From the time he was a small boy, Wilson Bentley saw snowflakes as small miracles. And he determined that one day his camera would capture for others the wonder of the tiny crystal. Bentley's patience and determination revealed two important truths: no two snowflakes are alike; and each one is startlingly beautiful. Full color.

Review:
This book won a Caldecott medal in 1999. It is about a man named Bently who loved the snow and would spend hours trying to draw the snowflake's intricate details before they melted. He never could until his parents got him a camera. He took amazing pictures of snowflakes and would sell them for really cheap. He never became rich off of the pictures and instead shared his love of snow with others.

Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin is a biography on Wilson Bentley. Snowflake Bentley was a farmer with a passion for nature and wanted nothing more but to share it with the world. He became famous for his micro photography of snowflakes and was very passionate about it. This picture book would be great as a partner read or even an independent read.

BRaulerson A great resource is http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/using-snowflake-b....

A UDL strategy I would use is Highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships. The ESOL Strategy that would be appropriate for this story is Teach think, pair, and share in cooperative groups. This is a great story to talk about who is was and why is he famous. #UCFLAE3414F19

This is a book about a boy who loves snow. He studied the single snowflakes and all the ice crystals. To further his interest, he studied moisture and weather and did experiments with raindrops. #ReadingResolutions Day 23: A quote from this book: “The average dairy farmer gets up at dawn because he has to go to work in the cow yard. I get up at dawn, too. But it is because I want to find some leaf, hung with dew; or a #🕸 which the dew has made into the most delicate ropes of pearls. I take my camera with me, get down on my knees in the wet grass, and photograph these exquisite bits of nature.” My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-8x9

In Vermont we all know the story of Snowflake Bentley. He spent his life magnifying and photographing snowflakes in Jericho, Vermont, proving that each snowflake is uniquely different. After reading this book a zillion times to Captain Adorable, I realized he would appreciate driving the 45 minutes to the Snowflake Bentley Museum. How lovely that we were able to drive there while it was snowing.
