I found this to be 80% the detailed history of ‘The House of Gucci👜‘ & the remaining covers the murder, aftermath, epilogue & an update - 20 years later. An interesting listen & now…for the movie🎬 but, not tonight😂

A fantastic biography of the luxury fashion brand Gucci from the time of inception to its many public battles, it‘s creative processes, and ofcourse the brutal murder of Maurizio Gucci by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani.
P.s the back cover sounds like the entire book is on the murder but it‘s not! It‘s primarily a book on the fashion business. If you like books on fashion, business and strategy this makes for a gripping read. Loved it.
Ugh! I finally finished this audiobook. This is NOT a True Crime Book!! It's a history of Gucci. The murder is probably about 1 1/2 hours. I would definitely skip it, wish I would have bailed on it.

I'm listened to this as I did some chores around the house and baked some peanut butter cookies 🍪 So far, it's more of a history of the Gucci family than a True Crime Book. I will listen to more tomorrow.
Last book of the #NovelNovember #Readathon
I have finally finished The house of Gucci and let me tell you it was boring as Hell!
Bogged down by way too much family drama and politics I had to go back and find when the death happened which was over in one sentence.

4-13-22: My 34th finished book of 2022! I feel like I read two books rolled into one. While I wanted to read about the murder of Maurizio Gucci ordered by his wife Patrizia, I got more of a story about the family business of Gucci with some murder sprinkled in. The business side of Gucci is extensive and while interesting it wasn‘t what I was looking for. I do look forward to finally seeing the movie. ⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣3️⃣4️⃣
I want to see this movie so I figured I would reach the book first. The book heavily focused on the growth of the Gucci business and the family history. It‘s well written, researched, and detailed. I was only interested in the family dynamics, marriage between Maurizio and Patrizia, their children, and relationships after their separation. I like learning about people; not so much about the business. I‘m pretty sure I will like the movie better.
Fast paced and entertaining read about the Gucci family and brand. Who were so incredibly messy. I mean Patrizia is the notorious one, but your half way through the book before her crazy starts to eclipse the generations of crazy preceding her.
Forden does a really good job of explaining the family dynamics as well as making the business side of things understandable for finance morons like me.
Better than the movie by all accounts.
My main takeaway from all the Gucci drama (AND THERE IS DRAMA) is that Patrizia Reggiani is simultaneously a badass and absolutely terrifying. I cannot believe the things she did and got away with. How was this real life?!
I enjoyed the history on generations of Gucci, even with their wild soap opera dramatics. It was a long story though to get through the whole brand and not just the family.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yeah no. Not in the mood for another 6.5 hours of this. I‘m not sure I ever will be. This is a bit of a disappointment.
@TheAromaofBooks this is my #doublespin. I tried.
Two positive reviews coming soon!
I am a third of the way through the audiobook and twenty minutes has been dedicated to what I would consider true crime. I just can‘t bring myself to care about a rich family that makes bags that are half of my annual income. I gave it a try, but I shall walk away from this before I get frustrated with listening about the family fighting over whether Gucci should make perfume or not.
Finished listening to this on the car yesterday; I really enjoyed it. It‘s not as compelling as other recent non-fiction books I‘ve read recently but still a good read.
It skews a lot more towards the financial side of the Gucci business, rather than the more salacious murder (the subject of the recent Gaga film) but I don‘t mind that side of things so didn‘t find it boring.
Right, I‘m on my way! Heading off on a road trip to meet up with my lovely Litten friends at Gladstone‘s Library in Wales.
I have a couple of hours left on this audio so that should see me through the journey; if not there‘s more lined up on Scribd!

Bought this at the airport and started it while waiting for my first flight. I was absorbed by this true story. The author goes into such detailed history of the family going all the way back to the very first Gucci business. I had no idea it was made into a movie. This literally has it all love, hate, family scandal. In many ways this is a sad, sad all too real story.
This became VERY convoluted!!! I admire the author‘s attention to detail and thorough research but sheesh…the inner financial workings of the fashion industry was TEDIOUS!! Aside from that, The House of Gucci was phenomenal. I really enjoyed learning about the humble beginnings of this luxury brand & then all the scandalous family power plays that led to the murder of Maurizio Gucci. Eager to watch the film, but still a light pick.
#NonFictionNovember RIVETING 😲The scandalous story behind the luxury brand 👜
Wonderful narration 🎧♥️#Hoopla
While reading a NF of the Hilton‘s I also read the upcoming film of the Gucci‘s is based on this 2001 NF book. I requested the audio purchase from my library and they obliged. Even though it took me 2 weeks to work through it, I found the story intriguing. I understand how this would be reference for a fascinating rich people problems movie.
I was excited to read this one before they release the movie, but I‘m finding myself fighting the urge to skim chapters (gasp)...perhaps this time the movie will be better than the book.
