This Song Will Save Your Life
This Song Will Save Your Life | Leila Sales
All her life, Elise Dembowski has been an outsider. Starting a new school, she dreams of fitting in at last - but when her best attempts at popularity fail, she almost gives up. In a cry for help, she self-harms, and when news of that gets around school, things get even worse for Elise. But then she stumbles upon a secret warehouse party. There, at night, Elise can be a different person, making real friends, falling in love for the first time, and finding her true passion - DJing. But when her real and secret lives collide, she has to make a decision once and for all: just who is the real Elise? An irresistible novel about hope, heartbreak and the power of music to bring people together.

I have no words for this book. ITS FANTASTIC! So deep and relatable, especially if you love music. If there is something that automatically makes me buy a book, it's a 'Soundtrack list' at the back.
I need some recommendations for books with soundtrack lists.

I really liked this book. The story was enjoyable to me but more than the story itself, I just loved the writing. Right from the first page I was all in for it. I'd like to read more by this author for sure.

I was in an audiobook slump until Sadie, but now I‘m back and ready to listen to all the books. 💪🏼

Jumping into this one and it‘s read by my favorite narrator, Rebecca Lowman. 😍

Andrea313 @vkois88 I really like Anna! It's pure, fluffy teenage romance (in Paris!) and I can't get enough. I also recommend the companion books: 6y
vkois88 Thanks! I'll have to check them out! 6y

Between a pick and a so-so. I guess I had higher expectations. Quick read.

LOVED this tale of a lonely teen who finds herself through music when/where she least expects it.

A disappointment overall. There was a lot of potential but... For one thing, a teenager discovering she likes to DJ is cool, but becoming TEH BEST DJ EVAARRRR in like a month is absurd. Also, while the concept of Elise being an outcast for no real reason is very real - that definitely happens because kids are cruel - she was, sorry, a major bitch a lot of the time. I wish this had been done better because it had promise! 2/5 ⭐️

So I started my first #bookclub with this book and thank God we all loved it. And I loved this book because all the characters felt real. They all this freshness and originality in them that you don't see in the typical ya novel.

Elise falls with love with DJing, which I'd say qualifies her as a #JukeboxHero. #Characters2017

I will start by saying that I didn't like the main character at the start of the book. I felt that she was judgemental and annoying. Having said that, I have never read a book to the end with a main character I didn't like. The writing definitely made up for it, I was engrossed from page one, and was plesently surprised by the character development. The character grew, and by the end I was even fond of her. :) definitely a good read.

Started reading this book yesterday. My boyfriend got it for me as a present when we moved in together and I honestly didn't think I would become so engrossed in it. Super excited about it though!

LauraBrook Wow, this really hits home today. Have been internally struggling with a friendship - I don't think I'm being myself with her, and once I start making a change, how will she react? 8y
storiesandstethoscopes I've experienced that before and found that when I'm myself I'm much much happier - if she doesn't love who you really are, you don't need her❤️ best of luck! @LauraBrook 8y

I just want to thank all the Litsy people I've had the pleasure to 'meet'. I've noticed on some social media platforms that the book community can be really cliquish and not accepting of new people but on here everyone is welcomed and everyone is so nice. So thanks for just being friendly and loving books.

I really enjoyed this story of a girl who feels unloved and worthless, picked on and treated like an outsider. I appreciated that this was more about her personal journey than getting other people to change or notice you or be your friend.

Well this was just about the most wonderful one-sitting, long night bus read. The high school angst of Elise was totally relatable and the music throughout the book was awesome! 😁😁

MrBook I love reading on the bus! The gentle rhythmic swaying helps. 8y

Being a teenager is tough. There's this feeling of wanting to belong and maybe never finding your place. You seek comfort in yourself, in your worth, but sometimes you doubt that worth. This book is about that, with a side of kickass music. I really enjoyed it.

"It turns out that caring a lot about anything is, by definition, 'uncool', and it doesn't matter if that thing is music or Star Wars or oil refineries." I am very uncool and I'm 100% okay with that.

That-Bookish-Hiker I loved this book! I was really hesitant to read it because I wasn't too excited about the dj'ing aspect but I really ended up loving Elise. 8y
