I️ liked this story but I️ wanted to love it. The storyline was engaging. A romance-mystery set in Victorian England? It is the ideal amalgamation of genre and setting for my liking. But the characters were flat and the dialogue too stilted to really pull me in. Such potential but just a bit of a miss for me.

A really good mix of romance and mystery. I was second guessing the villain to the end and the romance was sweet. I love Quick's strong female leads. #romantsy

Just did not enjoy. Which is a shame since I'm a fan of Amanda Quick.

I was able to finish this book up at lunch. It's about a woman who runs an introductions agency (think Eharmony for the Victorian era) and is being left threatening gifts meant for people in mourning. She teams up with a crime novel author to help track down her stalker (and of course fall in love). Pretty entertaining and a gorgeous cover.

Trying to blow through all my library books before they're due - next up, a historical romance with some sinister undertones. 😍

I do enjoy fancy endpapers in a book.

Easy read but the characters and plot felt rushed and not well developed to me. Not quite as good as some of her other books. While a bit disappointing, it was entertaining enough to keep me reading and from skipping pages. The suspense element saved the story - the romance was so-so.

106 pages in before the first smooch. Our H/h are discovering that danger is the perfect aphrodisiac. This book is just what the doctor ordered for me lol.

Okay, I need a serious change of pace after my last few books. Amanda Quick was one of the first romance writers I read regularly back in the day (and I mean waaaaaaaay back). Haven't read any of her books in a while so I am going to give this one a go!

This was my first experience with historical romance. It was truly terrible...but it did give me a few laughs, and there was a twist at the end.

Amanda Quick has done it again with a story of a strong woman finding a mostly respectable way to make a living in the confines of Society. Family, loyalty, and love with a mystery & a killer make a fun and satisfying read. Perfect for vacation!!
