I tend to love and very quickly devour Rachel Harrison's feminist horror, and this book was no exception! I read most of it in one sitting.

This particular story revolves around themes of love, friendship, identity, and self-determination, and is, as always, steeped in Harrison's signature wit and easy to identify with characters.

This one might vie with Such Sharp Teeth as my favorite of her books!

This book has everything...romance, comedy, horror, vampire lore , and female empowerment.....problem is none of them are done well.
I know this author has some die hard fans, but the romance flat , the comedy bland, the horror meh, the vampire lore is lacking & the female empowerment a cliched trope. Also, the story is boring, some scenes are headscratchers the main characters are unlikable I don't even remember there being a plot

4✨ It started out pretty slow, but man when it got going! There is a lot of detailed gore, young vampires that can‘t control themselves, and old vampires that we are not super clear on their motives. There was moments where is was unhappy with our mains decisions, but when you are so thirsty I guess thinking straight is on the back burner. #FableBuddyRead @Littlewolf1

I haven‘t read any of these nominees. I like voting in the Goodreads Choice Awards every year but I don‘t know if I can vote this year if I haven‘t read any of the books. I guess it depends on what the other categories are. I still might vote anyway even if I haven‘t read any of the books. I‘ll just vote for whatever books sound good to me if I haven‘t read them. If it‘s something I‘ve read then I‘ll vote for it.

I enjoyed this ode to female friendship and empowerment. Sloane leads a life in which she allows herself to be drained, what will she make of her own thirst? I can‘t say that much about this story will stick with me, but it was perfect for spooky szn. The audio was impressive! 3.5 ⭐️ 🎧
