“For the soul walks upon all paths. The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reef. The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.”
What a stunning little book! Thank you, Gibran for this beautiful book— the words stirring feelings of vulnerability in me. I really enjoyed the passages on Joy and Sorrow, Pain, and Beauty.
This was my #doublespin pick for April!
Didn't mind this! Bit preachy, but some nice quotes to pull out
#MarvellousMarch 3/3 books read! Now I'll just keep reading as much as I can!
"The timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness. And knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream." #OnThisDay in 1883, Kahlil Gibran was born in Bsharri, Lebanon. His best known work, The Prophet, is one of the best- selling books of all time, has been translated into more than 100 languages, and has never been out of print. #HistoryGetsLIT
“You work so that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth. For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life‘s procession that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite.”
Absolutely obsessed with this little book!! I see why it is a classic. The passage on death is particularly moving.
This little book includes The Prophet, for which Gibran is most famous, as well as extracts from two other works.
I thought it might be a bit deeply philosophical for me but I liked The Prophet, the others not so much.

My favorite book, can read it over and over. Hits different before and after having children, too (page 17).
Short, sweet, and full of poetic prose that speaks about the human experience. Religion is referenced, but even those who aren't believers can still find tons of value in Gibran's work. Hard to believe 96 pages took me 4 days but these are hard times 😅😓 hope you're all doing well!
We are all human. Loving the poetic prose through which Kahlil Gibran speaks.
It's December 1 (how? 😩🤯) and I still have a ways to go if I want to complete my #MountTBR challenge for 2020. Will be sorting my shelf by page count until further notice 🤪
My completed #summer for #booked2020 . All in all, these books were some of the highlights in my reading for this quarter😃
📚Red/White/Blue - Courage [Gordon Brown]
📚Eccentric MC - A Man Called Ove [F. Backman]
📚YA Novel by POC - On the Come Up [Angie Thomas]
📚Wine of Whine - Cork Dork [Bianca Bosker]
📚Banned Book - The Prophet [Kahlil Gibran]
📚Armchair Travel - Around the World in 80 Trains [Monisha Rajesh]
I read this as part of my #doublespin as well as #booked2020 #bannedbook - as the bookseller that sold it to me cautioned that it is a banned book in my country.
I loved the poetry - the words just washed over me as it talked about philosophies about love, marriage, life etc. Not in great detail - but perhaps enough to prompt some thought.

#PoetryMatters - Knowledge: I should liked to have spent time in the company of Kahlil Gibran. There is a beauty and tranquility exuded from his words. If he was true in nature and like the uttering of his soul then surely I would have enjoyed sitting someplace with him conversing in quietude.
Yup. That time in the evening. Makeup off, headlamp on, and taking a break from the gore of Stephen King to revisit the beauty of Kahlil Gibran, who's always been one of my favorites. 🤓📖💡💋
Anyone else use headlamps instead of the traditional book light? They're not a sexy look for the boudoir, but they're much more efficient. 🤷🏽♀️
If nerdy is the new sexy, is dweeb the new nerd? 🤣🤣

You shall be free indeed when your days are not without a care nor your nights without a want and a grief, but rather when these things girdle your life and yet you rise above them naked and unbound.
This was a quick read that really left me tranquil😊 Love, marriage, children and all aspects of life portrayed in a non judgemental poetic way. Beautiful❤️
Time for a #WeeklyForecast and #BookReport This week between fire preparations on our property I have read 2 short novels ( I usually go for chunksters😊) Chess Story which I loved and Before The coffee gets cold. Beauty is a thing of might and dread. Like the tempest she shakes the earth beneath us and the sky above us. #QuotsyOct19
A classic. Poetic language that fits perfectly with the philosophy it carries.
Your children are not your children. They are the subs and daughters of life's longing for itself.. they come through you not from you.. And they are with you yet they belong not you...
1. Yes, except when I‘m really depressed. Then, I have no energy for it.
2. Stay up after everyone else goes to bed. Scared means something held close.
3. “We are all like the bright moon, we still have our darker side.” - Khalil Gibran

Thanks for the tag @BookwormAHN 💗🤗💗
You have been told that, even like a chain, you are as weak as your weakest link.
This is but half the truth.
You are also as strong as your strongest link.
To measure you by your smallest deed is to reckon the power of the ocean
by the frailty of its foam.
To judge you by your failures is to cast blame upon the seasons for their inconstancy.
I didn‘t catch the email that I won a #GoodreadsGiveAway and got this pretty edition! 😍 So yay for the surprise in the mail yesterday! This will be an interesting read. #BookMail
I‘ve mentioned before that I tried listening to an audiobook only once in my life so I decided to try again. I downloaded the tagged on Libby for my flight. Not into it. Despite being stuck in one place for 3 hours with no other entertainment and listening to one of my favourite books, I couldn‘t focus on it. I just get too distracted for audiobooks, which is weird because I like podcasts.
One Tree Hill brought me here. I love that show, I'm still obsessed! Lucas Scott (the protagonist) quoted Gibran on an episode, saying : "For reason, ruling alone is a force confining and passion unattended is a flame that burns to its own destruction." Years later I'm at a friend's house, The Prophet's sitting on her shelf and I found those words again, and many many more. Profound, beautiful and haunting; I wish I was I just being generous.
"For how can a tyrant rule the free and the proud, but for a tyranny in their own freedom and a shame in their own pride?"
"There are those among you who seek the talkative through fear of being alone. The silence of aloneness reveals to their eyes their naked selves and they would escape. And then there are those who talk, and without knowledge or forethought reveal a truth which they themselves do not understand. And then there are those who have the truth within them, but they tell it not in words. "
"You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts. And when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart you live in your lips, and sound is diversion and a pastime. And in much of your talking, thinking is half murdered. For thought is a bird of space, that in a cage of words may indeed unfold its wings but cannot fly."
