#11 of 2023 Pros: Interesting characters. Descriptive setting (Alaska, mostly in deep winter)almost like another character. Believable protagonist. Cons: Too long, made the story drag. Many of those interesting characters didn‘t seem particularly real. Read for a Bookgirls challenge.
Finished this last night before bed but today has been a whirlwind. Work, finally (mostly) kicking the headache I‘ve had for the past week, we‘ve been low key house hunting so we looked at a house this afternoon (it‘s not the house for us), I‘m just now sitting down to read/catch up. This is not Nora‘s best, but I love books set in Alaska and other cold things so I‘d give it 3.5 stars.
Another top 5 stand alone Nora Roberts fave. Set in a tiny town in Alaska, the location is part of what makes it great. I loved feeling as if I were a part of this quirky town with it's unique inhabitants. It's a suspenseful romantic thriller that I enjoy more everytime I read it. If you could see it in person, you'd know how much it's loved.
Roberts does romantic suspense pretty well, and although I could do with fewer steamy scenes, overall this was a pick. The atmosphere and gradual change in the MC was so well done. Stayed up late to find out who the murderer was, so I am upping my goal for #24B42020 to 15hrs, because I should hit 10 today!

Probably should have saved this book for #YearoftheChunksters since it is over 600 pages, but I am hooked now!! This was my #24b42020 time as of bedtime last night - still on track to hit my goal of 10hrs, but a lot more family shenanigans today! Also everyone understands the rule where you have to eat all your Christmas goodies before New Year's so you can start healthy, right?? Just doing my part!! 😁
I haven't read this one yet, but it has been on my shelf quite a while.

Set in Alaska, this book by Roberts combines suspense with romance #underneaththestars . One of the first “suspense” novels I read by Roberts, who used to be my go to for escape reading - I‘ve moved more towards cozy mysteries for that, though I still do pick up Roberts‘ novels. I liked this one. #ayupaugust
I‘ve enjoyed the book, and the movie, starring LeAnn Rimes, about a Baltimore cop trying to escape a past tragedy and move to #Alaska

#quotsyjune19 @TK-421 #north “He looked around when he heard a window-rattling roar. ‘Earthquake? Volcano? Nuclear war?‘ ‘Beaver‘ Peter told him. ‘I don‘t care if it is Alaska, you don‘t have beavers big enough to sound like that.‘”
I definitely enjoyed the book more than the movie, but you know how that goes. The first male point of view books I have read from Miss Nora. Enjoyed reading 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 #4ChocolateThumbs
