Wow!! This was sooo good! I love a good revenge book! Very cleverly written! I listened to the audiobook, but now I need to buy a copy for my library!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

Though not as amazing as Night Swim, still a fun read. This mystery-thriller with elements of horror doves into the brutal world of high stakes finance. With unlikeable characters this may not sound appealing, but it has a dark twist you discover as the book develops, between two viewpoints- a group of employees at an investment firm on a seeming team building exercise in an escape room,⬇️

4.25 stars- This book was very enjoyable and kept me guessing. I also liked that everyone even the “villains“ was a full-fleshed-out character. The unexpected consequences of our actions were a great thing to highlight. The only characters I liked were Lucy, Lucy's mom, Sara, and Victor. But I think it was supposed to be that way. I really liked the ending. I was glad Victor was the only one to survive the elevator
This one was a page turner! I wanted to know what was going to happen next throughout the book. The action starts early but is broken up with another pov to learn the backstory. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My reading buddy ❤️
Next up: we watched Escape Room 2: Tournament of Champions! I really liked the first movie and have been waiting for this one to come out for a while now. It wasn‘t quite as good as the first but it did tie the two movies together, which I love! It also left it open for another possible movie, which could be fun. 6 more points for #teamslaughter!
Who doesn't like seeing (or reading) about some overentitled baddies getting what they deserve?
A group of financiers for an elite company are forced to participate in a mandatory 'team building' experience. Only, when it's over, they're still trapped - which is when the real fun begins!
Revenge is best served cold - unless it's a sizzling summer beach read! A fun, fast paced foray into the corporate world of backstabbing and bad ideas.
Wall Street is truly terrifying all on its own. Add murders and people trapped together in an elevator, and you've got one hell of a stressful story. It was a good ride!

Book 4 done.
A solid thriller about the cutthroat world of finance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐⭐⭐⭐ a mysterious team building event...the escape room is actually an elevator.... the feeling of claustrophobia for me was real whilst reading this book. Stuck in an elevator with some of your most ruthless colleagues in the finance industry. Running out of food and water and time. This book had me gripped from the start with an ending I did not anticipate. It has me looking twice at elevators before stepping inside and side eyeing my colleagues
THE BEST BOOK IVE READ IN AWHILE!!!!!!
Worth all the caps & punctuation.
I didn‘t hate this but I just wasn‘t at all compelled to read it. I finished it because I read it for a book club. The characters in the “escape room” are all awful human beings. Maybe I‘m just not in the right headspace to read about terrible immoral humans who have no respect for others. 🤷🏼♀️I didn‘t like the ending either. The Night Swim by this author is MUCH better. Baby foxes in my neighborhood! #foxesoflitsy😂
Escape rooms are fun, but this is terrifying! In a real elevator, not having the safety features of a set-up room, and not even knowing who set it all up. None of the characters are especially likable. The chapters actually alternate between the four in the elevator, and backing up in time to another character who once worked with them, so her chapters go over her time at the firm. Despite disliking the characters, I wanted to keep reading
Trying to catch up on some backlogged NetGalley ARCs for my #20in4.
The four main characters in the lift run the gamut of bad behaviour: greed, fraud, infidelity, backstabbing, and violence. I worked out what was going on pretty early on but it was still an entertaining read. 4🌟
Thanks to NetGalley and publishers, Orion Publishing Group, for the opportunity to read an ARC. #NetGalley

