I‘ve read so many horror stories I seldom get freaked out anymore. This book had me on the edge of my seat with fear, shock, and disbelief at the gruesome behaviors of these twisted serial killers. The narration sucked me in immediately and added creepy vibes to the story. Excellent writing and unique characters. #MountTBR #ReadingUSA2019 #Utah (part of the story takes place there and I want to check it off 😬)

This is actually a re-read for me, though this #Thriller definitely felt fresh and had me hooked with realistic characters, some gory murders and short chapters that made it easy to say “just one more...” It‘s the first in a series by one of my favorite authors (this is actually Glen Duncan) - and here‘s my newest #FavoriteFallCandle! #Candle #TeamStoker 11pts #ChillingPhotoChallenge #FallIsBooked #ScreamathonPhotoChallenge

Halfway through this morning at work, I had to admit defeat and take a sick day - I‘m so congested! Started this (unputtdownable so far) book in a very hot bath with peppermint and eucalyptus oil. Pictured with just some of my sick day paraphernalia (I get man colds), some random crap, and my every day buddy #Chloe #catsoflitsy #tuxedokittiesoflitsy @MinDea

mcipher @shellleigh33 Awww, thanks! I am totally taking it easy and hoping tomorrow this thing turns around. Stay healthy - sounds like this cold is everywhere! ☹️ 6y
shellleigh33 It is girl. We had the flu go through our house couple weeks ago and it was not fun at all. I am sending good vibes your way. Hope it is just sinuses or simple cold and you wake up feeling refreshed and better in the morning. Our doctor told us to take a medicine called Oscillococcinum that you can buy over the counter for the symptoms. It is a homeopathic medicine that is similar to tamiflu but a lot cheaper and it did help. 6y
shellleigh33 Have also been told that by one of the nurse practitioners that I work with that black elderberry is suppose to help with flu like symptoms. 6y
shellleigh33 Just wanted to “stop” by and check on you today. Hope you are feeling better 6y
mcipher @shellleigh33 I just heard that Oscillococcinum is the best thing! I have been taking zinc and black elderberry. And much better today, thanks!! 😊 Still stuffy but in the mend. Sorry you guys had the flu - kids are the worst with getting sick and I know working in a hospital doesn‘t help. 6y

This book was insane. I saw some reviews of people not being crazy about it but I actually enjoyed it. The fact that there was a more in depth story with the inner thoughts and desires of the killer both disturbed and interested me. I dont think this is a book for everyone because it can be very graphic but if you're a fan of psychological thrillers I say give it a try

ReadingRover This has been on my list for a while. It looks really good. I‘m glad you liked it. I‘ll have to bump it up! 6y

This book contains very descriptive sections with violence towards women. So do not read it if that is a trigger for you.

The lead detective, Valerie Hart, is after a serial killer who carves letters into his victims. This was just a so-so for me because I felt like the book could have benefited from some editing.

When two strangers turn up at Rowenas farmhouse, she knows that its the end of everything. For the haunted and driven men, it's just another stop on a long journey. They have more miles to go, and victims to sacrifice.

But the murders at the farmhouse didn't go according to plan. There was a survivor, Rowena's daughter Nell. Injured and terrified, Nell has only one place to go. And that place could be more dangerous than what she's running from.

RebelReader This is an awesome thriller! 😃 7y

Decent serial killer thriller/police procedural, win interesting main characters. But, all the trigger warnings in the world, the violence against women was too vivid on the page. The plot also relied a little too much on serendipity and coincidence. Took this picture at the zoo near my house one day a while back on an audio walk!

Overall, this was a pretty good book. It kept me interested, and it made me tense worrying about the characters. The only drawback is that I feel it was on the long side. A good editor could have tightened this up and made the story more concise. I listened to this on audio on Hoopla; the the woman reading did a nice job.

#TBRtemptation post 5! This is the first installment in the Valerie Hart series. Two haunted men leave a long trail of blood and death in their wake. Women are abducted, tortured, & left with strange objects inside them. On a Colorado farm, a 10-year-old girl survives. Det. Valerie Hart is on the case, and she must get to Nell who may hold the key to stopping the psychopaths. Tense and suspenseful. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

I was in the mood for a fast paced read, and this was perfect. Very dark, but Black kept the tension up from the first page to the last and I enjoyed getting lost in this read.

...meh.

The book tells the story of a serial killing duo who like to torture, rape, and murder women (why is this the plot of EVERY damn thriller these days?!) and the damaged police officer determined to bring them down. "The Killing Lessons" featured at least two unnecessary subplots, including one that still makes me angry ?
If anyone has some GOOD thriller recs for me, I'll love you forever

I have mixed feelings about this one. It was brutal and gritty, the characters deep and intense, but it should have been 100 pages shorter. This is what I call a literary thriller, where the author bogs down the pacing with all the wonderfully crafted words he wants you to read. Despite all the parts I could have lived without, I did enjoy it, so I'll give it a pick. #LitsyAtoZ #LetterK

You know in titanic when they keep getting stuck in the decks below while the ship is sinking and you wish they'd just get on with it, escape to the outside? Well this book felt like that. Carla was not who I thought but close to being cliche. This would probably make a good thriller of a movie.
