“She must meet them in the sea.“
This is such a well written book and extremely informative. This is a perfect book to use when teaching children about freedom and the symbols of the United States of America.

This is one of the best books to teach children about the history of the Statue of Liberty. This book is filled of wonderful facts but also focuses on how Lady Liberty appears to be walking resembling the journey people have taken to get to America. Love the story of Lady Liberty and the light she shares as welcoming others into our country.
Outstanding children‘s book full of facts about the Statue of Liberty and bright colorful art. Egges focuses on an important detail about the statue‘s right foot, lifting as if to step forward, and why that is important. Beautiful and moving https://cannonballread.com/2023/07/her-right-foot-elcicco/
“Did you know that the interior of the statue was designed by a Frenchman by the name of Eiffel? The same Eiffel who designed the Eiffel Tower”
This book was a great read to teach children the history of the Statue of Liberty.
Loved the artistic style of this children‘s book explaining the history behind and symbolism of The Statue of Liberty. Would make an excellent t addition to any elementary school library shelf.
This book makes me cry every time I read it. It is fabulous. The Statue of Liberty is in motion. Because our story is still being written. Because she is meeting her children out at sea. 💙❤️💙 note: the upper left pic I added, but the other is from the book.
And check out Brother Sun‘s song: Lady of the Harbor for more on this theme. 😉 https://youtu.be/X3gOoySyNlI
While searching for middle grade books, I ran across this picture book about the Statue of Liberty. I‘ve read a few on this topic. This one is unique, well done, and worth the read. Glad I didn‘t miss out on it.
Her right foot by Dave Eggers was a fabulous read! It is a factual book about the Statue of Liberty. She's in New York. She's holding a torch. And she's in mid-stride, moving forward. But why? In this fascinating, nonfiction, the author investigates a small trait of America's most famous statue. What they find in the Statue of Liberty's right foot is the message of acceptance that is essential to an entire country's creation. Very interesting.
Published in 2017, the children's nonfiction book tells the amazing upbringing of an iconic American landmark- the statue of liberty. This is a really great way to tell the history of the statue to the children, with beautiful illustrations and told in a simple manner. Really great for the younger children in your classroom. A great way to introduce vocabulary like immigration and oppression too.
I don‘t normally share the hundreds of picture books we go through on here, but this was such a good book with a great simple message.
Short but oh so good. I can‘t wait for my kids to open this one up on Christmas. A great message and one that is more important than ever to share.
This is best book! Perfect for children (and adults). I learned a ton about the Statue of Liberty that I‘d never heard. It‘s engaging and fascinating and inspiring. It also reminds us of our nation‘s history as a welcoming place for immigrants from all over the world. Just beautiful. Get it for all the children in your life.
5⭐️ Leave it to Eggers to tell a wonderful story! There was a lot I didn‘t know about Lady Liberty. Perfect timing too, it‘s a good dose of xenophobia immunization.
“She is not content to wait. She must meet them in the sea.”
Sitting at home with a cold and working my way through some library books

A great book anytime of the year but especially great for today. Happy 4th of July!! 🇺🇸🗽
Such a shame this wasn‘t written when I was in middle school! I could have used this for my 8th grade history project. Paper mached + a Barbie doll = one crafty Statue of Liberty! #tdscampread18
@Kaye I received your book mark and card and they are lovely. I love 3D bookmarks. And it matches the book I tagged!
Sorry, l‘ll try to stop sharing so much, but....
Did you know it was about 35 years before The Statue of Liberty 🗽 turned green?
I love the way Eggers is talking to his intended audience! My daughter (9) enjoyed every bit of this book.
“Your friends and teachers will be astounded. They will be impressed. They might think you are fibbing.”
This has been on my radar for a long time and I have resisted. Today, my daughter received it as a gift from my dad — he didn‘t know I knew about it.
I love seeing these carts at work. New picture and chapter books! #Litsyloveslibraries
I finished this fun but interesting #childrens #nonfiction book today about the Statue of Liberty. I liked the #history and asp found the theory about her foot intriguing. On an odd note, I read a short story not too long ago about the Statue of Liberty taking a walk through NYC.

This is an amazing book! It tells the story of the #StatueofLiberty through short text and brightly colored illustrations. Most importantly, it reinforces the idea of the US as a nation that welcomes immigrants. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #PictureBooks #BackgroundKnowledge
So many awesome facts in this picture book that is perfect for my pint-sized Lady Liberty! 🗽
Another round of #fivestarpredictions . Thanks for the tag @CouronneDhiver ! I hope I love these titles from my tbr.
5⭐️Yes the book is heavy on the history of Lady Liberty but it does so with cheek and sass. the story changes halfway to focus specifically on her right foot, and how she is preparing to walk away. where is she walking? To welcome new people to this land. The story focuses on her symbolism a friend to immigrants. A fantastic book that is the perfect lesson on who this country was and what our forefathers believed.
This is definitely the book to read to young visitors who become enthralled with Lady Liberty. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
