Book club celebrating the holidays and discussing “Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald,” by Therese Anne Fowler
Finished this last night, and I have thoughts! Can‘t wait for book club this weekend to discuss. Compelling story, well-written, fascinating subject. #bookclub #bookswithbeth #firstsaturdayreaders
About a quarter into this and finding myself curious as to the real Zelda and Scott.
It‘s a pretty decent book. It wasn‘t my favourite book overall, but was one of only two Z books I have read. #alphabetgame #letterz
#AlphabetGame Thanks for hosting @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and thanks for all the tags @Allylu ❤️😄📚I DEVOURED this novel about Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald❣️❣️❣️SO GOOD 😊
REALLY enjoying this read!!! It‘s been on my TBR shelf since 2013. I‘m regretting waiting so long!
Next up…

I didn‘t know anything about the Fitzgerald‘s before reading this book. I only decided to read it because of the amazing reviews I‘ve read and seen. I‘ve always meant to read The Great Gatsby and now I will. I might even try and track down her book. I really enjoyed this novel. It‘s was dark and moody, but you still love the Fitzgerald‘s. It makes me wonder about Hemingway as well?? Another rabbit hole to go down as well. It was a good read.
I loved this audio! Zelda is such a fascinating individual. As always, I‘m conflicted over fictionalizations because it‘s hard to know what‘s true and what‘s imagined. I definitely want to read a biography about the Fitzgerald‘s ~ any suggestions?!?!?
OMG!!! SO GOOD!!!!! Narration brilliant 🙌🏻♥️🎧 I can‘t believe how long this has been on my TBR. This will probably make my top 10 of the year 😁
I really liked this novelization of Zelda Fitzgerald‘s life. It was more sympathetic than the other books I‘ve read, and gave a whole other side to the story.
My cat was demanding attention & in the way, so I used him in this pic. I‘ve had this book for several years & had forgotten that it isn‘t a bio of Zelda, so it‘s prob not an accurate account. I think it‘s too long, & it really focuses on the early part of her marriage—during the ‘20s. Her last 10 years with Scott (the hospitals/breakdowns) only takes up a small portion. I found it ironic that Fowler writes a lot about Z‘s desire for an identity👇
3 ⭐️ While the book started out strong, it kinda petered out and felt like a slog for a good chunk of it. It was decent enough. Was my #bookspin book for January. #2021 #bookreview #bookstagram #historicalfiction #basedonatruestory #fiction #litsyatoz2021 #z

"Look closer and you'll see something extraordinary, mystifying, something real and true. We have never been what we seemed."
I really want to like this one but am struggling at about a third of the way in. I think I'll set it aside for a bit and give Seren my attention.
"If only people could travel as easily as words. Wouldn't that be something? If only we could be so easily revised."
This was way more interesting than I was thinking it was going to be. It sent me down a rabbit hole of research to see what was real and what was not.
I got this! Just two letters remain on #LitsyAtoZ2019. #24B4Monday is going to help me crush these last two books!
Just started this book as my last #LitsyAtoZ book this year. #letterz #igotthis
Starting this while I wait for my Book of the Month book to finally show up.
This book had me going down the rabbit hole of researching Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, which lead to Hemingway and all his marriages.
These people had such crazy lives…and sad ones. I‘ve never read any of their novels…now I want to. This book was beautifully written and
completely sucked me in.
This is gonna be my next one. Picked it up on ThriftBooks for $4.69!
Beginning this one. My book clubs pick this month. Hope it's good...
#SoaringScores A novel about Zelda Fitzgerald, and her husband F. Scott Fitzgerald, who was quite the #Partyman.
@CrowCAH @Cinfhen
This is a reread for #LitsyAtoZ
After reading so much of these people in between my first read of this book and now my second, (and I realize it's a fictionalized account) my opinion is that it is very loosely based on their real lives. Still though a lovely read.
I know a lot of people loved this book, and I was so excited to read it but I couldn‘t stay interested. I bailed. Maybe I‘ll try again some other time.
I really enjoyed reading this novel about Zelda Fitzgerald, and now I want to read her short stories and novel. #LitsyAtoZ #Z #AbecedarianTBR @BookishMarginalia

I‘m having a hard time staying interested in this, and I was so excited to read it. I‘m on chapter 13. Please tell me this picks up speed if I keep reading.
I don‘t usually read a book at breakfast-usually it‘s WaPo on my Kindle these days- but Uverse struck again on Saturday. Service is out. No tv, no internet, no phone. 😡 Living on cell data until the tech gets here on Wednesday. Not happy, but at least I have plenty of reading time. Not sure why I‘m eating with grandson‘s dinosaur placemat 😂
Z offers a look at what life was like for a talented woman in an age dominated by men; being made to stand behind her husband so her star would never eclipse his. The story of the dazzling Fitzgerald‘s takes on a new voice when recounted through the eyes of Zelda. 👍🏻👍🏻
I was so excited to find this on the clearance shelf for $2 at our 2nd & Charles bookstore. Can‘t wait to dig in.
Especially for Lynn, just to make you smile.
No way in this crowded waiting room to stage a good picture of my book. Hubby is having an endoscopy this morning, so I‘m trying to read, but the place is small, packed, and noisy. Although I think Zelda wouldn‘t have minded the crowd or the noise ...
Starting this today, while sitting in the waiting room while hubby has physical therapy.
If you‘re Team Zelda, you‘ll love this one. If you‘re Team Scott...well, you‘ll have some misgivings. I only knew of the Fitzgeralds‘ volatile relationship through bits and pieces of other things I read. In Fowler‘s debut novel, she constructs a story of two broken people who find each other and hinder/help each other. Told from Zelda‘s perspective, it‘s haunting and sad, with a touch of nostalgia.
