I love this series, though books 3 and 4 were a bit lackluster compared to the first two books. The direction of the series had me somewhat nervous for the conclusion to the Chronicles of Prydain and then I was blown away by The High King's awesomeness. This book is how you finish out a series. I wish every author I read could finish this strong.

TorieStorieS I couldn‘t agree more!!! My first favorite fantasy series for sure!!! 6y
Quirkybookworm Try Malice by John Gwynn. There are 4 books in the series. Awesomeness! @Phinfluenza 6y
Phinfluenza Thanks for the suggestion @Quirkybookworm I'll totally check it out! 6y

Book 4 of the chronicles of Prydain reads like a cross between a prequel and a collection of short stories though it is neither. It centers on the main protagonist of the series (Taran) and is a 'finding oneself' book. The weakest of the series so far, though I am happy I read it. It adds to the overall series, though not much.

Book 3 of the chronicles of Prydain teases the reader with backstory knowledge of one of the main characters, but never really delivers with any gusto. We learn enough to add the shallowest amount of depth, but that's all. That said, this is a wonderful adventure story that indeed adds go the overall scope of the overarching tale.

Book 2 of the chronicles of Prydain kicked up the emotion meter from the prior book, adding an air of maturity to the series that in no way makes it less accessible to any reader, but perhaps 'that much more' accessible to readers looking for a smidge more intensity and character complexity. A beautiful continuation to the story.

Pulp SciFi at its best! This was bought for me at random and though I won't be going out to find the rest of the series, I will keep an eye open for more every time I'm at a used book store. Fun, action packed, and a bit over the top. Loved it! (quick fun read)

swynn Yay for Perry Rhodan! 6y
Phinfluenza I had seen your Perry Rhodan posts @swynn but now that I've read one I enjoy them so much more! Thanks for posting all the SciFi awesomeness! 6y

I audiobooked this one and picked it purely based on the cover and title... and then the reader introduced me to a special brand of heartbreak cocktail: 2 parts sexual abuse, 1 part emotional abuse, 1 part physical abuse, 2 parts drug abuse, 2 parts broken dreams, 3 parts hope, 4 parts tragic event after tragic event - mix thoroughly and pour over icecubes made of tears and lost innocence. Oh yeah, and it's a love story. (a wonderful downer)

It's shameless self promotion time! I wrote this sometime ago and published it for Kindle, revising it over the years and within the last year settling on a final version with a paperback edition available as well. Too long for a short story but too short for a novel, it is the story of a family whose members find tragedy throughout their lives. Each chapter is part of a different family member's story and each written in a different style.

Phinfluenza $0.99 for Kindle, $0.00 for Kindle Unlimited, $4.95 for paperback https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0751KCH9J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_KmdiBb8PKYJ25 7y

The Book of Three | Lloyd Alexander

Bought all 5 books of Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain some years back, used for about $10 total. FINALLY got around to reading the first of the series and am annoyed with myself for waiting so long. A funtastic story full of adventure, suspense, and a world rich with history, magical creatures, and diverse characters. Excited to continue on through the saga!

This is a beautifully written book. I found myself going from "what is the meat and potatoes of this story" to being entranced by poetic nature of Katie Kitamura's writing. A tragic story I'll be reading again.

The only book I had yet to read in the Brandon Sanderson set of books (I own them all... he's kinda one of my favorite authors ever) I initially found it to be a least favorite of his... by the end it had moves far up the ladder.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Just finished my 2nd Sanderson (Words of Radiance) and I‘m thinking this might be my 3rd. 7y
Phinfluenza The Stormlight Archives are easily my favorite "in progress" series. The original Mistborn Trilogy falling second in line of Sanderson goodness, Warbreaker being my favorite standalone of his so far. I haven't read one of his works yet that I have not enjoyed. 7y

Rarely do I read heist novels, but I couldn't be happier that I picked this one up. I haven't laughed this hard while reading a book since "Master of Space and Time" by Rudy Rucker... tears and side aches. Ghosts, monsters, angels, demons, booze, and a whole lot of thievery!

I don't remember where I initially read about this book, but it grabbed hold of my interest and seemed something my 12yo daughter might enjoy so I bought it for her as a surprise. I read it first and though there are a few words sprinkled throughout that I may not approve of for her reading material, none are deal breakers... that said, the story is beautiful and emotional, heartbreakingly realistic and full of both cute and dark fantasy.

This book could easily be retitled Heartbreak & Tragedy (a tale to make your soul cry). This book is beautifully written and the story is told with a precise grace that will lovingly stab you in the heart over and over again. I cannot recommend it enough. This will remind you that you're alive.

A beautiful and tragic piece of art, this book is something to blaze through, ponder on, then reread in a different way. Multiple ways to read this sorry told in 63 interlinked vignettes each with an accompanying photograph makes this a cross between Choose Your Own Adventure, and purposefully planned out storytelling genius. I love this book... A lot.

A surrealist novel told almost strictly in pictures. That... Is exactly what it is, and it is a beautiful thing. If you love odd art it's for you, if you love surrealism, it's for you, if you want something on your bookshelf to make the people in your life who rifle through your books say, "umm... WHAT?", this book is for you.

My daughter had to read this book for school... she blazed through it and wanted me to read it. I jumped on the chance to share a book she now loves. This book is an entertaining and well written portal into the mind of a 13 year old boy dealing with his little brother's cancer and all the things that come along with being an 8th grader. Finished it in a day and immediately purchased the sequel. Can't wait to get it in the mail. 😁

Not an easy read or the the faint of heart. Beautifully written and filled with tragedy this novel of experimental fiction is well worth the time. I can't recommend it enough and I will never read it again. 😁

Never before have I been able to relate so personally and fully to a character. Taking place as a man reminisces about his work day, lunch hour, and life in general along his ascent to the mezzanine office where he works, via an escalator. A realistic look into the way our minds wander and each of our senses give way to memories and questions. Funny, thought provoking, and definitely worth the read.

This was the first Western book I have ever read. My wife picked it up for me at a small stand on the side of the road and I am truly glad that she did. Fun quick story about a gunman hired to save a Stageline hauling gold that just so happens to keep getting robbed. By all means worth the read, I will be looking for more books by the author in the near future.
