This was SO good! It explains why and how Padme as queen use decoys for safety. It also explains why the voice change is used as well. (Those who watched the movies might understand that part a little better.) I enjoyed the story a lot. This is part of a trilogy, however not in the way expected. Especially since we already know much of what happens. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

I'm only a few chapters in and really enjoying this one.

In order to read January #StarWarsBuddyRead book, I needed to read the first books in this trilogy. I‘m having a good experience going through this world and remembering the characters. This one was a little slow pace. When Padmé will take another political position, she will encounter betrays but also loyalty by her friends. Beautiful friendship. That ending😱What??? Need to continue the adventure. 3.5/3.8⭐️ @BookwormAHN

Finally caught up with #StarWarsBuddyRead May pick (a month late - it didn't come in until June) and am now working on June's picks. This one was fine, I'd say 3.5 stars. The writing from Johnston is good but it wasn't necessarily the most riveting/exciting SW book. I'd read a book about Sabé post-epilogue in a heartbeat, though!

I quite enjoyed this peak into Padmé life, after the war on Naboo and before her ill fated love affair began. She was a strong Queen, Senator, and fighter for freedom, I can see where her daughter inherited many of her strengths and passions....and I was happy to see more strong woman in a galaxy far far away fleshed out and given center stage. Now I want a follow up on exactly what happened after that epilogue.

I was super excited to snag a special edition of the Star Wars Padme novel, Queen‘s Shadow, at Star Wars Celebration this year! Overall I didn‘t love the book *quite* as much as I was hoping to, but I loved all the characters, particularly handmaiden Sabe.
