The absolute true account of what Holmes and Watson actually investigated back in 1880. 😁
Enjoyed this historical fiction urban fantasy retelling very much.

Caught a cold. Was destined to happen, had to cue for 1.5 hours in the cold yesterday.
So, after having finished two romances, I've put my ARCs for #WeekendReading on pause and am snuggling down with "the true account" of Holmes and Watson.
@Andrew65
The book was a gift from the wonderful @Sarah83 and I've ignored it for much too long.
Incidentally, this is the third physical book off my shelves this year.

I had a gift card to Barnes & Noble for my birthday and I picked this one up without having heard about it or reading a review of it. Been awhile since I did that, and it didn‘t let me down. It‘s just a simple concept—Sherlock x Lovecraft (and Lovecraft mashups are much in vogue at the moment) but it‘s just a fun, quick read. It doesn‘t try to pretend to be anything but fun. Recommended. Now I need to get the other two books in the trilogy. Sigh.
I enjoyed this one, but not as much as Lovegrove's Sherlock Holmes and the Christmas Demon. I think, as much as I enjoy fantasy in its own right, I prefer more realism and logical deduction with Sherlock.

#TBRPile 📚 A mash-up of Sherlock Holmes and Lovecraft? Um, yes please
This book takes place in December, so I'm counting it as a Christmas story. ☃️??
Overall, the book was alright. It didn't have the "what's going to happen next" factor that would have kept me interested. Could have used more of a mystery element. It wasn't so boring that I didn't want to finish it. I'm a sucker for Lovecraftian horror and Sherlock Holmes. I might still read the sequels at some point.
It had a strong beginning, before the characters had to act a bit stupid to serve the plot. Still, it's a million times better than another Lovecraft/Holmes crossover novel I read. I have come to the conclusion that Sherlock Holmes' contact with the supernatural works best in short stories.
I read this last year as a #buddyread with @Andrew65 and @Sarah83 but never posted about it! I switched Kindles and left a number of books without comment. This book purports to be the “real” story behind Sherlock Holmes‘ adventures. Sherlock is done well, the story is good, but I‘m not sure I agree with the depiction of Watson.
Monsters and Sherlock? What is not to enjoy???
Wow! Opening the large mail bag I got yesterday was a wow-moment. So many wonderful and thoughtful gifts.
A Harry Potter Mug, HP Funko pen, a candle, Earl Grey Tea, a lined journal with The Hounds of Baskerville cover, a bookmark, chocolate, three books (among them the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde edition with lab instruments on the cover).
Thank you very very much Katie @youneverarrived!

#NovemberByTheNumbers for day #fourteen is the fourteenth chapter of my most recent #buddyread that I have yet to review. Oops! Maybe this post will remind me to do that??? 😊
Is this book in the database more than once? I‘m so confused. @Sarah83 and @Andrew65 are done being #Sherlocked and I‘m quickly catching up. My #criminals entry for #NoteworthyNovember is this story because who‘s better at catching criminals than Sherlock? Ok, I know we have a lot of choices but the world‘s first consulting detective is on the list!

This library description 😍
@RealLifeReading
Ok, I‘ve made some ground. Drugs? Really supernatural? Ahhhhhh!!! #Sherlocked
Note: when we‘re done with this one I‘d like to do another book but maybe not a chapter a day!
I had to look up papaverous and it wasn‘t in the dictionary. I found it on Wiktionary. #Sherlocked
I‘m starting to get to the spookier occult bits and there‘s more to discuss! I like that the characterization of Holmes and Watson “fit” canon. What do others think? #Sherlocked
Guess which book is on sale, a month after I bought it? Biscuits! Anyway, buy it and get #Sherlocked.

I have to read fast to catch up! I‘ve been grading exams for extra money so haven‘t been reading as much. I came across these lines and now know that when it comes time to plot my nefarious deeds I should plan them for a new moon. #Sherlocked
Had to finish the book prior to library reclaiming it, therefore accelerated my reading, but the last part of the book very addictive and I wanted to keep reading on. An excellent adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes story, it is very different and a supernatural theme compared to ordinary plain mysteries. Very appropriate for this time of year. I bought into this fully and really enjoyed them. Can't wait for book 2 and 3 when published. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Been reading this interesting version of the early Sherlock Holmes story at a chapter a day with @Sarah83 and @jpmcwisemorgan . However due back at the library in two days so am going to have to accelerate my reading for the last 10 chapters. Some interesting differences driven through this book, with a supernatural plot.
I‘m super behind but I managed to get my book club book done so I‘m back on it! I have to catch up to!
@Andrew65 @jpmcwisemorgan have you already reached chapter ten? Do things become supernatural right now? 🤔
How are you both going with this one? #sherlocked So far I'm up to The Trespasser in the Night, Chapter 9.
Do you agree with the mighty Sherlock here? #sherlocked
Bf went eating outside after playing chess, so I can read while I am eating or eat while I am reading 😍 spätzle with champignons and some fresh tomatoes. 😂
What?!? How can a flat with many books be discribed as messi???? @jpmcwisemorgan @Andrew65
Started this book which is a different take on the Sherlock Holmes story - looking forward to this one, especially having read all the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books over the past 18 months. This could go one of two ways - love or hate! Let's hope it!s the former. I'm reading these along with @Sarah83 and @jpmcwisemorgan . #sherlocked
@jpmcwisemorgan @Andrew65 so I read the first two chapters. How did you like the first meeting? What do you think about the foreword?
Another question, if I downloaded the whole book why is my epub shorter than the Kindle edition? See this for the second time now.
John Watson wrote an alternative yet true accounting of the life of Sherlock Holmes as a way of clearing his conscience - and then shipped them off to H.P. Lovecraft to be locked away. Of course, a distant relative ends up with them and has them published. So far, this book as all the best words! No, really. The. Best. Words. Eldritch. Abstruse. Sibilant. #Sherlocked
Hey Littens! @Sarah83 and I are getting #Sherlocked in an all new way - we‘re reading a chapter a day of The Cthulhu Casebooks. Join us if you like! Who knows what we‘ll be getting up to?!
@jpmcwisemorgan so I am ready. 😁
What's the deal? A chapter a day? 🤗
I have acquired the ebook! @Sarah83 let me know when you want to get #Sherlocked. I await your response.
#TBRtemptation post 3! This cover is pretty good! In London's East End, an outbreak of insanity sees ordinary people reduced to incoherent wrecks. A mysterious fog appears to hide terrifying apparitions. A starting-out Holmes deduces a connection with an Oriental drug lord. Even more sinister forces may be at work. Sherlock's career may be over before it's eve begin! Doyle and Lovecraft, what a combo! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Game day at B and N!
I did a tiny bit of retail therapy this evening because of the sadness of today. Also, one of my managers brought us all leftover flowers from an event she was at!
A fun way to spend the weekend. Just what I needed. #cthulhu #sherlockholmes #suspendthatdisbelief ⭐⭐⭐
