1. I started babysitting when I was around 13 or 14.
2. For several months I worked overtime evenings and weekends in another department doing something completely different from my weekday job.
3. It‘s easy to let work take over your life, so you have to be mindful of keeping boundaries.

1. First job was babysitting. First job with a paycheck was as a waitress.
2. Several, from Mrs. Yeoman in 2nd grade to Spanish professor Dr. Greenia and many in between.
3. Two years ago on my birthday it was Caturday at the ballpark, the home team won, and I think we went out to dinner after the game.

I know it's kind of sacrilege but I really did like it more than the books! And I was a huge fan of the original books! Any other #BSC fans want to weigh in? #BabysittersClub
https://bookriot.com/babysitters-club-netflix-series/

Andrea313 I can't say I liked the Netflix series better, because the books have so much of my own nostalgia wrapped up with them, and they are their own (wonderful) animal. But I think the reboot was nearly pitch-perfect all around and have watched it more times than I care to admit! The updates were handled so naturally and there were plenty of Easter eggs for us 80s and 90s kids. I give it an A+! 4y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @Andrea313 Yes I loved the easter eggs too! My grade would also be A+ 😍 4y

Binged this yesterday and today, and it was so much fun! Also shocked by how many times it made me cry--I'm such a sap! The perfect mix of nostalgia with a modern twist. I need to reread the books now as I don't remember much from when I read them as a kid.
Has anyone else read them or watched the Netflix remake? Which character are you most like? I think I'm a MaryAnn.

MrBook I remember my babysitters had them back in the day. 🙂 4y
Kaylamburson It was the thing to read for all babysitter's!! The dream to have a group of friends as amazing as that. @MrBook 4y
MrBook Aye! 🍻 4y
See All 14 Comments
melissajayne It was the only series I would read. I wanted to have a group of friends like that and mostly I wanted a phone in my room like Claudia. I‘m more of a Mary Anne as well. I‘ve watched the first four. (edited) 4y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I loved these books as a kid and have recently been enjoying the graphic novel adaptations. The show is on my to watch list! 4y
Bookish_B Watched this last weekend. BSC is one of the reasons I became a reader. The show is super cute! 4y
fleeting I loved the show so much too! I thought it would be geared towards kids but friends and I enjoyed this (we're in our 30s 😄) 4y
SamanthaMarie I was obsessed with the books when I was younger!! I am saving the show for when my husband deploys as a pick me up (or apparently for a good cry haha!) I am a total sap, I can't wait! I am a Mary Ann with a smidge of Dawn. Definitely not a Kristy, Stacy, or Claudia, even though I admired them! I also really liked Mallory and Jessi. Okay, I will stop droning on 🤣 4y
DGRachel I never read the books, but I loved the Netflix series and now I kind of want to read the books! 4y
Kaylamburson @melissajayne, yes! I still want a group of friends like that. And I love that they brought back the phone (thanks to Etsy 🤣). 4y
Kaylamburson @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I want to reread the series and try out the graphic novel adaptations. There's also a short 15 min documentary on Netflix about how amazing of a character Claudia Kishi is, and the illustrator for the graphic novels is in it! Highly recommend! 4y
Kaylamburson It was so cute! @Bookish_B @fleeting. I also assumed it would be too young for me (almost 30, ha), but I just loved it. I wonder if it's mostly people nostalgic for the original watching it or if a lot of tweens are checking it out. 4y
Kaylamburson @SamanthaMarie , this will be the perfect pick-me-up for that moment. So much nostalgia, and it was all happy tears. Nothing sad! I do not relate to Kristy, haha, but they are all amazing characters. Dawn and Claudia are just too cool for me, lol. It seems Mallory and Jessi will make an appearance if there's a season 2! They are briefly in the last episode! 4y
Kaylamburson I really want to read the books, too! All the characters are so cool. And there's a cool documentary on Netlfix (15 min) focused on the admiration people have for the character of Claudia Kishi! @DGRachel 4y

We‘re doing a thing!

The series that sparked a lifelong love of reading.💜

Blaire Fun!! I adored these books! There‘s a hilarious podcast where they read each of these and discuss (babysitters club club), but it is not child appropriate. 4y
alisiakae @Blaire I‘ve heard of that podcast! 4y
LiteraryinPA I LOVED this series when I was in elementary and middle school. The girls felt like my own friends! 4y

alisiakae @LiteraryinLititz me too! I had some rough years with bullying in middle school. I definitely used BSC as a coping mechanism. And also Stephen King. 🤣 (edited) 4y
Caroline2 I LOVED this series!!! 💖 4y
LaraS Gah! I love the old school covers! 😍And @Blaire I‘ve never heard of that podcast but it sounds like great fun. Pretty sure I‘m gonna spend my whole weekend on that now. 🥳 (edited) 4y
Blaire @LaraS I hope you like it!! Def start back at episode 1 because there are a lot of long-running jokes that make no sense if you start in the middle. The guys have real love for the books and their interpretations are so funny. 4y
alisiakae @LaraS These are my original books! 😍😍 One and two went missing in one of our many moves, but I have life‘s of the others! 4y

My school wanted to hold me back in kindergarten because my reading ability and told my ma to not expect much from me in the future. She took the summer to work with me and by the time I went back I was a 4th grade reading level, the next summer I‘d moved up to a high school reading level. The Babysitters Club was one of the first series I really remember reading, I‘ve read lots of books since but this was among the first to make an impression.

Just started listening to this podcast on the way home and it‘s pretty hysterical. Anyone else ever give this a listen?

MelissaSue81 I listened to one or two episodes. I thought the guys were kinda annoying. 6y
Purrfectpages @MelissaSue81 maybe they get annoying the more you listen. So far I‘ve found them to be pretty funny. 6y
Zelma I enjoyed this up to a point and stopped listening when they moved past the books I‘d read. I only read the first 30ish books that Martin wrote (none of the ghostwritten ones) so I had fun reliving those through these guys‘ eyes. As far as the podcast, it takes a few episodes before they find their rhythm. 6y
Zelma Once you get to their bee theory, it does become quite amusing. I am all about the bees. 6y
Purrfectpages @Zelma I didn‘t even know some of them were ghost written! I do enjoy their banter though. They cracking themselves up about Claudia wearing a bra and boys just being invented manages to make me chuckle every time. (edited) 6y

AsYouWish I loved them!!! I know I didn't read them all, I think I read more of the Mary-Ann books because she was my favorite. Now that they are turning some of them into graphic novels, I have started to reread them in that format. 6y
WhatThePuck I read some of them, but I stuck mostly to Goosebumps and Fear Street. 6y
