Annihilation was by far my favorite of the trilogy
Starting this next 🎧
Finally finally finished this trilogy. Definitely struggled to hold me at many points but I powered through all three. Gd I want to like sci fi more than I do. The final book was cool jumping between characters' perspectives. No satisfying explanation of course but not that mad at it.

📖 Area X (Southern Reach Trilogy) - I've not finished this yet, but it started well
✒ I've got the autobiography of Malcolm X on my TBR

If you love weird psychological science fiction then you will love this trilogy. I loved it! All the little connections that happen in this book. And the twists that happen.
I mean..... that ending???? 🤔🤪🤨😶

If J. J. Abrams, Margaret Atwood, and Alan Weisman collaborated on a series, it might be this awesome.
This collection includes all three novels in the epic Southern Reach trilogy: Annihilation, Authority, and Acceptance....
Porkchop and I are enjoying some much needed outside reading time 💕 #pets #quarantinereading
“But he recognized his bottled up laughter for the onset of hysteria, and his cynicism for what it was: a defense mechanism so he wouldn‘t have to think about any of it.” #weirdfiction #quarantinebook
So excited to finally read this❣️

The lighthouse climax of Annihilation is a total mind f**k but I love it so much. 🖤

The goodies!! I‘m really excited about these books- 2 have been on my TBR for quite some time, I can‘t wait to read the tagged book as it was a surprise and sounds really good, and I had no idea George RR Martin had written a children‘s book! And I love all the goodies- coffee, soaps, bookmarks, the gloves (I know I‘m weird but they will be much loved here!), and OMG the little Longclaw!!
Thanks so much Ashley!

Took me a loooong time to finish this book. A so-so read. Although I enjoyed the book but I'm glad it's over!
✔ Atmospheric writing
✔ Weird and intriguing plot
❌ Monotonous storytelling
❌ Confusing and frustrating ending
Rating: 3.5🌟

Time to put my sleep timer on the Hoopla app and shut my eyes. Goodnight everyone!😴🕚📱▶
Listening to this audio book while slaying in the kitchen. Martha Stewart each your heart out!
I loved how creepy and atmospheric Annihilation was, and I'm really starting to enjoy book two...took me a while to get into it, but now I can't put it down!
Plus, the cover is really pretty 😍
Starting for my RL book club, so far my friends have very mixed feelings on this one. #scifi #glorytotheguild

Mar. 1: Currently Reading
I am reading Area X, because Annihilation is out in theatres here and I want to read it before I see it.
I am also reading Cat's Eye. It was my book club book for February, so I need to catch up!!
Man. The audiobook narrator sounds so much like Katey Sagal. I speed most my books up to 1.25 or more but doing that made it sound exactly like her to the point of distraction. (Loving the book though)!
I keep getting flashbacks to Jurassic Park... but I loved that book.
Loki is really into Jeff VanderMeer's Area X trilogy, apparently. He keeps joining me when I'm trying to read it, but he does have excellent taste in books, so I guess it makes sense. Am now attempting to use him as a book rest...

When you want to buy lotion from Amazon and it would be criminal not to get a few books while you‘re at it
I started the third book this morning. I really dig how different each of them are, in pretty much every way, and how this one is weaving in people from the first two and hopping around in time. I definitely recommend them.
As a side note, we have a big couch. These two could have (and give me and my scrunched legs) so much more room. I guess I should feel loved, but mostly I feel a cramp beginning. #dogsoflitsy
That's cool, Loki. I wasn't, like, reading this book or anything.
I should really be accomplishing something, but I have holiday brain, Christmas present book is good, and convalescing Loki is cute and cuddly.

1️⃣ All of them! I really love the Christmas season.
2️⃣ None. Specifically told people not to get me books since I have too many to get through this year already sitting on my shelf.
3️⃣ A bunch of comics, the Southern Reach trilogy, and Wuthering Heights (again)
4️⃣ Yep, my brother is getting a novel and my sister is getting a cookbook.
Phenomenal trilogy from Jeff Vandermeer! The first book, Annihilation, is coming soon as a movie, the newest, full length trailer has dropped and it looks pretty faithful.
This book was creepy AF and I sure hope the movie does it justice!

Just finished the first book in this trilogy omnibus thingie and I am thoroughly creeped out.
I am going to be ruminating on this one for some time. I'm afraid Area X has infected my dreams and I may need to be quarantined. Time to finally seek out the collected works of H P Lovecraft and confront my existential crises head-on 😉
Well this is already so much better than the pace of Wolf Hall! Whew that was a slog!

Spilled some coffee near a stack of books a while back, resulting in some splash marks on the page edges of this one.

Since Borne just dropped, I think I'll give this behemoth another shot. Interested to see what the film adaptation is like too.
Perhaps a copy could also be superior to the original, create a new reality by avoiding old mistakes.
This is a trilogy unlike any other. Hypnotic writing, surreal scenery, mistrust, memory loss, evolution, violence, head spinning mystery, shady business, intense family relations, compelling story - all this adds up to an incredible series of books. Can't wait to reread these, and for the Annihilation film adaptation next year.
I've been listening to this at work, and it's so weird and eerie. Can't wait to find out what's actually going on in Area X.
Started this gem today. Already hooked! Love that it's a crew of all ladies.
I've been blessed with above average scaredy-cat tendencies so if you're someone who handles creepiness well, ignore me when I say : THIS IS A TERRIFYING TRILOGY. It's well written and imaginative as hell, but also chilling.
