It's very Scooby Doo meets Lovecraft, I also found it a little hard to keep up with and sometimes the timelines seemed off. But it was still a fun read 🐈⬛

4 ⭐ Have you ever wondered what would happen if Scooby-Doo wandered into a Lovecraft novel? Then wonder no more because here it is. We can tell this book is based around the idea of the Scooby-Doo cartoons of the 70s. The kids solved a mystery of the lake creature but now it‘s 13 years later, their adults, and they think they got it wrong. Their lives haven‘t been the happy go Lucky joy you get from the animated cartoon. They‘ve been hard and real
I love scooby doo so this book disappointed me. I felt like he wrote about women in a kinda icky way, I liked the mystery and some of the one liners but the whole Andy and Kerri dynamic felt forced.
Once I got over what I expected this to be, I was able to really enjoy it, although I may not be smart enough to have fully understood it. I definitely would not recommend trying to read it quickly, because it‘s very detailed and smart.
Obviously Tim the dog was my favorite ❤️🐶❤️, but I also loved the humor.
I would love to see this on film, and would definitely read any more books in the series if they were available.
This was cute. I loved the concept. Scooby Doo is one of my favorite cartoons ever, but this did fall all a little flat for me. The story just wasn‘t enough for me fully. I got bored in parts and other times I thought it was a little over the top. I didn‘t think it was awful, but I didn‘t love this one as much as I wanted to.
Reminds me of a sci-fi Scooby-Doo. It had potential to be great but it was kind of just meh. I love the artwork on the cover tho!
When I saw someone call this an adult version of Scooby Doo, I knew I had it pick it up. And frankly, I wasn't disappointed. This is definitely Scooby Doo all grown up, with queer characters, suicide, mental illness, and real monsters. The writing style flips from second to third person to a screenplay and back again. It's fast-paced and a wild ride from start to finish. I absolutely adored this book.
A delightful romp into what happens to your local friend group after life and eldritch horrors get to them. There's a lot of similes. Like, a LOT. However when you get past the constant nostalgia callbacks, it's a great book.
Here are my three #Roll100 books for August. Thank you, @PuddleJumper for hosting and for posting them early enough that I can get them on my #BookSpinBingo list.
This book is very accurately described as Scooby Doo meets H.P. Lovecraft. I went back and forth between really enjoying it and absolutely hating it. Therefore, it's landed here in so-so land. The action and mystery was fun, but I hated the romance and all the unneeded descriptions. I really wish I could've just cut out about 1/3 of it. However, it has made me want to rewatch some episodes of Scooby Doo.
Thanks to @StephMC82 for gifting me this book. I absolutely loved it and can‘t wait to discuss it during our book club!
I love the cover! The book not so much 🖤😱🏠

Icy roads this morning (and quite a few wrecks on my normal route because we‘re Texans and don‘t know how to do this). So I didn‘t go to work. But, because the school isn‘t closed, and my boss and instructors and “kids” are all there, and because I NEVER call in, I‘m feeling a little guilty. But only a little.
There are worse ways to spend a day than reading and drinking coffee in your mermaid blanket. 🥰
Happy 2022!
The Hubs and I just finished a 2-day road trip, so I have some catching up to do. *hides fromthe #wintergames crew - don‘t worry, I need to tally points, I didn‘t forget, this last week was just too much for me!*
First up is my January #bookspin #doublespin #bookspinbingo
I am trying very hard to actually finish some of my yearly challenges this year… we‘ll see how that goes, haha!
A odd book/story, audiobook was ok though. Read for #ReadHarderChallenge2021 3.5/5
If you grew up watching Scooby-Doo like I did, you'll recognize the parallels here - four young people and a dog unmasking the villains behind mysterious circumstances who would have gotten away with their crimes if it weren't for those 'meddling kids'. There was no way I could pass this one up! ⬇️
A mystery, but not a murder mystery, solving the lake monster mystery! Best summed up as......Horror:Grady Hendrix; Mystery : Edgar Cantero.
Fun read.

Make a great day everyone 🎃
As a Scooby Doo junkie when I was a kid I definitely was bought in. The characters were different and grown up but the similarities were obvious. The story got a little long about 3/4 of the way through but I stuck it out and am glad I did. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
And on to the next. I‘ve had this book for quite some time. Hopping it‘s as good as I‘ve heard.
So I bought this on a whim, cuz I heard it was a mashup of Scooby-Doo and H. P. Lovecraft and I‘m a fan of Lovecraft (and Scooby-Doo! 😅). It was pretty good. Characters were pretty well rendered; story took some interesting turns. The writing was pretty awful, if I‘m being honest, but the story was still unique enough to get a pass. So yeah. Ok book overall. A good fun light read.
I…hated this book and only finished it out of pure spite. Men should never, ever write lesbians, because it generally turns into some weird fetish thing? Also Andy was reallll predatory, and while Kerri was having a panic attack, there were two whole paragraphs about their boobs touching? Not to mention some transphobia and page-long run-on sentences… I‘m very disappointed.

