A lovely read so far. 💜

slategreyskies I‘ve been wondering how this one would be. I read Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake and really enjoyed it. I‘ll have to pick up a copy of this one too. 🥰 2y

I liked the strong female characters.

Low pick.

I liked this a lot more than Nine Rules. I liked Nick as a sidekick in 9 Rules and love him here. Isabel is a typical MacLean heroine-strong, sassy, and…unusual. I will admit that I didn‘t love her, but I loved Minerva House and her work there. Plenty of steamy scenes and laugh out loud moments. This is the MacLean I know and love.

Things I liked: the side characters, & the idea of a house in the regency England that is a women-led, women-run secret safehouse for women who are in need of shelter. I cared SO much more about the women of this house than the romance between the main characters. In fact the main characters were so, Incredibly boring that I actually skimmed — skimmed! — the sexy bits. & fam, when you‘re that bored with even the sexy bits...no. ★★½

Just what this tired, anxious Mama who had to send her girl back to college this week needed! Funny, romantic and filled with strong, independent women, I thoroughly enjoyed this #audiobook on my early morning walks. #litsywalkers

keys_on_fire I used to see morning glories on the corn stalks when I used to live in the country. I miss that! Thanks for sharing the beauty :) 4y
Julsmarshall @keys_on_fire Aren‘t they lovely? They are near our mailboxes, about a block from our house, and they always make me smile 😊 4y

A part of this book really bothered me, and that was the fact that men always believe they know better than women what is best for them. The book does redeem itself but I almost put it down for that reason. But after that it becomes yummy.

Another great addition to the series! Read by Mary Jane Wells, this book features a young woman with a dangerous (yet amazingly kind) secret and a lord who has been asked to search for a missing woman. The two meet, and well...you get the idea. Great entertainment!

Jess_Read_This I think I‘ve enjoyed every Sarah Maclean book I‘ve read! She‘s so perfectly reliable for me in a romance book. 5y
ferskner I'm not much of a romance reader but I love this series! 5y
Librarybelle @ferskner I used to read a fair amount of romances but stopped. These are the best things to get me through the work day! 5y

Not my favorite MacLean, I‘m sad to say; it dragged a bit and some parts seemed particularly over-dramatized (even for the genre). I did like the ending. It‘s been taking me forever to get through books lately and I thought some YA or #romantsy would cure it, but no such luck. So busy and stressed at work. 😞

This was a really great book. Isabel helps women who are in desperate situations, doesn‘t believe in love and has no interest in getting married even if she‘s broke. She then meets Nick and everything goes crazy! Love a good romance story! 💕

Mental health has been keeping me away from reading a bit, and sadly, also from this app. Getting into romance novels has definitely helped. ❤️

Strangers to madly in love and married in less than a week? This one just sort of annoyed me...

A twist on damsel in distress trope, making fun of Cosmo articles!

Isabel has trouble trusting men & asking for help, but the safe house for women she runs falls into disrepair & she's left broke. Only solution? Sharing her secrets with Nick.

This volume was sad & darker than the previous one; both protagonists dealing with trauma made for a compelling tale, even if it's messy.

It's about building a strong partnership & letting your guard down.

I loved it!! Finished it in one sitting (when I should have been writing a paper). Great strong female lead and loved Lord Nicholas! Also some steamy #setinalibrary scenes 🔥#seasonsreadings2016 #romantsy

jpmcwisemorgan Write a paper, read a book. I mean, how can you chose? 😉 8y
EloisaJames @jpmcwisemorgan write a page, read a chapter? (Suggests--cough--a prof; it works for grading papers!) 8y

Another great dedication! (I would mind - a lot - on both counts)

JackieSmith I love @sarahmaclean books! She writes strong women who don't throw one another under the bus to get a man. 8y
Beth.Pedota @jackiesmith - definitely! Courtney Milan is also amazing! And I am so sick of the middle class heroine being super off her feet by a billionaire. Julie James is a welcome escape from that narrative. 8y

He raked his fingers through his hair. 'She doesn't need me.'
Ralston smirked. 'You are laboring under the mistaken impression that it is their job to need us. In my experience, it is almost always the other way around.'
