I‘ve used this book for so many prompts, but it fits! #summersouls #sunglasses

OK so the library card is renewed... But I ended up with 2 new books on my TBR...
I‘m always late to the party… I‘ll be honest, I‘m not always the best with satire. I enjoyed this and then I hit a certain plot device with Elgin‘s admin and I felt like it became too goofy. I loved Bernadette‘s relationship with her daughter. I liked the setup of the narrative. I just almost DNF‘d about 3/4 of the way through and muscled my way to the end. 😕 One more book of Mount TBR, though. ☺️ May #BookSpin #52BookClub #ABookAboutSecrets
Sunglasses Day...this cover immediately popped into my head!

Story told through faxes, emails, documents, and Bernadette's daughter Bee fills in the rest. This is not what I expected - I thought it was a murder type mystery - no it's about a woman who is a genius and possibly dealing with mental health issues and how she (Bernadette) and her family, and her arch enemy Audrey, deal with it. Funny, smart, very good read.⬇️
Make a great day everyone 🌞
#20in4 thanks for hosting @Andrew65 - plan to finish tagged book, which will bring April #BookSpinBingo (thanks for hosting @TheAromaofBooks ) to an end for me - a very good reading month -
Make a great day everyone -😊
My plans for the rest of April and then I'm ready for May #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks - I have really enjoyed the books I've read this month,
no duds😊
Make a great day everyone 📚
Fun! I loved the characters, even the “bad guys” were quirky and relatable. I know I‘m late to the game with this one. I‘m glad I finally pulled it off the shelf, thanks to #booked2023 #startswithaVorW.
I loved everything about this book. I absorbed it and read it so fast. Character development was great, it catches you by surprise, it can be relatable. It‘s hilarious, it‘s heartbreaking and throw in dysfunction..it‘s really the whole package.
Watched the movie first and LOVED it. Then listened to the book to get more details. I bet I wouldn‘t like Bernadette in person, but I admired her genius and her relationship with her daughter 💖
Starting my December #TBRTarot book because I can‘t remember where I set the one I was gonna read today 😈 The prompt is “has a blurb that starts with It”. This is actually one of the books that I received from my first ever Litsy swap so it‘s been waiting a long time to be read. #WinterReadathon Also it‘s nice to be using my patio again while it‘s cool enough.
I finished this one just in time before tomorrow‘s #BookClub meeting! I didn‘t realize at first that this book is a decade old already- but a few technology references do date this. Otherwise it‘s a funny epistolary novel that really works well with this lively audio performance! A few things seemed there just for the added drama, but overall I enjoyed listening while decorating for the holidays!
On the lighter side of #breakdown moments. An enjoyable read, but dare I say it… the movie was better!!!

“My heart started racing, not the bad kind of heart racing, like I'm going to die. But the good kind of heart racing, like, Hello, can I help you with something? If not, please step aside because I'm about to kick the shit out of life.”

Bernadette is a ball of anxious energy. She‘s quirky, a bit annoying and arrogant. She‘s on the brink of a meltdown. Her daughter Bee and her husband are left to pick up the pieces after she disappears. This is an epistolary novel, told through letters and e-mails that Bee has compiled. In a way, they are a love letter to her mom. I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters, but the story was engaging and funny at times. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 5
I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this book for Stockton Book Club these holidays. Bernadette made me laugh. It was a quick read for me. Now to watch the movie…
Quiet time on the Rehoboth Bay. ❤️📚 Love girls‘ weekend with my besties, who are also readers!
Took a 2 hour kayak tour earlier today at the Burton‘s Island Trailhead, then a delicious lunch in Rehoboth.
Enjoying the back patio after some spring cleanup. Now it‘s time to relax. Will be using this space for a fire pit night later. Meeting our oldest son‘s GF‘s parents for the first time tonight. 😊❤️📚
Just starting to get the rhythm of this epistolary novel.
Getting in a little reading time before tackling some chores. Dinner out tonight for our annual “Sibling Dinner” (instead of giving Christmas gifts to each other, my brothers and our spouses choose to spend time together and go out to a really nice dinner). A little delayed this year. It‘s always a fabulous night; we have so much fun together! Looking forward to it, but won‘t get much reading time today. 🤷♀️❤️📚
Reading this one next. It‘s been on my TBR for a while, and it‘s lined up on my #bookspinbingo board in the most likely spot to achieve a bingo, as the 4th book to be read in a line. ❤️📚 Looking forward to finally reading it!
On Thurs night I had a surprise night off ballet. The weather in my city has been pretty bad so my teacher cancelled & when I‘m happy or sad I go op shopping! The dress cost more than I usually pay at the op shop but it still had the tag on it. Worth $120 & I got it for $55! My nickname is Lil so I had to have the shirt signed by an artist to another Lil. Ha! The shark tooth earrings are to make my fishing obsessed nephew think I‘m cool. ❤️ hats.
February round up!
Where'd You Go, Bernadette 5 ⭐️'s
Couldn't put it down. Started at 7pm finished @ 5am. Next day was rough, but worth it.
Deal Breaker 3 ⭐️'s
Classic noir. Language surrounding sex work doesn't age well.
The Ninties 4 ⭐️'s
Fun book. But having lived through it, there wasn't much in here that I didn't already know.
The Anthropocene Reviewed 5⭐️'s
Essays both broad and specific with a mix of memoir and interesting facts.
The unusual format put me off the first time I attempted to read this but I picked it up for book club and am enjoying it so far. Bernadette makes me anxious but I‘m starting to like her this time…
Lots of detail, liked the “letter-writing” theme that carries throughout ~~~ 1st person got a little confusing at times. Normally, it is Bee, but at times “I” is another character(s) ~ especially during a letter. Made me pay attention!
This has been on my TBR forever. I‘m not gonna lie, things have been pretty craptastic around here lately and I needed something to make me laugh. This was on a bunch of funniest books list and I figured, why not? 🤷🏻♀️ Guys, I freaking loved this book! It has an underlying tinge of sadness to it but I love the characters. Bee is a little badass and I wish I had her spunk at that age. The #audiobook was so good! So many lol moments. 😅 5⭐️

After a slow start to the year, this was the book that helped kick my reading into high gear. Super entertaining and my favorite for #April
@Andrew65
I always like a book that makes me do a little research out of interest of topics in the story. Traveling to Antarctica? Never realized that is it was legit cruise that was extremely expensive and obviously extremely cold 😆. This book was light hearted, funny and exactly what I needed for a escape from the hell environment of my job right now. Pick!
AMAZING! I‘m sure everyone that was going to have read it has done so at this point but in case you haven‘t…..
I had to tear my eyes off the pages to enjoy the beautiful Alaskan landscape haha
