it was not a good idea to read this at 2am in the dark but here we are and i nomnom lia shes so mwah (i also think michael and her work far better idk why!! i just do)
Cassie‘s a natural at reading people. When a serial killer appears on the FBI‘s radar, they ask her to join the other Naturals. Her past catches up w/ her pertaining to her mother‘s murder. Could it be related to the case?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The clues kept me guessing throughout the book. I didn‘t like the MC very much, she was kind of annoying. I did like her chemistry w/ Michael & Dean. It had the right amount of romance w/o overpowering the mystery.
1. Watch the eclipse from my backyard. I have some volunteer hours at the library, including a Metroparks Takeover. I'll also be getting sushi with my fiance for our 1 year engagement anniversary.
2. Ice tea or hot tea, depending in my mood.
3. Most times in my head, unless I have a beautiful bookmark from my #LitsyLove peeps.
4. See above. This book is fun, dark, and creepy so far.

Reading this a little out of my TBR order. It has to go back to the library soon and looks too good to pass up.

This one was a dark, twisty YA thriller. Great if you are a Criminal Minds fan like me. Cassie is 17 & gifted with the natural ability of reading people & she is offered the opportunity to move to Quantico, VA to work with 4 other teens in a secret FBI program set up to solve cold cases. Cassie hopes to learn more about her mother‘s murder & when it seems that case is linked to an active serial killer case her FBI ⬇️
Thanks @Eggs for the #WondrousWednesday tag!
1️⃣ Current read (tagged) is set in a “group home” set up by the FBI in Quantico, Virginia where the MC is in a program where gifted teens help solve cold cases.😱
2️⃣ I‘d love to visit any of the settings (fictional or the real areas) in Jenny Colgan‘s books. Places in the Cornish Isles, UK, Scotland, Highland Islands, etc where there are small towns & puffins! Her books always make me feel cozy!🤗
This was a total page turner, y'all! I was totally pulled into the story...and despite this being a book for YA readers, it will entertain adults as well. I can't wait to start the next one in the series...
This book is so freaking good!!! YA Mystery, Thriller, Romance with a Criminal Minds vibe. Absolute perfection!!! Jennifer Lynn Barnes is amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Teenage angst aside, this was a real page turner! I enjoyed the concept of teens having natural abilities (like spotting patterns) to.aid the FBI in solving cold cases.
I- hhhh, yes. Just yes. Where the other books at-? **searches frantically for kindle** KiiiiiNdLe
I love this book!!! I can't wait to continue the series. It reminds me of Criminal Minds!!! I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
An interesting read — I was not expecting a YA book to be quite so dark. The plot was a bit slow for my taste, but I do love a good novel where I can see the pieces falling into place and solve the mystery along with the main character. I see a lot of myself in Cassie — delightful, but perhaps scary for a reader of this book.
If you‘re looking for a fast read with edgy ending, this is it. I will definitely be finishing the series!
4½⭐(reread/listen)
Sometimes forgetting key points of a book is a good thing because when you reread it…you don‘t remember what happens. The ending totally took me by surprise…again. The premise of these books does take some suspension of disbelief…because, really, would the FBI use teenagers to help solve an actual serial killer case? Probably not, but JLB makes you feel like maybe they could…and that to me, is what really matters.
Lots of criminology and technicality which I loved, the whole book reminded me of a Criminal Minds episode. I had no clue what was going to happen and I really liked how all the characters worked together, especially the MC Cassie. Love triangle was a bit annoying and I'm very undecided but I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. The ending was intense and unexpected, I like that there is still mystery for the next book.

