@Mollyanna I did mail this, but as usual I forgot to let you know. You should be receiving it any time. Sorry. And thanks.

This was interesting from the historical perspective, but not my favorite. The conclusion part seemed like overkill. I had gathered all of that information from the previous sections. This one will be on its way to you @CatLass007 #whodunitthesequel
Such a Victorian mystery! Despite having a bit of a plodding narrative at times, this book was still definitely worth reading for the historical context of the development of the mystery story. And who can resist mesmerism?!

@ScientistSam do you currently have a #whodunitthesequel book? I‘ve finished mine for this round a little early and can mail it on to you early next week if you‘re ready for it...just let me know. 😊
This book is different. It is the account (made up of letters, depositions, etc.) of an English insurance investigator presenting a case for fraud and murder. My biggest peeve is wading through the dense and often repetitive language (it WAS written in the 1860s). It‘s widely held as the first detective novel, and I did find it fascinating in its mechanics. Cold-blooded and sly. 3.5/5⭐️ but probably not a true pick.

Up next is my #whodunitthesequel book for the month.
It appeared from the outside to be a shorter, therefore quicker read...until I opened it and found the way it‘s written is going to slow me down considerably. 🤪😜🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🐢🐢🐢 Uh yeah, I mean even slower than I usually am. 🤣🤣🤣
@ferskner I got your package today...thanks! 😊

As per usual I forgot to take a picture of the book before I sent it off to @robinb. I was very much of two minds while reading this. I really liked learning more about the history of the mystery genre and how The Notting Hill Mystery fits into that, but...was it a mystery?? I didn't find the story's progression very satisfying since we know whodunit from almost the beginning. I loved the laying out of evidence, though.

Well, the envelope is boring, and the picture is terrible, but this is on its way to you, @ferskner ! Happy reading! #whodunitthesequel
#bookmail post 1- I came home from our road trip to find some packages! Thanks @JenlovesJT47 for the #whodunitthesequel!
I received these lovelies from @Jess_Read_This for #whodunitthesequel - looking forward to this one!
4⭐️ The first “detective fiction” novel is so unique. I was struck by the novel concepts for the time period. Twins linked with a physical/mental connection, mesmerism, inheritance conspiracy, murder most foul, and what conclusion do you, dear reader, draw from the case outlined for you via letters, journal entries, and recorded witness testimony? Just brilliantly done. I can only imagine the suspense it created when serialized. 🔎
🍺🔎When embarking on a novel that predates Wilkie Collins‘ The Moonstone in detective fiction, actually this is touted as the “first detective fiction novel” (1862-1863 serialized); one ought to indulge in a plowman‘s platter lunch and dig in. This book is totally my jam in that the tale is told in a complete epistolary format. ✉️📖
A most excellent selection for this month‘s #WhodunitTheSequel book! I was excited for this #bookmail.
This one was interesting in a historical sense, but I couldn‘t shake similarities to The Woman in White, and I wasn‘t in the right headspace for the language. It was enjoyable though, so thanks for picking it for #whodunitthesequel! @Jess_Read_This it is headed your way and the post office said it should be there by Tuesday
Finished this for #whodunitthesequel . @Tiffy_Reads , it is on its way to you.
I‘m glad I read this, but I‘m giving it a so-so. Without going into too many elements, I enjoyed seeing the early development of the mystery. Mystery lovers should check this out, if simply for reading the earliest detective novel.
Can‘t wait what others in the group say about this!
Started this morning on my contribution to #whodunitthesequel . Received a little bit of help from these two guys. #Zeke #Vladimir #catsoflitsy
My plan is to put this in the mail to @Tiffy_Reads on Wednesday!
Look what came today...my book for #whodunitthesequel ! This weekend, I plan to scout out a cool notebook.
