SO much better than the film, maybe the biggest gap between how much I‘ve liked a book and a film that I can remember. This was tender, beautiful and heart wrenching without being over the top misery porn. The movie was meandering but this felt far more focused, like it really knew what it wanted to say. If you want to feel a lot of feelings about a life changing lesbian relation in a french graphic novel, read this.
I‘m rewatching Bob‘s Burgers and I was delighted to notice this reference as the burger of the day! I haven‘t finished this graphic novel yet because I was having a lot of stress while reading it and kept needing something less grief-focused. #grief #LGBtQ #GraphicNovel
June 11: This graphic novel examines grief and loss as a woman considers the life she shared with her girlfriend and how her grief parallele's that of the girlfriend's parents. #lgbtqbooks #lgbt #lgbtq #pridemonth2020 #lgbtqcomic #queercomic
#colormepretty @Sweetkokoro #warmcolors I didn‘t realize the movie was based on a graphic novel.
Beautiful monochrome water color art with pops of blue color throughout. The story was poignant and heartbreaking (though I‘m heartless so it didn‘t get to me). A coming of age story, a comment on sexuality and a translated work. Some sentences were a little weird I think due to being translated from French to English but overall it‘s a sweet story. Though the main story telling is told in cursive handwriting which is hard to read at times.
4/5β Clem's struggles/self-discovery felt real. Ached for her highs/lows. Adored her friendship w/ Valentin. The romance was an often breathtaking combo of angst & awe. Didn't like the huge time & tone turn after the climax or the overdone trope. But I enjoyed the well-fleshed characters & details of French social/political issues. The way the color blue was deliberately placed added depth to the graphic novel experience. #projectnew #queerlitread
Not that they deserved what happened, but what on earth would possess someone to walk around their closeted teenage girlfriend's house STARK NAKED?!?!?! #projectnew #queerlitread
Well then. 4 pages in and I can already tell this book is going to shred my emotions, isn't it? #queerlitread
This book was so incredibly powerful. The artwork and writing and story and characters were beautiful and heartbreaking. I really loved this graphic novel. This is a must read.
This is such a powerful story, that made me feel all the feels. And the artwork is beautiful.
However, I've never read a translated comic before. I was really shocked at how it was presented. The English text was all over the place or there were big slabs of white over the artwork. It felt so disrespectful of the original work. Is this usual?
Ho riletto "Il Blu Γ Un Colore Caldo" per #ReteControLaPaura
Semplicemente stupendo!
Graphic novels are among my favorite genres. I really loved the depth of this story. Can you recommended a graphic novel for me?
Translated from the French. I‘m late to this one. It feels like I‘ve already read it. It‘s a passionate and heartbreaking love story. #Pridemonth π

This book has been on my radar for a while, since @kmcritchburn read it and raved about it a while back. It didn‘t disappoint. It‘s a beautiful graphic novel about love and friendship, family and growing, coming out and growing into yourself. It‘s use of colour is wonderfully emotional. I‘ll definitely be watching the movie now.
Read if you like: Honor Girl (Thrash)
Every single one of the feels. That little one tucked way away, saved for only the most special of occasions? Yeah, that one too. Wow.
I'll just be over here in a puddle, sobbing, broken-hearted.

I wanted to read this in the original French, but it was too expensive so I finally broke down and read it in English. Sad, touching, and reminded me that while things have improved, this is still how a lot of queer kids grow up: confused and afraid to be who they are. #queerbooks
#libraryhaul what's good?! Gonna start with blue is the warmest color bc it's the shortest. Then I'll hit up The Book of Joan bc there will probably be a hold on it? There were 2copies of You Will Know Me so not too worried about that one having holds
I wasn't sure I'd like this graphic novel when I started reading the initial pages but halfway through the book it became really interesting. It made me sad. It made me smile. A beautiful story! π Definitely a pick!
I'm not a big fan of comics but I really want to read this! I've watched the film so many times #comicsbywomen #anditsaugust

I haven't finished reading this yet but I am really liking it. #LGBTreads #loveislove
Beautiful art, and I'm sure the movie is beautiful too, but I'm so over tragic stories where queer characters always die at the end. Queer people have very real problems with coming out, and we have very real problems with the whole getting killed at exponentially higher rates than cishet ppl, but I'm over only having reading materials about The Struggle. We don't exist just to die. Give me more.(also applies to other marginalized groups of ppl)
Such a beautiful and heartbreaking story.
