Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier
Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier | Mark Frost
30 posts | 25 read | 15 to read
The crucial sequel to the New York Times bestselling The Secret History of Twin Peaks, this novel bridges the two series, and takes you deeper into the mysteries raised by the new series. The return of Twin Peaks is one of the most anticipated events in the history of television. The subject of endless speculation, shrouded in mystery, fans will come flocking to see Mark Frost and David Lynch's inimitable vision once again grace the screen. Featuring all the characters we know and love from the first series, as well as a list of high-powered actors in new roles, the show will be endlessly debated, discussed, and dissected. While The Secret History of Twin Peaks served to expand the mysteries of the town and place the unexplained phenomena that unfolded there into a vastly layered, wide-ranging history, Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier tells us what happened to key characters in the twenty-five years in between the events of the first series and the second, offering details and insights fans will be clamoring for. The novel also adds context and commentary to the strange and cosmic happenings of the new series. For fans around the world begging for more, Mark Frost's final take laid out in this novel will be required reading.

I'm very happy with this book, it was again; compiled very well and easy to read. I was also glad to find out more about certain characters some of which were key characters and some minor - I was glad to find out more of them all and get some conclusion.

🚹 3 characters I recently enjoyed.

🌞 Portable, redneck and fans. Antique house and a dog in congestive heart failure. Heatwave killed one of my heart failure dogs last year.

📚 🐕 🐱👩 Reading with dogs in my lap and cat on my head.

✈ 🚢 Drowning, plane crash or plane crashing into ocean or stuck in sinking ship. Titanic was still missing when I was wee.

😴 See phobias above. Also, I always win the zombie apocalypse. 🏆

This sequel both to Frost‘s “The Secret History of Twin Peaks” and the series, this novel (told as a sequence of FBI reports from Agent Tammy Preston) provides a degree of narrative closure about the characters and events - particularly the 25 years between seasons 2 and 3. This version of Preston (as narrated by Annie Wersching) is far more interesting than the TV version. A must for those who finished season 3 still wondering “How‘s Annie?”

This is my mom‘s latest #libraryhaul - but I get to enjoy them with her!

The rain is wishful thinking. I would much prefer that to the hot 90 degree temps we are going to have all weekend 😓

I wanted something to scratch my Twin Peaks itch, but this book fell short. It felt too much like a bunch of episode recaps combined with backstory that didn't make the televised scripts. I didn't expect (or even want) answers to the big questions The Return gave us, but this just seemed like an unnecessary addition to the TP world.

Anton Also, Frost spends a whole chapter explaining away a continuity error he made in The Secret History of Twin Peaks. Which was somehow more annoying than the initial error. 7y

When your library hold for a book on one of the greatest TV shows of all time comes in right after you start a reading a book about another one of the greatest TV shows of all time. 😩

Been really wanting to rewatch Twin Peaks The Return, but since I don't have 18 hours for that right now I'm starting this book.

Cleared up a little, opened up new questions, in true Twin Peaks form. I'd love to see a new series that centers on the story of Diane.

Look at all that‘s happened here. One town. The commonplace, familiar, and ordinary—everything we think we know, until you sense the deep, unsettling strangeness informing all of it.

Finished this over coffee. Didn‘t quite live up to the greatness of The Secret History which I absolutely loved and totally consumed me, but an essential volume nonetheless, with some shocking twists to the already twisted story.

This fell between so-so and a pick for me. The Secret History was so good, and I forgot that this was only going to be a dossier so it would be less meaty. It naturally left out some characters because Twin Peaks and nothing will ever fully be answered but it did give closure on some others and opened one big new mystery. Well it confirmed it really. I am still glad I read it and I think my feelings may change as I give it time.

Rachellynnwright I loved The Secret History of Twin Peaks, good to know not to have high expectations for this one! 7y
MinDea I have been wanting to watch Twin Peaks. On a side note..have you watched Dark on netflix? 7y
PirateJenny @MinDea I've only been able to watch the first episode so far. I'm hoping to finish it by the end of the weekend. Go for Twin Peaks when you can and be sure to include the movie Fire Walk With Me before you watch season 3. 7y
MinDea I just watched the first episode. What do you think of it? Ok, thanks for the recommendation! 7y
PirateJenny @MinDea I'm definitely hooked! It's the sort of show I love. 7y

Lidia Does it really explain what happened in the finale of the last season? 😱 7y
ElizaTodd @Lidia You can definitely build a theory with the information it gives you, it explains something about Sarah that I LOVED! 7y

I read the entire thing while on candy duty tonight. It definitely filled some holes in the show. I love that it was written in individual subject files. I‘m just so sad that it‘s over. Like it‘s over, over. There‘s no guarantee that there will be another season or another book for that matter. 😢

mcipher There needs to be another season, because I still have so many questions! And I need several regular Agent Cooper episodes to wash away all that Dougie. 7y
StephBengtson @mcipher I loved Dougie, but there was absolutely not enough Cooper. 7y
mcipher I hated Dougie! Mostly because I just wanted Cooper back. 😉 7y

Just finished binge watching the new season of Twin Peaks and fell down the rabbit hole of reading episode recaps and conspiracy theories, discovering there are books, putting them all in my TBR, and pretending that any if it will ever make sense. I need a book-length episode blow by blow that decides it all for me! 😳
