This is one of my favorites of the year so far! I highly recommend this for anyone creating their own art (be it comics, a novel, music, etc.) or are into fandom. Be prepared for some raw, emotional moments as mental health has a large focus.

The characters, emotions, fandom, romance, friendships: a lot came off as very realistic to me!

Mehso-so

This had a strong start, but then I started noticing more and more weaknesses. It was very predictable. The romance was insta-lovey. I felt like I was being told emotions instead of feeling them. The pace felt rushed. I DID, however, like the world and the conflict. I wasn't left feeling bored despite the predictable twists.

🌞🌞🌞 (or 🌞🌞🌅 -- I'm having trouble deciding.)

I'm excited that I enjoyed reading this! It's never been one that I've been *that* interested in reading, so I kinda feel surprised that it went so well with me.

I might start the Lord of the Rings trilogy before too long. :)

This was GREAT. The only thing that prevents it from being a five star read for me was that I had to push myself to continue it. Instead of being pulled into the story, I had to push myself into it. Other than that, though, I loved it. The world was fascinating! There was a large spotlight on morality (and mortality), which made it a very thought-provoking read.

Also, that ending. It was fantastic!

Kinda bland, but I still liked it! I'm curious to see how the current storyline will be stretched for two more books...it feels like series could've easily been two books, but hey, I don't know what twists are coming!

The thing about this series is that it's so effortless to get into. I get sucked in the moment I start reading and the world around me fades away. I read this book quickly because of that! I wasn't as emotionally attached to the characters as I was in previous books, but I loved all the interactions between Hunter and the Merrick brothers!

I feel emotionally drained after reading this book. The last section really got my tears flowing, but I'm the type that loves it when a book does that to me. This will make you reflect on the value of memories. I was recommended this a LOT before I finally read it, and I have to pass on the recommendation! It's well worth reading!

I *really* enjoyed this! I wasn't expecting much...it's a book I picked up solely because it was by Meagan Spooner and was new on Overdrive at the time.

While I didn't feel strong connections between the characters, I really liked how this retelling of Beauty and the Beast was blended with some Russian folklore. It made the story fresh and exciting. The ending chapters were kinda odd, but also wonderful and heartwarming!

Very good. Very twisty and exciting. I didn't expect the majority of the turns that were made, though I was surprised that it was such a quick read despite how long it is. (It's been awhile since I last read book one.)

I'm happy that I have the last book in the series because that ending left me with a lot of questions!

Apparently I didn't know much about The Wizard of Oz outside of the movie until now! I was more shocked by the differences than I should've been, but that added to the experience of reading the book. I really liked getting to know the original version of a story I've loved since I was a kid!

I gave this three stars on Goodreads, but I can't bring myself to give it the So-So rating here. I wasn't as into this volume as I was all the previous ones because it felt like its sole purpose was to build up to events in the final volume of this particular series. (Tokyo Ghoul:re is the sequel series.) So, nothing new and exciting seemed to happen. I'm excited for volume 14, though!!

As a Criminal Minds fan, I'm so satisfied right now! I'm not surprised that this had me hooked because The Fixer books did as well. It's easy to get caught up in Jennifer Lynn Barnes' writing. There's a love triangle that some readers may not like, but I'm not usually bothered by that unless it detracts from the main point of the book.

I ended up liking this for the most part, but it was very, very cheesy. One tiny detail that I really disliked was a few cameos by real celebrities. Whenever that happens in a story, I instantly feel disconnected from it. I probably would've found the book a little less cheesy if those cameos weren't added.

MarriedtoMrT Bummer it was just a so-so for you. A pick for me but 3 stars. I thought it was super cute and easy but not re-inventing anything that hadn't been already done. I don't remember the cameos but I know what you mean. I just read one that had an appearance of Padraig Harrington (golfer) in a teen book and it took me out of the story. 7y
KaitlinS16 @MarriedtoMrT I gave it 3 stars as well! Not reinventing anything was another downside for me. It was good fit for my reading mood, though. Yeah, cameos are...out of place most of the time. 7y

Tonight's reading! I'm still trying to get over the massive slump I'm in...baby steps, I guess. The comics are way different from the show, which I was expecting, but one of the details I'm the most surprised by is the use of the word "zombie." I don't think that word has ever been used in the show! It's very odd to see the characters say it. :D

This is a collection of short stories focusing on Muslim women and men in different circumstances. I've read a story about a tightrope walker wanting the moon after a failed attempt when she was younger, a woman who makes some discoveries about her sexuality, and a woman dealing with her pregnancy and not-so-great relationship with her boyfriend. I'm liking the variety so far!