The FBI decides to recruit teenagers with natural ability to read people. One of the recruits is no stranger to investigations because her mother was murdered years before. This was an enjoyable thriller. I will continue reading the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
I LOVED this book! And I stayed up WAY too late reading it! Some people have a natural gift for reading people . . . what happens when the FBI recruits them while they're still teenagers? In full disclosure I did guess who the villain was, but I didn't care. I loved the characters, the storyline, everything. Every once in a while a book comes along where I have to pick the sequel up immediately - and this was one of those books!
So 5 books read, none my books pins and no bingos. But 5 books is a win! The tagged book was super good. Especially if you are a fan of CSI or Criminal Minds. Very cool premise:) Maybe I‘ll actually get a bingo in April. It could happen:)
I still think it‘s really slow pace and the story is all over the place and some parts are pretty unpleasant
I thought it was a so-so because I‘m into the story and the setting but it‘s a really slow pace for me, I‘ll give it another week to keep reading.
I'm not impressed. The Naturals is superficial and juvenile (not for children, though—immature).
There is no real heat or tension where there should be. The premise is completely unbelievable (if we are to believe that teenagers would be recruited to the FBI, we would expect them to be more mature than depicted here).
There is a fairly good attempt at a twist (the serial killer's identity), but I had stopped caring by the time we got there.
Cassie was just a waitress with a hidden talent for analyzing people. She could tell so much about people just by their dress, mannerisms, and expression. She was discovered by a branch of the FBI called the naturals. Individuals with natural talents that can help in investigation. The serial killer they are following has a connection to Cassie‘s past, but I did not realize how much until the end.
I made it through 100 pages and still wasn‘t into it as much as I expected. Great premise and maybe I‘ll come back to it some other time, just not right now.
That was just as fun & intriguing as the first time! Barnes‘s writing is perfect for a thriller — fast-paced, witty, inventive. The houseful of Naturals draw you in immediately; their banter is a great, humorous balance against the dark, gritty notes of the main plot. Only slightly eye-roll-y thing were the romances — MUST we have triangles, even in a thriller? — but hopefully that will be resolved sooner than later. Can‘t wait! ★★★★☆.
#currentlyrereading | I am sooooo close to finishing my #Goodreads goal, guys. Sooooo clooooooose! What‘s your reading goal?
My #AdventRecommends day 10 book is here.
This is again more or less a series recommendation, but it is so good!
It's a story about gifted teenagers trained by FBI to solve crimes. I fell in love with the series on my first read, so I binge read it entirely in a couple of days.
There is some, in my opinion, unnecessary romance, but it did not affect my experience of this series.
They are just so good.
(And be prepared for a lot of plot twists)
My plan is to finish this today-I‘m really liking it! I‘m already planning to get the rest of the series from the library. #currentlyreading
My goal today is to finish up The Destroyers, which I‘m unfortunately not really enjoying that much anymore, but I‘m 60% in, so I‘m committed to seeing it through. Then I‘m diving back into The Naturals! Love lazy weekends for curling up with my pup and reading. #currentlyreading
I just started reading this this morning and I‘m really enjoying it so far-it has a great premise that has me hooked. #currentlyreading
Cassie Hobbes is recruited into a top secret special FBI unit called the ‘Naturals‘, made up of older teenagers who have innate special abilities.
It falls into the trap of overused YA tropes at times. but it is an entertaining read and I will definitely read the sequels. Rating: 4 🌟
The Naturals is a fun read. It‘s nice to read a YA novel that isn‘t a fantasy trilogy with an unlikely heroine, a romance, or an “issue” narrative. Barnes does a solid job of bringing crime to her audience. It is by no means highly original or accomplished, but I was entertained at this level.
The first book in a new-to-you YA or middle grade series #readharder2018
Got sucked in and couldn‘t put it down! Love this book!!!
I worked at the mall, and had a lot of down time. This book caught my attention by the psychology that it has and the mystery. Ended up finishing the books in 3 shifts and quickly went back to the library to get the second book. Mainly for teens/young adults but definitely keeps your attention.
Welcome to one of my favorite book series in the entire universe! I don't usually gravitate to thrillers, but a group of teenagers with a talent for catching serial killers? Got me! The author weaves their story with such detail, albeit eerie and dark, and clever mystery solving. I've got buggy eyes just thinking about it. 😳📖
As a Criminal Minds fan, I'm so satisfied right now! I'm not surprised that this had me hooked because The Fixer books did as well. It's easy to get caught up in Jennifer Lynn Barnes' writing. There's a love triangle that some readers may not like, but I'm not usually bothered by that unless it detracts from the main point of the book.
💜💜💜💜
My new #currentlyreading!
I LOVED this series!!! I bought all four books just so I could read them over and over again. I read the first book in a matter of three days, haha! I checked it out on Friday and turned it back in on Monday :D I'd seriously give these books ten thumbs ups if I could, haha!!
I finally got to open my Secret Santa gift after being so good and waiting all this time! I have the best Secret Santa. She got me the book The Naturals and Lumberjanes both of which I don't have and wanted to read. Dexter approves! Thanks so much @DGRachel !!! So happy I got to participate in @MyBookSwapClub Secret Santa this year!
Reading The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes by the light of my tree! #cantputitdown #thenaturals #cozysunday
