Couldn‘t get into this book. In one chapter the author listed flaws writers could give their characters. They said being sensitive was a character flaw. I was done with the book then (feeling big emotions is not a character flaw!) and I decided bail and move on to something more interesting.

There are so many books I‘d rather read than this #womensprize longlisted books in which some short stories are rather artificially sold as a novel. Too far fetched, maybe entertaining but man, why this nomination? There are so many books much, much better than this one. It‘s a fast easy read but I just don‘t bother enough to finish it.

I decided to bail on Blood Lovers yesterday. I made it to the halfway point and couldn't make myself finish. Sad that I invested that much time not to finish. Yet, I am relieved. #hailthebail

I only got about 6 chapters in before I realized I didn't care what was happening. I can't pinpoint why this wasn't working for me but I knew I didn't want to push through. Next!

I need to take a break from this type of book for a while…Storylines are starting to run together and I just became exasperated with this one at about 60%.

I understand that characters don't need to be likeable for a book to be good. I also understand that this book is supposed to be shocking and uncomfortable. For me, however, this felt like it was being "quirky" and shocking just to be quirky and shocking. It was not landing. This felt like Erica Jong mixed with a heavy dose of Woody Allen ick, and I feel gross having listened to it. Bailed around 50%, but should have after chapter 3.

It has a lot of positive reviews, but sadly, it‘s not for me.