First finished book of #20in4
I have mixed feelings about this one - it switches to screenplay at random intervals; there‘s purple prose and tortured metaphors galore; there are strange breaks to the 4th wall, for example two lines being left blank followed by “After a pause lasting two lines...”; many run on sentences, including one that lasted for two pages... and yet I didn‘t struggle to finish it. 🤨
I loved everything about this book except for the chaotic action scenes at the end. Cantero's language is amazing but it didn't leave room for clarity in a fight scene. Also, so much verbing of nouns. 🤣 Otherwise, a fun romp through Blyton Hills after the lives of the BSDC fall apart following their last case and their return to magical madness! February #bookspin nailed! @TheAromaofBooks
On to the next tale! Very excited for this one. A darkly humorous concept inspired by the idea of the gang from Hanna-Barbera‘s Scooby Doo growing up and dealing with childhood trauma. So far— it‘s wonderful.
1. I want to crawl inside of Cantero's world and live there forever.
2. I am in love with his writing style and his ability to give every single item its own life.
3. Of all the words to describe the sound of thunder, this might be the most loaded description ever!!! 🤣
I'm done gushing... back to business...
If H.P. Lovecraft and Scooby Doo had a baby, and then that baby grew up to break out of an insane asylum and found the Necronomicon, that is the best way to describe this book. I loved it, from start to finish.
This book is insane, in all the best ways. One second it's totally H.P. Lovecraft, and the next scene it's Scooby Doo! I'm having so much fun with this book.
It was fun comparing this to the Scooby Doo series. Some similarities but still an original idea. A group of teen detectives, now adults, still dealing with emotional damage from their last case together. My only complaint is sometimes the descriptions were too flowery and overly complicated. I really liked the story and the supernatural elements. This was a great read.
#littlechristmasswap Thank you for the book and candy @AmberWB I was super excited when I saw the book. I have been wanting to read it for awhile now. And the candy looks delicious 😄
I really loved Scooby Doo growing up so wanted to jump into this take of the kids all grown up and the idea that a case where spooky things happened might not have been an adult in a weird costume but something actually spooky. So far I‘m really liking it.
@hannah-leeloo new book from my sis in our town trip thank u look forward to reading it
This also just came. Perfect for Halloween coming up. Based on Scooby Doo theme but darker. Zoinks @CymbaX13 @Jackal121
I watched 2 horror movies Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and Child's Play. Read for 7 hours for two readathons. Weekly points come out to 150. Total comes out to 261. #teamharkness #scarathlon2020
There are some fun #kindledailydeals for Halloween today. I bought one thriller and this cozy set for $0.99
I‘m not sure what to say about this one. It was weird- sometimes good weird, sometimes bad weird. The pacing felt inconsistent and at times overly detailed. A lot of gratuitous swearing, which I don‘t mind at all, but it felt forced and disingenuous, as did several of the subplots. The concept of adult Scooby Doo is awesome, but it just fell flat for me. I‘m also not at all sure how this is supposed to be classified as horror.
Started reading this for a book club and so far I'm enjoying it. It has enough campiness and nostalgic pop culture references to make it feel like a light read, but there's also enough originality to the characters and the story to keep it feeling fresh and engaging.
Book 3 for #LittensDressedInBlood! Meddling Kids was a little different than I thought it would be, but I liked it. It was weird and ridiculous, but I really regret not getting the glow in the dark hard cover version... 😆
So good. Loved it.....blew off the hubby and sleep to finish it and it did not disappoint:)5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️‘s. And now a reading hangover......
Oh my! Halfway through and this is AWESOME! I get all the snarky scoob with adult words!! I like this so much better than my book I chose.....great choice @DarcysMom

I‘m on the board! My first book for my #bookspinbingo board. (Currently working on my bookspin)
It was okay but you can‘t help comparing to Scooby Doo which just threw me off the entire time.(Also Scooby Doo was my fave cartoon as kid) I think if that wasn‘t an issue I would have liked more. There was some good banter between two characters though so somewhere in the middle for me.
I wished for a more scooby doo vibe and the lesbanism seemed thrown in without a real reason.6
