭐️⭐️This book was good but not great. There was no lightning or thunder for me. It was like being on a roller coaster without hills or loops, waiting for the exciting pivotal point that never happens, then finding out you're actually on the kiddie log flume. The writing was decent and I liked the characters, but I just couldn't feel the passion.

So far, this is a sweet love story and excellent insight into life with severe anxiety.

Yesterday was chaos in the library... like I literally had a fistfight between two teenage boys and over the course of the day had to kick 6 students out. I never kick students out of the library... Christmas break seriously cannot come soon enough.

What I liked about this book is how it dealt with selective mutism, a condition you don‘t hear much about. However, once you strip away that unique characteristic, everything else about this book read like the cliched teen romances that are so popular these days. It dragged a little too much in places, not to mention I wanted to see more of the everyday struggle in order to understand this rarely explored topic. Oh well.

Steffi has been a selective mute for most of her life. Rhys, the new boy at school, sees her. He's deaf, and her knowledge of basic sign language means that she's assigned to look after him. To Rhys, it doesn't matter that Steffi doesn't talk, and as they find ways to communicate, Steffi finds that she does have a voice, and that she's falling in love with the one person who makes her feel brave enough to use it.

This book is so beautiful! I loved every word, every chapter. Steffi is a teenager with several anxiety problems and selective mutism (which is a consecuence of that anxiety). She gets better when she meets Rhys, a new & deaf boy in her school.

These two were so cute. Really really cute. I loved them both and their story and I was so happy for Steffi because she was really better and I couldn't help but feel that she *really* deserved it.

Everything is so beautiful in this book. I hope there's no drama because I seriously want this couple to end happy and TOGETHER please and thank you.

There‘s nothing like starting a new book on a summer‘s evening.

Oh man this book made me feel all arm and fuzzy.

Steffi suffers from crippling anxiety that causes her to be a selective mute. Rhys is deaf and when he meets Steffi they form a beautiful relationship that turns into more. They experience first love together and navigating a world that is hard for them but they grow together. This story gives a view into what life with anxiety is like.

Such a sweet story. It was also interesting to see another persons though process when dealing with anxiety. I found I related to a lot of Steffi's thought processes.

I've learned with being in 3 postal bookclubs that I require notes to self. Haha. After I finish The 100 today or tomorrow, I'll be reading A Quiet Kind of Thunder for #lmpbc #groupo. Then the next book for #postlit and then the next book for #thebreakfastbookclub. Busy busy.

I haven't started this book yet but I can't wait to. I've heard so many amazing things about it and it finally was released in the US.

Emotional and adorable. I loved it. This is another book I needed as a teen. Anxiety and panic attacks are portrayed wonderfully. The cast of characters is diverse and interesting. Each one comes to life even with the single character first person perspective. I enjoyed watching the friendship of Steffi (selective mute) and Rhys (deaf) develop and grow. A book about friendship and love and speaking your truth. #ya

I'm excited to start this. It already speaks to me. 😆

So I just finished this sweet little contemporary. I was so happy with this. It's about Steffi, a girl suffering of social anxiety, selective mutism and panic attacks, that falls in love with Rhys, a boy who can't hear. And it's such a good love story. They meet and get to know each other and help each other communicate and interact with the world. It's so great how this book progresses and I love all about it. 😍

I'm normally not a fan of contemporary romance, but I really wanted to read this book as 1 one our main character is selectively mute and the other character is deaf.
The story was simple but cute, A really quick read and book format was interesting (it also highlights when they use BSL.)

I gave it 4/5 ⭐

A cute, quick read with fantastic rep for anxiety disorders and deafness. I loved that it steered clear of so many awkward tropes I find too often in YA contemporaries - no instalove, no love-interest-fixes-mental-health, no forgetting friends & family exist when love interest appears.
