The Vampire's Mail Order Bride
The Vampire's Mail Order Bride: Nocturne Falls book 1 | Kristen Painter
29 posts | 35 read | 23 to read
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all. After seeing her maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James assumes a new identity and pretends to be a mail order bride. She finds her groom-to-be living in a town that celebrates Halloween every day. Weird. But not as weird as what she doesnt know. Her groom-to-be is a 400-year-old vampire. Hugh Ellingham has only agreed to the arranged set up to make his overbearing grandmother happy. In thirty days, whatever bridezilla shows up at his door will be escorted right back out. His past means love is no longer an option. Not if the womans going to have a future. Except he never counted on Delaney and falling in love for real. Too bad both of them are keeping some mighty big secrets...

This was a light, fun book. Set in a town where it is Halloween everyday. That way the vampires, werewolf‘s etc., can kind of be out in the open but still hidden to the normal people.

Delaney is running from the mob after seeing her boss kill someone. She ends up in Georgia after stealing someone‘s folder for a mail order bride system.

It‘s silly but it was a fun romance. I‘ll definitely continue this series. #serieslove2023

TheSpineView I enjoyed this one too. I have not read the others yet. So I will be interested in your thoughts. 1y
wanderinglynn Sounds like fun! I‘ll add it to my Oct TBR. 🎃 1y

Thank you everyone for the well wishes for my son, he has fully recovered and is feeling just fine. He has since given it to me and with two auto immunes I‘m feeling like junk and just can‘t kick it. I‘ve been trying to work as much as I can, I work from home, but mostly it‘s been sleeping or dazing while the tv is on. I‘m going to try a reread of one of my favorite series, and catch up on some new ones. I hope you all have a beautiful week!!

Dragon Take care of yourself 💐 glad your son is better, wishing you a speedy recovery.💚 🐉 3y

Deeply doofy but good natured. I did find the most compelling thing about it the Halloween tourist trap town, which miiiiiiiight be the form my soul takes.

Weird amount of victim blaming a lady who died while getting turned into a vampire! Weird!

Laat pages of this book got me thinking: does anyone have any recommendations for stories with fat vampires? Where they're not disgusting, just fat vamps leading their undead lives.

khooliha Just realized Stake Sauce fits the bill - I should probably reread! 5y

I haven‘t been able to enjoy anything #maythefourth related. We‘ve finally gotten just about everything packed up and ready for the move on Wednesday and I am exhausted. So tonight I‘m watching Live PD and Re-Reading this lovely series until my mind fully turns to mush and I pass out for the next 12 hours!!

Fizzy and frothy. A light romance with a surprisingly self-assured heroine. Just have a box of chocolates nearby, 'cause she's a baker. Also, there needs to be a rating between pick and so-so. Call this 2 1/2 stars instead of 3. #paranormalromance

Delaney runs away from her murderous mobster boss and pretends to be a mail order bride, not realizing her "husband-to-be" is a vampire! This is cheesy, paranormal romance fluff! There are times when it would be a bit much for me, but luckily, this was exactly what I needed right now: to just forget everything happening in reality for a little while and to fill the V on my #LitsyAtoZ list. Painter will definitely be on my list when I need a break!

#riotgrams Pink Cover. To me honest this is getting difficult. #17booklove has a pink cover day as well in a couple days. I don't own a lot of pink cover books and they ones I do are on kindle.

I love when authors give us short stories to fill in the gaps between books or to catch up with side characters or whatever it may be about. These are some of my favorites!! #booktober #shortstories @RealLifeReading

Cute story. With it being a romance novel I'm surprised if wasn't more (*cough*) descriptive. So if you are looking for that you are out of luck. It really is a cute story and I want to read the next one in the series.

A quick, light read. The romantic entanglement arises quite quickly, but the author makes a reasonable job of selling it. I'd certainly keep an eye out for the second book.

Very cute fantasy rom lit. The rom part was a bit trite: rich handsome guy and quick romance; but some good details and a female character more interesting than average, with a few good zingers. Giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ but filing it as Pick because I wanted a fun beach read and it really fit the bill 😉

That said, so far this is not nearly as lame as the cover and title suggest — kind of fun, actually 😸

This is a sweet, light hearted romance that has very little drama. It's one of the first true fluff books I've ever read in the paranormal/urban fantasy genre. I absolutely loved this book and will definitely be reading the rest in the series.
