Practice makes perfect.Everyone at Hundred Oaks High knows that career mentoring day is a joke. So when Maya said she wanted to be a rock star, she never imagined she'd get to shadow the Jesse Scott, Nashville's teen idol. But spending the day with Jesse is far from a dream come true. He's as gorgeous as his music, but seeing all that he's accomplished is just a reminder of everything Maya's lost: her trust, her boyfriend, their band, and any chance to play the music she craves. Not to mention that Jesse's pushy and opinionated. He made it on his own, and he thinks Maya's playing back up to other people's dreams. Does she have what it takes to follow her heart-and go solo?Praise for Miranda Kenneally's Breathe, Annie, Breathe:"[An] expertly paced and realistic romance."-Booklist, starred review"Heartfelt, uplifting, and quite possibly enough motivation to make readers reach for their running shoes." -Publisher's Weekly"Breathe, Annie, Breathe is an emotional, heartfelt, and beautiful story about finding yourself after loss and learning to love. Her best book yet." -Jennifer L. Armentrout, New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You

This was a good easy cute read. Nothing unpredictable or life changing though.

Has anyone read this? I got it bookcon last year and just realized it's part of a series, do I need to read the others or can it be read as a standalone?

eekabook The only thing that ties the books together is that they're all set in the same town. It's one of those ones where previous characters make cameos and such. I think reading them in order gives the little moments like those more sense, but it's not necessary to reading the series. I hope you like it, I think this series is super cute! 🙂 7y
Cityofamber @eekabook oh good because I already started it. 😂 it's not my typical read, I hardly ever read cute romance contemporaries but for some reason I've been in that mood so I figured why not since I have this book. 😂 7y

Mehso-so

I ended up liking this for the most part, but it was very, very cheesy. One tiny detail that I really disliked was a few cameos by real celebrities. Whenever that happens in a story, I instantly feel disconnected from it. I probably would've found the book a little less cheesy if those cameos weren't added.

MarriedtoMrT Bummer it was just a so-so for you. A pick for me but 3 stars. I thought it was super cute and easy but not re-inventing anything that hadn't been already done. I don't remember the cameos but I know what you mean. I just read one that had an appearance of Padraig Harrington (golfer) in a teen book and it took me out of the story. 7y
KaitlinS16 @MarriedtoMrT I gave it 3 stars as well! Not reinventing anything was another downside for me. It was good fit for my reading mood, though. Yeah, cameos are...out of place most of the time. 7y

MarriedtoMrT I really liked this one! I was just thinking about it the other day. I'm a sucker for music-themed books for some reason. 7y
KaitlinS16 @MarriedtoMrT I am too! It's an easy theme for me to like. :) 7y

I love this book. Played into my nashville / pop star obsession at the time of reading it.

Perfect example of YA chick lit. A very quick read.
