Lost Gods
Lost Gods: A Novel | Brom
A young man descends into Purgatory to save his wife and unborn child in this gorgeous, illustrated tale of wonder and terror from the mind of master storyteller and acclaimed artist Brom. Fresh out of jail and eager to start a new life, Chet Moran and his pregnant wife, Trish, leave town to begin again. But an ancient evil is looming, and what seems like a safe haven may not be all it appears . . . Snared and murdered by a vile, arcane horror, Chet quickly learns that pain and death are not unique to the living. Now the lives and very souls of his wife and unborn child are at stake. To save them, he must journey into the bowels of purgatory in search of a sacred key promised to restore the natural order of life and death. Alone, confused, and damned, Chet steels himself against the unfathomable terrors awaiting him as he descends into deaths stygian blackness. With Lost Gods, Broms gritty and visceral prose takes us on a haunting, harrowing journey into the depths of the underworld. Thrust into a realm of madness and chaos, where ancient gods and demons battle over the dead, and where cabals of souls conspire to overthrow their masters, Chet plays a dangerous game, risking eternal damnation to save his family.

4 Stars • Lost Gods by Brom follows Chet Moran, who after a tragic attack, finds himself in Purgatory. Here, he must navigate a world of forgotten gods, demons, and souls to find a key that might save his wife and unborn child, as well as redeem his own soul. The story blends themes of redemption, love, and survival in a dark fantasy setting, where Chet's journey through this afterlife tests his character amidst a backdrop of mythological turmoil.

OK, I‘ve been kind of a horrible teammate this month. I was on vacation the first week… the rest of the time I was working and I have not had a day off since the 9th. I did do some reading and I currently have 180 points for spooky/themed books, 10 points for other books, and 1130 points for 113 hours in a readathon. Total 1320 points for reading.

I‘m using this as my #ThinkGreek mythology retelling for #Booked2022… it‘s not a pure retelling but it definitely includes a whole lot of mythology and gods all together in this (absolutely terrifying) purgatory place. Ghosts, gods, demons, angels, monsters and epic battles—there is a LOT going on here, but it‘s definitely a well-written, fascinating story. I think it was bit longer than it needed to be, but otherwise I loved it.

Chet a man willingly seeking his wife & child even through hell. Its a WILD story filled with Gods fighting over the dead. Simplified yes but yeah a plethora of amazing characters emerged from 15 hours of audio to enter me after I had read the pages. I hope you find it engaging lol

AMAZING. This book was wonderful. I finished it in 2 days and it‘s nearly 500 pages—I couldn‘t put it down. Run, don‘t walk, to get this book.

First book of the year! I bought this for myself for Christmas last year and didn‘t get around to it in 2018. This is the last unread Brom on my shelves and I loved all the others so I‘m sure to love this as well—plus the underworld! Ancient, forgotten gods! Damnation! How very exciting

Another trip to the post office, another batch of book mail! Looking forward to diving into lost gods this coming year

BookBoggart I love everything Brom does. This one is probably my favorite. His drawings are also so intense and beautiful. In an odd, great imagination, kind of way 7y
KtheBookwyrm @BookBoggart I came across krampus at Barnes and Noble once, flipped through and got to a page that was about Santa getting his head ripped off and was sold. It was years later that I actually got to read the book and I loved it! I also bought one of his prints because his art is absolutely gorgeous--all dark and beautiful. 7y

This was definately a dark read. Few messed up dreams due to reading it before bed. Alas though tis right up my ally! So imaginative, thought out and informative. The mythology is accurate the odyssey this man endures kept me riveted and rooting for him. Also as I've previously said I'm a sucker for multiple perspectives. Now onto the child thief! I love this author. Oh and his art... dark and alluring just beautiful. #muchlove #darkdelights

An epic adventure of mythic proportions. It was exactly what I wanted it to be when I picked it up. I highly recommend to anyone who likes mythology or quest stories. The worlds were well fleshed out and vivid.

I'm not normally into really dark story lines, but the writing in here is just so vivid and refreshing that I refuse to put it down (until I write a review about it). But between hints to mythology and settings that accompany the adventure, I recommend Brom to anyone.

Mmlindquist15 I think I'm partway through a Brom book somewhere... it wasn't bad; the book was just too big to lug around 😅 (edited) 8y

These are my most anticipated buys and #anticipatedreads of October. I'm so excited for all of these! October book releases are going to make quite a dent in my wallet. 😄 #booktober

tricours I like the look of the Koike book! Horror or crime? (I've never read anything by that author) 8y
BekahB @tricours I think this is more horror than crime, but her bio says she's known for combining horror with detective fiction. She's one of Japan's most popular authors. I've never read anything by her so this will be a nice introduction. 8y
tricours I will have to get my hands on something by her then! 8y