This was a great debut novel and in my opinion even better than The Night Swim - Read as part of the #popsugarreadingchallenge2021 5/5
Four investment bankers from the same “team” within their company are required to take part in an escape room challenge. Or is it something else? It seemed very obvious to me what was happening and I could punch lots of holes in this, but the bottom line is the suspense builds well and I definitely wanted to keep turning the pages. I enjoyed it!
This was a fun, quick read. It‘s a who-dun-it mystery, with 4 Wall Street bigwigs trapped in an elevator set up as an escape room. On alternating chapters, we read from a different character‘s perspective on events leading up to the escape room. I thought the end was super obvious from the beginning, but it was fun seeing how everyone got there. I really enjoyed this!
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It kept me very interested and wanting to keep reading. The chapters alternated between one character and the other characters who were trapped in an elevator. I was completely surprised by the ending but I do have to admit that I kind of felt like it came together and was all tied up a little too quickly. However I really did like this book much more than I thought I was going to.
Had to pick up this one after reading The Night Swim. It was fast-paced and intriguing! I enjoyed it.😊📖📚
I loved this one!! Right until the last two chapters. I adore a locker room mystery and this one delivered! High stakes, alternating storylines, real world issues. But the end fell flat, just a bit too tidy. Still, it helped the hours pass at work, so it‘s a pick for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley
I had put off reading this ARC because I thought it was a horror, and I really don't like gory stuff, but it's definitely more of a mystery/thriller. This is a fun, quick ready. My only criticism is because she uses a first-person narrator, the ending is literally her telling you what happened rather than showing.
A quick and entertaining read! This is the first physical book that‘s really captivated me since I‘ve been in self-isolation. Is it the most well written, believable book I‘ve ever read? Nah, but it sure held my attention!
What a ride this was! Read it in two sittings, it was that hard to put down. Are the characters likable? Definitely not. Was the writing repetitive? At times. Plot believable? Not really, especially at the end. Was it entertaining? Oh yes, yes it was. The writing was addictive and the characters were flawed. The ending seemed rushed and info-dumpy. I wanted a bit more but overall this was a fast, entertaining thriller. #MarchUnshelfing
Overall, decent and fun, and I flew through it, but it didn‘t blow me away.
4/5 stars - This book was suspenseful from start to finish. There are two parallel story lines that run throughout - that of Sara and that of the four people stuck in an elevator. I found myself trying to connect the two and at around the halfway mark I predicted where the story was headed, but I didn‘t know the “how”. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I found the characters to be well developed. I will definitely read another book by this author.
I didn‘t read much this weekend, and the long weekend means I have less days to finish all my work this week, so let‘s hope this one gets me out of my reading slump and keeps me motivated to work!
3.5⭐️
I definitely liked the concept of this book. A group of people stuck in an elevator escape room as a team building exercise turned ugly. It had so much great potential. The build up was good and even though it was predictable, I still really enjoyed it. However, I was so disappointed with the end. I really wanted it to end differently. I thought it was so good up until that point.
If you like books to escape to, this one will do it. It‘s just a fun, quick read. A thriller, mystery although predictable, it‘s a good page turner.
Next read! Idk about y‘all but I suck at escape rooms haha. My strategy is if it‘s not nailed down I‘m gonna try to pry it off 😅😆
If you like mousy bitches, this book was a fun fast read.
This book was CRAZY!! I totally didn‘t expect anything that happened! It was a total thrill ride the entire novel. I can‘t wait to see what else Megan Goldin has in store!
Not a fan of this one. I thought the plotting was thin and superficial, and it was just kind of boring. I also couldn‘t help but be annoyed by the cartoonishly exaggerated description of working in the finance industry 🙄 I get that this is dramatized but as someone who‘s worked in NY financial services firms for almost 15 years this was too over the top.
Loving this one - can‘t put it down!
Happy Halloween 🎃 👻

I was not disappointed by this book. It was very suspenseful and exciting to read. I wasn‘t entirely sure where it was headed and I liked the way the escape room played into the whole story. Some of it could have been developed a little bit better and the ending felt a bit rushed, but overall I enjoyed it and am hoping maybe there will be a sequel!
Great book!!! I consider it horror, due to several of my phobias being included. 😂🤣🥺
I really struggled to get through 2/3 of the book. Maybe it was the business scenes and talk that didn‘t interest me. But the last 1/3 went by quickly—basically after there was a dead body.
I‘m not really caring for the Sara chapters but I know it‘s important to the story.
