I came to a part of this book that made me cry so I had to put it down. Minerva thinks that means it‘s hers now. #KAL #CatsofLitsy #ReadingBuddy #catwithbook
This was a great series to read out loud with my daughter. Adventure, magic, a princess, friendships and so much more! We spent about a year and a half on them, spaced among other books, and loved the journey (my kid takes her dolls on trips to “Prydain Land” where they can meet the characters, including the Hall of Villains). I cried a lot reading this one. Such a good epic for young readers!
Reading this with my five-year-old daughter last night (we‘re so close to the end!), we came to a mention of something from the first book. She needed a reminder, so we talked about the episode briefly. Then, “oh yes! That was from back at the beginning when I was just learning the GLORY of these books!”
That‘s my girl.

I love this series, though books 3 and 4 were a bit lackluster compared to the first two books. The direction of the series had me somewhat nervous for the conclusion to the Chronicles of Prydain and then I was blown away by The High King's awesomeness. This book is how you finish out a series. I wish every author I read could finish this strong.
I‘m a little sad to come to the end of The Chronicles of Prydain... it‘s been so fun listening and #audiocoloring and just re-living my childhood a bit with this series! I hadn‘t remembered this climatic conclusion as well, so I was genuinely nervous at times! A true classic that has well withstood the test of time!!
I read this book last year as part of a challenge to read as many Newbery‘s as I could in a year. I enjoyed this whole series and this was my favorite within it.
A very powerful sword falls into the hands of the biggest bad guy around and a group of friends go to retrieve it before he can destroy their world.
This is a Newbery award winner, but it would have helped to read the earlier book. Kind of like Lord of the Rings for teens without hobbits, faeries, and trolls, but there are some mythical creatures. (I still prefer hobbits)

One of my favorite series in middle school. Got this copy after we weeded at my library and I brought it home for my own shelf! Also a Newbery winner in 1969.
I finally finished this one and it didn't disappoint. I stopped halfway through and didn't go back to it for a couple of months, partly from stress over the plot and partly because when you love a series you just don't want it to end. I will miss these and will definitely buy my kids a new set and read them together. Eillowny and Taran are goals. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
