I love all these little graphics that are included in Fforde's books. He really makes the series come to life.

Jasper Fforde's books just scratch a certain itch in my brain. 🧠
My two favorite things: sweatshirt and Thursday Next. This sweatshirt from Teepublic makes me so happy
Slow going. Sometimes difficult to stay engaged.
My books are only vaguely organized (travel, science fiction, all time favorite keepers, non-fiction), pretty books for the best shelves, etc.
Everywhere: on shelves, in piles, on nightstands and end tables.
Hardcover books if possible, trade paperbacks where available, ebooks when I can't wait.

I love this series because you always get good puns and literary references. I don't think these would be even half as funny as audiobooks because of all the textual puns and in this one a bit of graphics. I think the thing I most admire about this series though is that so much interconnects with earlier books like there are some bits that have been tiny crumbs in the first books and then land all the way here in book 5

Managed to finish two and half books this week. I enjoyed everything I read even if it means I'm getting close to the end of Alex Verus and a verrrry slow burn romance in TBOAPW.
#WeeklyForecast
I should finish the tagged today once I sit down to read. After that I'll move on to Eon and whatever is picked from the bookspin draw. I'm so excited for the draw this month.
I decided that the next series I‘d tackle would be Thursday Next. I finished the first arc a couple years ago thankfully this one starts fourteen years after the events of that arc so the gap between reading isn‘t a big deal and sort of appropriate.
#LitsyHumor Post 1 😆🙋♂️
Loved this one more than the last couple installments! These continue to be a fun, light audiobook experience and I‘m sad that I‘ll run out of them soon.
Good morning lovely Littens! Who else woke up to snow this morning?
Today's #IsolationInteractions discussion question: is there a book sequel that you wish existed?
I recently heard Marlon James talking about wanting a sequel to Jane Eyre, one where Rochester drives Jane to madness (inspired by Wide Sargasso Sea), and I would totally be on board to read that!
1. Sometimes. I don't write them down, but I should. A while back I had a dream where I was riding through the desert on horseback with the B-52s.
2. I want Rocket Raccoon. We would be so unbelievably obnoxious together. It would be sarcastic banter overload!
3. Samwise Gamgee. We would always have breakfast, 2nd breakfast, and elevensies.
4. Valinor the realm of the Valar
5. Will do! My son is already preparing a story.
“My mother‘s main aim in life was to get from the cradle to the grave with the minimum of fuss and bother and the maximum of tea and Battenberg.”
🦋 Runs outside.
🦋 My thighs & my butt. They are large & powerful.
🦋 I‘m pretty damn resilient.
🦋 I think all you Littens are pretty awesome 😉

😂 This might be my favorite romp into the world of Thursday Next. I continue to marvel (and chuckle) at the wit of Jasper Fforde.
1/ train

3/ We might go to St. Augustine, but I‘m not sure yet.

1. Car. I also need to be the driver because I suck at being a passenger!
2. I don't have a spot because I haven't been on a trip in years.
3. Since I haven't been anywhere in years I am determined to go somewhere this year! By myself in a car and destination beach. I need me-time.

1. No although I've been interested. I'm not sure I could keep up due to recent obligations draining my energy.
2. I always liked my name. Laura is pretty and classic. I WON'T answer to "Laurie" ?
3. Currently it's Land Of Confusion by Genesis. #RockOn80s

1. Classic would be Tolkien and Robert Louis Stevenson. For modern I'd say Conn Igulden, Jasper Fjorde, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Maggie Stiefvater.
2. A night in with @cobwebmoth and a good book.
3. Ancient history! Anything set in, or about ancient Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, or the Americas.
4. @TricksyTails

What an amazing series! I still love it as much this second time through. Have you ever considered a Stupidity Deficit, or the method for reversing it? What if the second law of thermodynamics could be altered, and what if all of the future weighed upon that alteration? Thursday Next tackles these issues and so much more. What's amazing is how much fun it is to experience all of this right along with her.
I‘m not quite as enthusiastic about this book as the first three in the series, but it‘s still entertaining. You have to suspend belief reading any of these, because there‘s a combination of alternate history and alternate reality. I came close to bailing, but put it down, came back to it, and enjoyed it again, so maybe I wasn‘t in the mood when I started. The picture is because we went through Swindon on the train—but not this train😄
I had started this in August, before we went to England. I‘m not sure why I didn‘t take it along. Then, after we got home, other books kept jumping ahead of a return to this one. When I picked it back up yesterday, I thought I might need to start over, but I was able to get right back into the story. Maybe I needed the time away, because I‘m enjoying it more now.
#AnditsAugust This is what #seniorcitizens who are readers do: spend weekday mornings going on coffee and book dates. At least that's what hubby and I do, and we fit the prompt. (I was going to post a selfie, but...😄)
Usually I take my current nonfiction read to Tuesday coffee and books with hubby, but I really wanted to keep reading this. It's a bit different than the earlier books in the series, and I find myself reading a chapter and then mulling it over before I go on. So it works perfectly with coffee.
Something Rotten went back to our son and DIL's library, and this is my next "withdrawal." Trixie had to give her approval.
I think Cheshire would like my attention elsewhere... #catsoflitsy
The Thursday Next series (which I highly recommend!) is a humorous, time-traveling, adventure- mystery-fantasy detailing the exploits of Thursday Next as she works as a Literary Detective, interacting with the inhabitants of her own world as well as those of the literary worlds she protects. Lovers of both witty mysteries and classic novels (specifically fans of Dickens, Bronte, and Shakespeare especially) should definitely check this series out!
I *love* the Thursday Next series but I don't like the original US covers and this might be my least favorite -- but, I also have a soft spot for it because I got this one signed by Fforde! In 8th grade, my awesome teacher who introduced me to this series took me to Boston hear him speak about these books. So the not-so-great cover is balanced by the memories.
Shown here with the other versions of the series covers that I do really like!
A #springflingreading bonus for you - an author who starts with TWO Fs. 🙂 I love this series! 🌸📚🌼
I love Jasper Fforde, and this series is another of my absolute favorites. Not only is Thursday Next my pick for #booktober "Best Character Name," she is also a Literary Detective! (If you wish to begin the series, the first book is The Eyre Affair, I picked this one for the challenge because it so prominently features her name).
What's wrong with a good book? Absolutely nothing! Unfortunately the world at large doesn't seem to catch on and stray from the television set.
