LaGuardia airport in New York City has been completely remodeled recently. It was a dream! My favorite part was a big Strand shop in Terminal B. I had hours to kill and was thrilled to find it.

It's not Christmas until I #reread this book. I really ought to annotate my copy some year. #yalit #yachristmaslit
Felt forced and even irritating. Maybe this book just was not the book for me 🤔
Lily puts a red notebook on a bookshelf in The Strand, with a cryptic message that will lead the finder of the notebook to clues that spell out a dare. Dash finds the notebook, follows the directions to the message, and then adds a dare of his own for Lily. They continue to pass the notebook back and forth, wondering if they will, or even should, ever meet.

Another quirky teenage romance from Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, and the perfect pick to start my holiday reading list! I love the Nick & Norah vibes. If you want to skip the book, the Netflix series is seriously cute and worth the watch! I watched it today while putting up my tree and decorations. 🥰❤️🎄🎁 3.5/5

#HolidayRomance #BBRC @LibrarianRyan the awkward teen romance - realistic and fun, but I don't think I want to read anymore of Dash and Lily.

Don't you hate when they use the show/movie cover for the book cover? Especially when the characters look nothing like their descriptions in the book. Oh well....the story was still really cute.
I spent some time getting to know my local little free libraries dropping off some festive reads I enjoyed this month, but probably will not revisit. I want to put one in my yard so badly!
My oldest really wanted to build a snowman, but the snow was too soft. Luckily, he accepted my mini snowman and festooned him with wet leaves and sticks.

A boy finds a red moleskin notebook in his favourite bookshop in New York, curious he opens it to find a message encouraging him to fill in the blanks by following a set of clues. What follows is a delightful read about 2 people who connect through the words they share in the little red notebook. Set to the backdrop of New York at Christmas the book creates an atmosphere of hope and possibility and you can‘t help but route for them to find love.
There's a reason I read this every year. I love persnickety Dash and cheerful Lily and how they discover each other through means they never would have anticipated. #yalit #christmasfiction
So cute! Is it bad that I liked the Netflix series more? Of course, the show wouldn't exist without the book! I have a feeling teenage me would be OBSESSED.

I watched 5 episodes of this super cute show on Netflix today. I watched it last year and liked it so much I‘ve been waiting to binge it again to get in the holiday spirit 🤗!
This was cute and I liked it, particularly the relatable teen pretentiousness that was EXACTLY what I was like and the waxing lyrical about the strand bookstore. I will say, though, that this is a clear example of the adaptation being better than the book - the show felt more focused as well as deeper and more magical, and I felt like the ‘dares‘ built more to a more meaningful conclusion with better atmosphere in the show.
Cute YA rom-com set in NYC over Christmas and New Years. I watched the Netflix adaptation last year, and it is a faithful adaptation, though I think the show did improve upon the book. The main characters and side characters all felt a bit more real and charming in the show (may need to rewatch this year!). Love the role that The Strand bookstore plays in both. 7 hours for #WinterGames #TeamGameSleigher and #LittenListen
This is a rare occurrence where I liked the screen adaptation better. I thought book Lily was really immature and the ending was lackluster. Still a decent read though, I would have loved it when I was a teen. (I enjoyed all the subtle references to Nick and Norah sprinkled throughout)

Watched a few episodes of Dash & Lily - I love the scene with the grumpy elf 😅

I loved the Netflix series when I watched it last year, so I had to read the book. So cute, and makes me want to watch the show again.
This was also a great choice for #WGWordSearch (530 words!)

Read the book, then watched the Netflix adaptation. There were some differences between the two of course, but here‘s probably an #unpopularopinion ……. I liked the show better. 🤷🏼♀️
I waited until November 1 to start rewatching dash and lily because I‘m an incurable Christmas goblin. I wish I was a delightfully pretentious New York teen spending Christmas in strand books writing riddles and I cannot wait til December to start being this type of incurable aesthetic romantic again
My heart aches watching this show. I love it. It starts out at The Strand but it reminds me that this will be my first Christmas outside of NYC, which just makes me sad.
It‘s a cute story set in holiday season. I loved Lily‘s character. The story was interesting in the beginning but I didn‘t like the ending much. I ve not watched this series & not a fan of romance, but appreciated this audio narration.

Just as charming as the Netflix adaptation (full disclosure: I‘ve watched it twice already). Love the Max Brenner reference! A cute read for the holiday season or winter.

LOVE!! 5⭐
*Fun Fact* The Strand is on my bucket list!
Scavenger hunts, surprises, & Christmas spirit? All things I love & don't get enough of in my life, so I was probably engaged in the notebook's promise of adventure even faster than Dash was! I liked that both Dash & Lily were young & confused, the way I expect a couple of 16-year-olds to sound. And more than that, the notebook wasn't just a flirtation but a way for them to explore the questions & frustrations that were really tugging at them. ⬇
This book starts on Dec 17th and ends on Dec 27th. Dash is at the Strand in New York when he comes across Lily‘s book of dares that have clues. I liked it as it is a cute YA romance novel that also deals with issues of family, loneliness, and friendship. Both of them pass the notebook around and they do meet.
Just binged all 8 episodes of Dash & Lily on Netflix... did NOT expect it to be that good! #wintergames2020 #merryreaders
This was different but fun. I‘m looking forward to reading the rest in the series and watching the Netflix series.
Just finished all 8 eps. It was cute and easy to fly through. +40 and +1 for #ReadNosedReindeer #WinterGames2020
While I'm not that interested in watching a lot of holiday-themed movies/shows, I did really enjoy reading this book a few years ago, and thought it was the perfect time to tune in to the Netflix series. I'm really enjoying it (and love that they used The Waitresses' “Christmas Wrapping“ in an early episode!).

Binge-watched this today (8 episodes=40 points for #merryreaders) I loved every minute of it and now I, of course, have to go read the books! #wintergames
Not too difficult for most of us to imagine, I bet.
#FirstLineFridays
Super alternative fairy tale ending! Would love to read about her backpacking adventures.
This was a sweet YA holiday romance adaptation. I liked that the episodes were short and sweet, I was able to binge the whole season (8 total episodes) in a few hours. My bf thought it was silly, but by the end even he was getting sucked in! I tried to find a digital copy from my library but the hold wouldn‘t come in until at least January :/
#WinterGames #TeamRedNosedReindeer @StayCurious
Best way I could crop out the pic lol. Gonna try out this series. Wasn‘t big on the book. But hoping this is better
And I've finished watching Dash & Lily. Cute.

I watched the first few episodes of Dash & Lily on Netflix. I realized my college age daughter would like it too. I rewatched those first few with her and she ended up saying one more until we had binged the whole series before she did the schoolwork that needed to be done. I ordered the series of books and read the first one in two days, then immediately started the second.
I am usually not one for holiday movies or YA novels, but one that features reading, The Strand, and is part homage to NYC? I'm in.
Five episodes watched: +25 +1; #merryreaders #wintergames2020 #wintergames @Clwojick
Watched all 8 episodes while my kindle charges. It was adorable. I haven‘t read the book, but I loved the story of two book lovers coming together over a scavenger hunt in The Strand and eventually the scavenger hunt across New York. There is someone out there for everyone. 41 pts #teamreadnosedreindeer #wintergames2020 @StayCurious
Listened to the audiobook then watched it on Netflix with my daughter. We both enjoyed it.
